Hi! this is my first post in sm OU, and I have built this team with some very debatable picks. The main Idea of this team is to always have a resisted switch-in on anybody, and hit back.
Pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/21c2ed7709ae408d
So the first jank Mon: Dragalge
Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Toxic Spikes
- Dragon Pulse
- Sludge Wave
So This is a pretty controversial pick. Whats an RU mon doing in OU? He has a lot of qualities that other spedf tanks do not have: Hazards, a phaser, and can hit back. He can take a moonblast to the face, phase setup sweepers, and can TKO tapu fini and Clefable
Also he can safely tank Earth Power from heatran even if its a crit or a z and phase him.
He does, however, have problems. He is very reliant on black sludge for recovery, and a lack of a wishpasser on my team really doesn't let me use him to his fullest potential. He is irreplaceable on this team however, as he is a fire/water/grass/fight resist in one, as well as adding another mon to switch into for the core.
Ok, the next mon: Golem-Alola
Golem-Alola @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wild Charge
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- Stone Edge
Out of all of the mons on this team, he is by far the most niche. He traps and kills most steel types in the tier, and compared to Zone gives up as a kart check and gains the bonus of trapping Heatran. He can also TKO/KO many other walls in the tier including Zapdos, and Torn-T. He also has the rare ability to trap and kill Zone himself, allowing other steel-types on my team to run loose. Very straightforward mon to use.
Ok the old favorite: Doublade
Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Gyro Ball
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
In gen 6, he was one of the best walls in the tier. In gen 7, he isn't used at all, generally disregarded as a UU mon. He is one of the key staples in the Fairy/Dragon/Steel Core, providing a physical tank. Him and Hydregon are Immune or Resist every type in the game, witch is a big bonus. Also he can revenge kill many mons in the tier with access to shadow sneak, such as Mega Zam. He hardwalls Mega Medi and Mega Lop, as they can't hit him super effectively whatsoever.
The other end of the core: Hydregon
Hydreigon @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Roost
- Flash Cannon
- Draco Meteor
The simple breaker, very straightfoward mon to use. He can switch into what Doublade can't, soaking knockoff and doing a crapton of damage with Dankinium z. He forms the other part of the core, and has levitate, witch is a great plus. Flash Cannon is to primaraly catch Mega Diance on a switch, and to hit other Fairy types. Another fairly straightfoward mon to use.
The only viable mon in this team: Magearna
Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Fleur Cannon
A classic set, AV mage is a very tanky mon that contributes to the core. If you havent noticed, Specs Lele and Mega Zam basically run through my team, so AV Mage stops them. Very useful mon, and can switch into so many things.
The odd pick: Mega Altaria
Altaria-Mega @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Body Slam
- Defog
- Roost
To be honest, I am still not sure who I should use in the megaslot. Altaria is really just temporary, though it does help the team quite a bit as the only defogger and as another knockoff sponge. Im open to criticism for replacing this one.
And thats the team! What do you'all think?
