XY RU Bulky Offense in RU!

Hey guys, this my third(?) RMT and this time I'm looking for help with my Bulky Offense team for RU. I have a lot of fun using this team, and I hope you can correct the little flaws that exist in it.

A CLOSER LOOK

amoonguss.png

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Amoonguss was added to provide a pivot to powerful attackers like Feraligatr and Hitmonlee. It has a nice niche in Spore which lets it put switch-ins to sleep. Giga drain and Sludge bomb are there for obvious STAB. HP Fire is there to smack durant on the switch-in. This set is pretty standard but it gives my team great utility and the ability to switch-in to scout a lot of things. Amoonguss also serves as a status absorber along with Sigilyph, as my team doesn't have aromatherapy or heal bell. EVs are for preventing a 2HKO from LO Reckless Hi-Jump Miss from Hitmonlee.

magneton.png

Magneton @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 216 HP / 252 SpA / 40 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Magneton, my favorite member of the team, and for good reason. This thing can switch in on SO many things, and gain me momentum by volt switching or hitting switch-ins hard with a MONSTROUS 120 Analytic-boosted Thunderbolt or Flash Cannon. It even 2HKOs eviolite gligar with Flash Cannon (not saying I'd stay in on a gligar). And I haven't even talked about it's bulk yet. With eviolite, it's base 95 defense gets boosted to greater levels and lets it switch into even netural physical attacks with ease. EV's are there to outspeed seismitoad and 2HKO with HP Grass (obviously while predicting rocks).

spiritomb.png

Spiritomb @ Black Glasses
Ability: Infiltrator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Sneak

Spiritomb was added to the team after I realized fast sweepers were going to fuck me over. However, when I used it, it proved to be WAY more versatile than just offering priority. It literally traps a shit ton of pokemon like meloetta, delphox, ambipom, and zangoose. Infact, I even remember trapping a Meloetta 3 times in the same tournament. Spiritomb is so damn good. On to the moves, sucker punch + shadow sneak is obviously for double priority, will-o is to cripple physical attackers I switch in on (fighting types, mostlee[see what i did there]), and pursuit is there because fuck you regenerators (im looking at u slowking) and to trap stuff that cant touch me (hello ambipom leads). EVs are to outspeed other spiritomb, Max Attack Adamant for hitting as hard as possible.

heatmor.png

Heatmor @ Assault Vest
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
Mild Nature
- Thunder Punch
- Giga Drain
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Blast

Heatmor was added to replace the unsettled Poliwrath. It provide a much-needed second source of priority and a great fire STAB to deal with Doublade. However, the main reason it replaced Poliwrath was to patch up the HUGE weakness to Moltres, hence the Assault Vest. Thunder punch might seem weird, but it's provides Heatmor with something to hit Moltres back and that is really appreciated considering how badly Moltres beats this team.

rhyperior.png

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Roar

Rhyperior was added because of it's great ability to tank and hit back hard (isnt that the theme of my team -_-). It also acts as a phazer for things that have gotten out of hand or sweepers that my team can't handle otherwise (hello altaria). It sets up rocks and hits back hard with dual stab. It also handles Braviary which gives my team trouble. Nothing else to say honestly, its' a pretty standard set but it does the job for my team. EVs are specially defensive to tank hits on both sides of the spectrum.

sigilyph.png

Sigilyph @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Heat Wave
- Roost

Bulky Offense teams are really given hell by stall. Spike stacking/residual damaging stall teams are really annoying to face and that is why Sigilyph was added to the team. He fulfills his role extremely well. It can setup on opposing pokemon such as alomomola , slowking, lanturn, registeel, and tons more. Psychic is my choice of STAB. I like it over psyshock because of the drop chance and because of the added power. Heat wave is for coverage, hitting steel types super effectively. Sigilyph. Honestly, the only stall pokemon the I've had trouble with is CM/Rest Cresselia because it beats Sigilyph in set-up war.

THREATS

moltres.png

Moltres literally shits through my team. I have to keep Rhyperior at full health and even then it gets smacked by a HP grass. Basically everytime this thing comes in it shits on me. I seriously need help against it.

delphox.png

Delphox is similar to moltres but it's easier to deal with because of it's psychic typing. Spiritomb is decent against it if it's at a good amount of HP.

doublade.png

Doublade is a monster in RU. It can setup SD on so many things and plow through my team. I need spiritomb at a decent health (im relying on spiritomb too much ik) to have a chance to stop it's sweep.

Well that's it from me. I hope you had fun reading this thread and hopefully you can help me improve my team.

Blackraven thanks for the suggestion; even though Heatmor can't do much back to moltres, I will definitely try it over poliwrath as it isn't doing anything for me atm.

hopefully u arent going to hunt me down... shieeeeet

HELLO FREN NICE TEAM MOLTRES IS THE BANE OF IT THO SO IM DONE BYE NOW

With that shitpost out of the way, hello Triability, your bulky offense team looks pretty solid, but there's some changes I'd like to tell you about. Firstly, I suggest AV SLOWKING over Heatmor to counter Moltres. I also suggest SubCM (Calm Mind) Meloetta to kill stall which is your goal with Sigilyph. Here's sets.
meloetta.gif

Meloetta@Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
248 SpA / 8 HP / 252 Spe
Timid/Modest Nature
-Substitute
-Calm Mind
-Hyper Voice
-Shadow Ball/ Focus Blast

slowking.gif

Slowking@Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
240 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SDef / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
-Scald
-Psyshock
-Fire Blast
-Grass Knot/Ice Beam

Hi Triability, this is a p. cool team you have here, but there are some ways to make it better imo.

First off, the Heatmor really really needs to go, It's not that bulky to begin with (in fact, Life Orb Moltres Hurricane still comes close to OHKOing your current heatmor set after Stealth Rock damage, and 2HKOs with Hurricane regardless of whether hazards are up or not: 252 SpA Life Orb Moltres Hurricane vs. 132 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Heatmor: 212-251 (61.6 - 72.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO), and Assault Vest is a pretty poor item on a Pokemon with only mediocre bulk and a weakness to Stealth Rock imo, there are better ways to get around the Moltres and Delphox problems you've been having.

Personally, i'd support ~BLOOM~'s suggestion of an Assault Vest Slowking over Heatmor. Slowking is a great check to both Moltres and Delphox, taking hits from both easily, striking back with powerful Scalds, and having the always handy Regenerator, so it can continue to check both of these Pokemon throughout the entire game. Slowking+Amoonguss also forms a (very solid at that) Regenerator core, which is a quite excellent thing to have on a bulky offensive team such as yours.

Secondly, on Spiritomb I'd run at least 48 Speed EVs, this lets you outspeed and burn Rhyperior, and also lets you burn Doublade aiming to speed creep them before they can do anything but Shadow Sneak. (you can run as many Speed evs as 64 if you want, it depends on just how much bulk you're willing to lose). I'd also suggest running Foul Play over Shadow Sneak. Foul Play is once again, another countermeasure against Doublade, letting you outright OHKO it if you switch in as it uses Swords Dance in combination with the Speed EVs. Foul Play also stops general physical attackers from easily switching in or setting up on you in conjunction with Will-O-Wisp.

Speaking of Foul Play, you can run it on Amoonguss over Hidden Power Fire too. You still hit Durant and Escavalier decently hard (actually Foul Play hits AV Escavalier harder than HP Fire), and it stops Doublade from setting up on you after Sleep Clause (hp fire doesn't do nearly as much lol).

On Magneton, i'd run at least 124 Speed Evs. Running too much Speed on an Analytic Pokemon might seem odd, but this particular spread lets you 2HKO Gligar on the switch in with Flash Cannon+Stealth Rock damage thanks to the Analytic boost given when the opponent switches.

252+ SpA Analytic Magneton Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Gligar: 168-198 (50.2 - 59.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Magneton Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Gligar: 129-153 (38.6 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Some other general things to look out for are Spikestacking offense (Sigilyph's Magic Guard+Regenerator core helps out a lot here though, just try and make sure they don't really pile up), and mixed Zoroark with Grass Knot/Flamethrower/Knock Off/Sucker Punch, which looks like a big annoyance to your team as it stands right now (although this is currently a suspect, so this might be irrelevant in a few days).

Hope i helped!
