Bulky offense (OU) RMT

One day I decided that I was tired of all my LO sweepers dying so fast, or any of my choiced Pokémon being confined to one move until switching, So I decided to make a bulky offense team, that way my sweepers will be around much longer.

Team building process
The lead
I wanted a lead that could not only lay down SR but also cause the other team some problems, do some damage, and if all else fails explode. Metagross came to mind immediately, it takes several hits before it dies, and it wont leave me starting off the battle 5-6 like many other leads do.
So now my team has its lead.
The spin-blocker
Now I want a spin blocker, this team doesn’t rely too heavily on entry hazards, but my Pokémon get more OHKO’s with them than without them. Also it needed to be bulky and able to dish out some damage as well. The answer was obvious, Rotom-H the premier spin blocker in OU.
The core
Now that the lead and the spin-blocker are taken care of I decided it was time to get some sweepers in. I figured, what’s a bulky offense team without a Gyarados, so he was an obvious choice to be the first of three mid-game sweepers.
The core
I wanted to work in a physical, special, physical, special pattern so that at the end I would have an even attacking balance from both ends. So Latias looked like a reasonable choice what with his max 350 Sp.Atk, and defensive bulk, so I made him the second of three mid-game sweepers.
The Core
Now it was time to top off the three mid-game sweepers on this team. It came to mind after I had read something on how pretty much all legendaries are bulky, so I went through them to find that Zapdos fit the bill perfectly. This is another bulky Pokémon that you’ve come to expect on bulky offense teams, however I use it a bit differently, once were down to the EV’s you’ll see how.
The late game sweeper
I had tons of options for this spot, Mamoswine looked like a promising choice for this spot, with his 424 max HP and 394 max Atk, and to top it all off access to what I think is the best priority move in the game (due to its coverage) Ice shard. However what Mamoswine lacked was two things, no swords dance or anything to sharply boost his attack, and the other thing he lacked was a recovery move. So I asked myself what Pokémon has both of those, and bulk, high attack and a priority move? Then I realized that Scizor had everything I needed. Although I really hate to use such an abused Pokémon, this thing is like the epitome of OU, it was just too perfect.
So now at a glance here is my team:

Metagross@ Occa Berry
Clear Body
Adamant (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)
252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spd
-Stealth Rock
-Bullet Punch
-Earthquake
-Explosion

The perfect bulky lead, it does everything I need it to do, it beats pretty much every other lead but against Swampert it usually ends up with both of us laying down SR, then me exploding and killing us both. The only thing I lose to is Gliscor, who taunts me, and then forces me to switch, or kills me with EQ. Otherwise I always get SR up, and then kill them, I sometimes am even able to keep them from getting SR up, but that rarely happens.

Rotom-H@ Leftovers
Levitate
Modest (+Sp.Atk, -Atk)
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp.Atk
-Will-o-Wisp
-Discharge
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

I use the rest-talk set on my Rotom, but with a different EV spread. I maxed HP and Sp.Atk because this is a bulky offense team, and I want to make sure I can do as much damage as possible, and keep as high HP as possible. Will-o-Wisp is to inflict statuses on things, because I needed something to give status support to my team, and Rotom seemed like the best candidate for the job. I chose discharge over Thunderbolt because of the paralysis chance, and I chose it over Thunder wave, because I needed an actual attack, otherwise it would be screwed over by taunters. Along with being my spin-blocker, this is also one of my Scizor checks, as he can cripple him with wow, and deal decent damage with discharge.

Gyarados@ Leftovers
Intimidate
Adamant (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

I love this Pokémon, bulky DD Gyarados can rip through team like it’s absolutely nothing, and I usually aim for two Dragon Dances, but one is good enough. However after two he’s pretty much unstoppable, and I’ve at times 6-0’d a team with him. Maximized HP for maximized survivability, he’s able to survive some Bronzong variations explosions. His one downfall is his weakness to SR and no recovery move. I’ve considered using bounce over one of my attacks for a chance to get HP back and to hit Celebi, but I don’t know which move I would replace for it.

Latias@ Leftovers
Levitate
Modest (+Sp.Atk, -Atk)
252 HP / 4 Spd / 252 Sp.Atk
-Calm Mind
-Dragon Pulse
-Surf
-Recover

Now you’ll begin to see the Pokémon that are really hard to take down, instant recovery moves, and great Atk/Sp.Atk stats make these guys really tough to handle. After two Calm Minds he’s ridiculously tough to stop, and with Recover, he can stick around for a long time. He’s got 350 Sp.Atk with this spread and 364 HP, so while he’s dealing massive damage to anything that doesn’t resist his attacks, his opponents is hitting me with attacks that will do very little damage.

Zapdos@ Leftovers
Pressure
Modest (+Sp.Atk, -Atk)
252 HP / 4 Spd / 252 Sp.Atk
-Thunderbolt
-Heat Wave
-Hidden Power (Ice)
-Roost

This Zapdos is truly amazing, it’s so hard to take down, and its Sp.Atk reached 383, the equivalent of Gyarados’ Atk. It has great coverage with his attacks, and after a Roost it only has one weakness, which is unfortunately to the ever present EQ. He gets many surprise OHKO’s on unsuspecting opponents who see that I regained health from my Leftovers, as they think all my EV investments are in HP and Def. The move set is really self explanatory, but like a few other Pokémon on my team, it has a different EV spread, so that it fits into the “bulky sweeper” category better.

Scizor@ Leftovers
Technician
Adamant (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break
-Roost

The one thing that lets me sleep at night when using such an overused Pokémon as Scizor is the fact that I use Roost on it, and have a different EV spread than most other Scizor. Roost is truly an amazing move to have on this Scizor. It makes its survivability so much better, and with its resistances and max HP investment, it’s a real bitch to teams who don’t have a good amount of Scizor counters. I have so many opportunities to use SD it’s not even funny, I usually get a SD of before I even drop below 60% HP. That was what bothered me most about the typical SD LO Scizor, you would get well bellow under 50% HP by the time you get you’re SD off, then you’ve got LO damage to deal with. That’s pretty much the whole reason I made this team, with the inspirations that bulk can make a huge difference in you’re sweeping. And so far it’s true.

Conclusion
So far this team has done great; I can’t remember the last time I lost with this team. By this point I’m probably like 20-1 with it maybe even 25-1. Hopefully this team can be my first team to crack the top 50 with it, and so far it seems like it can. To be honest I really have no idea what I might want to change with this team, so that’s one of the two reasons I’m posting it, I could use some ideas.

The other reason I’m posting it is to give back to Smogon, maybe this is just me, but a lot of the time I don’t really look at people’s RMT’s to help them out, but to get some ideas for this team. So I’d like to thank all of the makers of the bulky offense teams in the OU RMT archive on Smogon, and hopefully this team will make it there with them. So feel free to copy any ideas from this team, but please if you see any flaws point them out.

Lastly there’s this triangle of weaknesses if you will with my Gyarados, Zapdos, and Latias, so here’s a visual to help see what I mean:
ßStone Edgeà ßIce Beamà
I hope you can see what I’m saying, and if you do, please give me some advice on how I can work that out.

Thank you in advance to all who comment.

I would suggest putting HP grass on Zapdos or Grass Knot on Latias to have something to deal will swampert because otherwise the only thing that can hurt swampert on your team would be either exploding with metagross on it (which most of the ppl predicts) or latias with a calm mind. Also you could maybe put some speed EVs on Gyarados so that you can sweep after 1 DD.

Hi.

It looks to me like you have some trouble with stall teams, or just teams with Blissey in general. She walls half of your team, Zapdos, Latias, and Rotom-A. One thing you can do to lessen stall's effect on your team is add BulkyGyara:

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant / EVs: 156 HP / 108 Atk / 100 Def / 144 Spe
~ Dragon Dance / Taunt / Waterfall / Stone Edge

This Gyara can Taunt Skarmory to prevent it from Whirlwinding you out. It can also prevent Blissey from statusing it, Hippowdon from using Roar, Rotom-a from using sleep talk, Suicune from Calm Minding, etc. It also counters Lucario and Heracross better with the added bulk.

Another weakness you have is to DDTar. It can set up on Zapdos, perhaps Latias, or even a sleeping Rotom-A. Once it gets a Dragon Dance under its belt, you'll be hard pressed to take it down. Despite it often carrying Babiri Berry, Scizor wouldn't OHKO anyway without a Choice Band. The easiest Pokemon to replace would be Zapdos I'd think:

Machamp @ Lum Berry
Nature: Adamant / EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
~ Bulk Up / Dynamic Punch / Payback / Stone Edge

With a great resistance to Dark and Rock-type attacks, Machamp counters Tyranitar very well. Dynamic Punch will obviously OHKO. This particular set is my personal favorite. Beside countering Tyranitar, it can sweep with Bulk Up. Rotom-A oftentimes switch in to burn you, which you take thanks to Lum Berry and OHKO with Payback. This would be incredibly helpful in successfully sweeping with Gyarados, as its #1 counter is Rotom-A. If you can lure and eliminate it with Machamp, Gyara will have an easier time sweeping. Stone Edge is for Salamence and enemy Gyarados. Good luck.
