ORAS OU bulky offense ft tang and offensive zap

hello ou rmt, my name is sexual fresh green, a longtime lurker on both the showdown ou room and forums. i'm just gonna skip the huge thought process as this team is very simple in its playstyle and uses roughly the same bulky offence core as most others but with a few changes on it.

1. mega lopunny

428-m.png

alright real simple and straight to the point: mega lopunny is great. mega sableye can't switch in, hits alot of the tier for heavy damage with its coverage, not too bad defensively, etc etc. i tried a few other mega's in this slot with other combinations but i felt mega lopunny did the best with what i had.

Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 244 Atk / 12 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- High Jump Kick
- Return
- Fake Out

i'm running slight sp.attack investment with ice beam to hit lando-t on the switch and not force myself to take extra damage as i have no consistent healing options on this team. tangrowth can allow me to get some leech on the switch, but it's difficult to do. hjk/fake out/return is basically the triple threat on lopunny as a fake out into a return/hjk can kill a surprising amount of things especially with chip. as you'll see as this goes on, i'm not really running anything special so don't expect some ground breaking strat.

2. tangrowth

bam the god is here lock the doors its over. tangrowth is my favorite pokemon on this team solely because of regenerator+rocky helmet. i can punish basically any u-turn and draw out stuff like t-flame/manaphy (which doesn't even kill tang with any move w/o tail glow boost assuming lefties) and sleep/swap to a hard counter in t-flame case

Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
- Giga Drain

48 sp.def allows me to live a LO starmie ice beam, which is pretty niche but sometimes helpful. it also helps me sponge rotom/scarf keldeo's attacks better as well. once again pretty standard moveset outside of that but giga drain to chip more things and add to its well-being. knocking on a switch is pretty cool as it can help lower the threat of other pokemon.

3. lando-t

hello metagame mon #2. you rarely see a super good team without either this or clefable on it because of the sheer splashability of these mons. lando t is my pseudo phys attacker check and a cleaner/revenge killer all in one. i probably don't need to explain this pokemon as much so:

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

max attack investment with max speed scarf. helps me deal with fire types outside of
lopunny/manaphy and other fast mons like torn-t and latios/las on rk. i have u-turn obviously for momentum and you need to run u-turn with scarf due to its locking. 100% standard lando but it works

4. manaphy
latest

this is mainly how i dont lose to stall. manaphy and m-lop pressures stall alot, especially the commen mega sableye+chansey+skarm teams on ladder as i can get to 4x sp.attack on skarm/sableye and force a switch/heavily dent the team. did you know a 4x scald in rain does 75-85% to 252 hp 4 sp.def eviolite chansey and 100% kills magic guard clefable/dents unaware due to rain? i didn't but its kinda fire, and they can't outstall you with status because of hydration.

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Rain Dance
- Scald
- Ice Beam

standard standard standard. i don't think theres a better moveset for it to be honest, i don't really need to live anything in particular, natural bulk is there because of it being a pixie. however you could make an argument for energy ball over ice beam but i like not losing to latios on a switch and forced to be switched out on that monster.

5. zapdos
latest

main hazard remover. i'm a big fan of offensive defoggers as you dont lose momentum and zapdos has the right amount of bulk, power, and is a good defensive typing in consideration with the team. this also gives me more balance on the special spectrum as i like having as close to an even split as possible on each attack stat so thats a plus as well.

Zapdos @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Volt Switch
- Roost
- Defog

whaaaat offensive zapper with 2 attacks? yes get over it it works for me. steel type sponge as exca can't win due to heat wave and bisharp knock> sucker does not kill (but leaves me low) and i can roost on the sucker as well. this alongside heatran are my main ways of dealing with sciz/ferro/grass in general and gives me a much needed electric stab to go up against bulky waters and sometimes fast flying types.

6. heatran
485.png

ah another ou staple. heatran is my go to t-flame switch as well as a bait for char-y (more on that in a bit). flash fire is a great ability and the best part is it absorbs will-o-wisps directed at my lop which helps me even more against m-sab.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Lava Plume
- Roar

full sp.def heatran? yes. as this is my only rocker i wanted to capitalize on stuff like serp that the rest of my team has trouble tangling with. max sp.def also helps me immensely with my lati matchup as i can toxic them or something else on the switch, and plume is there to also beat sciz/ferro and scare off a steel switch (namely excadrill). last but not least roar allows me to stop a setup attempt on some of the more common sweepers in the tier.

threat list:

the main threats i have encountered is stuff like mega charizard and mega diancie to name a few megas, and i also have a hard time playing around keldeo but it is manageable especially with how common choiced are on ladder and in general. i also have an issue with talonflame or most fast birds after heatran and zap fall but i can always force them out with lando no matter what. lastly, clefable, while i am able to wear it down over time, is hard to beat lategame without heatran+lop/lando.

closing

not gonna lie, just looking for any advice on the team and trying to share it around. i think in a run of 2 days i made midearly 1600/late 1500 just with this team alone in a span of something like 2 hours from 1150, then tanked super hard the next few days and only now recovering. getting 1600 is impressive for me atleast due to a lack of time for various reasons, namely school and me getting extremely cocky playing. this does work extremely well, i just know that with my schedule i'll never prove it 100% due to decay/tanking/etc
