Bulky Offense RMT (OU)

So, both me and my friend kuja20 were sitting around, and we both needed new teams. We both had the same idea for an offensive team, so we thought why not work together. And this is the fruit of our labor. Works out pretty nicely, could prolly use imporvements. Neither of us could find much wrong, but who knows. Anyways, here it is.

487.png

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Fire Blast
- Explosion
So awhile back, I wanted to make an azelf lead team, that was actually good. Since we both wanted an offensive team, azelf was the perfect choice for a lead. So rocks since thats the point of a suicide lead, Psychic for STAB, fire blast deals damage to steels like metagross, and explosion for that last chance at damage. A true suicide lead at its finest.

Machamp (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 122 HP/252 Atk/136 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Stone Edge
- Payback
- Bullet Punch
So among kujas first concerns was having a way to deal with tyranitar, which is a common threat in todays metagame. We had no clue, but then he got the idea of a CB champ. Sounded great to me, so decided why not. So with a CB, coupled with its natural bulk, it makes a great start. D-Punch for STAB and confusion, Stone Edge deals with fliers, Payback deals with ghosts, BP gives a chance to revenge kill.

490.png

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Dragon Pulse
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
So a concern I had was a way to check mence, as mixmence is one of the metagames current threats. We figured heatran could take any draco meteors, and deal heafty damage back. Plus a way to explode is always nice. So Dragon Pulse for dragons, and it deals more to latias, Explosion for when heatran is almost done, Fire Blast for STAB, and EP for steels that FB doesnt hit.

212.png

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 200 HP/252 Atk/56 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Brick Break
Since scizor is always a good force to have on any team, and we wanted more physical power at this point, we figured a scizor would fit well. We decided on using classic SD scizor, as we have 2 choicers as it is, it would work just fine. So, BP for STAB and one of the best revenge killing moves in the game, Roost to heal LO damage off, SD to get the boosts, Brick Break complements BP well, and deals with blissey, so why not.

245.png

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 114 HP/196 Spd/200 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Surf
We needed, and I mean NEEDED a gyara counter. At first I was thinking a rotom of sorts, but he was against it. So he thought of using a bulky offensive suicune. Since I was one of the pioneers of offensive cune (yes I was, but I doubt it) I was all for it. The evs are just enough to take out gyara after rocks with HP elec. So CM to get some boosts, Ice Beam to deal with grasses and dragons, HP elec for gyara and other waters, Surf for STAB.

500.png

Rotom-c @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 60 HP/216 Spd/232 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
So in the final place, kuja thought we would need a late game sweeper. At first I thought CM latias, then he suggested a Sub-Charge Beam Rotom, which sounded cool, so we went for it. Plus the extra fighting and groud evades help. So Charge Beam for getting those needed boosts, HP fighting for Bliss and TTar, Shadow Ball for STAB, Sub works well with charge beam, and can help beat bliss, so yea.

So that is it, has worked pretty well for the both of us, neither of us can see glaring weaknesses, so if there are any, and anyother suggestions, feel free to say anything.

Suicune: 574 Atk vs 266 Def & 369 HP (100 Base Power): 201 - 237 (54.47% - 64.23%)

Rotom: 574 Atk vs 250 Def & 256 HP (120 Base Power): 256 - 302 (100.00% - 117.97%)

I don't see how Suicune can be a reliable answer to Gyarados.... With no EVs invested in the Defence department, Suicune cannot take more than one +1 Earthquake before going down. Giving it HP [Electric] does not make it a Gyarados counter. And in Rotom's case, he is OHKO'ed by a +1 Waterfall. These damage calculations clearly indicate that your team is DD Gyarados weak. He has no problem setting up, as he can come in on a Scizor Bullet Punch, or Heatran locked into Earthpower and Machamp locked into Bullet Punch. What I also noticed, is that your team is also MixApe weak. That's why I would suggest using Vaporeon instead of Suicune as he counters Gyarados and MixApe while providing Wish support.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/ 244 Def/ 12 Spe
-Surf
-HP [Electric]
-Wish
-Protect

Vaporeon is one the best Gyarados and MixApe counters in the metagame. Surf hits Infernape for SE damage and HP [Electric] is for Gyarados. Wish+Protect are self explanatory. This Pokemon also counters Heatran better than Suicune.

Vaporeon needs a lot of defense EVs and Max HP in order to be able to take +1 Eartquakes. 12 Spe EVs is for the sole purpose of outspeeding standard 8 Speed CB Scizor.

Swords Lucario, rips your team apart. He is able to setup SD on Heatran locked into Dragon Pulse or Machamp's Bullet Punch. There is a simple solution to this problem, just change Rotom-A's moveset and EV spread in order to treansform it into a Lucario counter. SubCharge Rotom doesn't fit hyour team anyway and doesn't have enough support to sweep.

Rotom-H @ Leftovers
Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP/ 68 Def/ 188 Spe
-Will-o-Wisp
-Thunderbolt
-Overheat
-Shadowball

Rotom-H provides a very reliable counter to both Scizor and most importantly SD Lucario. The moveset is standard, no need to explain here. The EV spread is simple, 188 Speed outspeeds Adamant Lucario by one point so that Rotom won't be hit by Crunch. 252 HP is for maximum bulk and to take hits from both sides of the attacking spectrum and the rest is dumped into Defense to physical hits as well as possible.

There is also one more thing I would like to point out. If you want a good Tyranitar counter, I would suggest using a Resttalk Machamp instead of a Choice Band version since you lack a status absorber and because that would give Machamp a reliable healing move. CB Machamp is still good though, so not really important.

Well, that's all I have to say, I hope some of this helps. Good Luck with the team.

For some reason, I feel as you miss the point as keeping it an offensive team, w/e, it can be doable I guess. But I guess I should prolly do a rebuttle on what you said.

And at what point would this said gyara get a dance up, if it came in, cune would be my first switch. Blah Blah Blah

Luke is covered by tran and rotom for the most part, since most lukes are adamant, rotom can do decent damage to it, and tran can kill it off easily.

Machamp could be rest-talk I guess, w/e.

Rotom needs to OHKO Lucario or it falls to +2 Crunch in a single hit. Tran is fine, although it can be difficult to switch it in; it typically revenge kills only.

If Gyarados comes in on Scizor's Bullet Punch or on Heatrans Fire Blast, it gets a Dragon Dance as you switch to Suicune. HP Electric needs to OHKO or Stone Edge/EQ will 2HKO you solidly, ignoring SR and Toxic Spikes and that sort of thing.

Alrighty, let's see what we have here. I get that you're running an offensive team, which is cool and generally effective, so I'll try not to deviate from that too much. The biggest issue I see is the Choice Users. If you're get locked on the wrong move, you're pretty much swept by Gyarados and Salamence to a lesser extent, as already mentioned. You could probably play around it, but that really doesn't seem like a solid choice to me. So for starters, I'd change Machamp to a Sub 3 Attack variant. Drop Bullet Punch, since it doesn't do anything with that weak base power anyway, change item to leftovers, and change the spread to 252 hp/ 252 atk/ 4 SpD. This prevents him from getting stuck on the wrong move, and getting set up on, which can be catostrophic to offensive style teams.

Next issue I see is Heatran. I would suggest changing the item to Expert belt, allowing you to fake a scarf but still change moves. You can then blow up on Gyarados switch ins, to prevent it from setting up on you. The issue with this, is now you can't revenge Lucario with it. But taking a look at your team, Lucario cannot set up on anything. So it might get a kill, but then you can come in and either kill it or set up something of your own.

I think those changes could go a long way to keep you from getting swept, and maintaining the offensive nature of your team. Good Luck!

I agree with Huntofthelion in that you should definitely go with a Sub 3 attack Machamp over the CB set. It is able to still maintain bulk, while not being crippled by most rotom with WoW due to being able to sub and OHKO with Payback. Now I have a set I think would fit for you.

Machamp @ Leftovers
Adamant (No Guard); 252 Atk, 56 Spe
-Dynamicpunch
-Ice Punch
-Payback
-Substitute

The EVs are to maximize attack, give some general bulk, and outspeed neutral nature 4 Speed Tyranitar, which retains its ability to be a Tyranitar check of sorts. Plus with the bulk and threat of D-punch T-tar will be running when it sees this thing. Ice Punch>Stone Edge because it allows you to destroy Gliscor which is a common switch-in, though it does make you lose to Gyarados...

cool team, as you said there are definitely some imrpovements to be made. first order of business is your machamp. i dont really like cbchamp, because with ghosts being so common you are likely losing a turn, as well as payback not being powerful unless it's super effective in most cases. stalk champ would help you cover tyranitar better, and gives some nice rotom coverage along with a bunch of other stuff due to the added bulk of restalk. 172 hp / 252 attack / 84 speed lets you hit really hard and take the kind of hits that you need to. 84 speed is really valuable because it means you outspeed scizor, who often try to superpower for like 65%. stalk is really the best choice in the current metagame, because of the abundance of ghosts as well as the hard hitting shit that dpp has.

i also think you should swap out scizor for a more specially defensive pursuit version, the uber trapper one. it really helps with shit like logar and life orb starmie who give this team trouble, and u turn can really help you keep up the momentum. limiting rotom's switches is pretty key as he is a big problem, albeit more manageable with stalk champ. the power, or lack thereof, may hurt a bit vs shit like salamence, but in all honesty the pursuit and u turn help you out more than the extra few attack points do. 240 hp / 212 sdef / 56 atk @ life orb actually scrapes 400 attack. good luck with the team, hope my changes helped
