~Team Spleko~
This Team, though at first glance appears to be a bunch of standard pokemon thrown together, centralizes around two strategies. Bulky Offense and Pure Sweeping Offense. The Bulky Offense is brought in by Swampert, Zapdos, and Fortress (Team suport+Offense through Spikes). The Pure Devestating Offense comes forom Breloom, Empoleon, and Lucario.
This Team has many resistances and few weaknesses. All of the weaknesses are quite easily countered by another one of the team.
More In-Depth:
Name: Fish?
Purpose: The Lead
Pokemon: Swampert (Water/Ground)
Item: Leftovers
Evs: 240 hp, 216 defense, 52 Sp. Attack
Nature: Relaxed(+Defense/ -Speed)
Ability: Torrent
Moveset:
~Stealth Rock~
-Set Up First Turn. Quite Obvious actually-
~Roar~
-Gets rid of threatening Grass users such as Celebi and can simply be used to blow away anything you can deal with easier with another team member-
~Surf~
-Good STAB-
~Earthquake~
-Good STAB-
Strategy: Standard lead Swampert. Stealth Rock on first move in most situations. Bulky enough to survive an energy ball from common users and return it with roar. Surf and Earthquake are simply great STAB moves for the set. Swampert can switch out to Zapdos or Breloom if it faces any Grass threats that are to dangerous. Can swap back into the game quite easily in the late game due to its bulkyness and lack of weaknesses.
Name: WonderBall
Purpose: Spin Spiker (Team support)+Bulky Boom
Pokemon: Fortress (Steel/Bug)
Item: Shed Shell
Evs: 252 hp, 252 defense, 4 sp.defense
Nature: Relaxed(+Defense/ -Speed)
Ability: Sturdy
Moveset:
~Rapid Spin~
-getting rid of those pesky stealth rocks-
~Toxic Spikes~
-Toxic is helpful to my team. Other than Breloom’s Spore, my team doesn’t utilize any other statuses. Toxic is helpful late in the game to wither down the enemy. I’m considering adding a sturdy wall to the team to make better use of them-
~Spikes~
-Least important move in the set, though still very beneficial if you end up in a situation where you can easily set them up-
~Explosion~
-If you have two layers of Toxic spikes laid down, you can opt. out on Spikes if you think you’ll be dead before you can put two+ layers and go for a boom, hopefully KOing something in the process.-
Strategy: Rapid spin and Stealth Rocks or spikes away. Fortress’s massive defense and plethora of resistances allow him to switch into most physical threats and set up Two toxic spikes and a spin before he dies. The Ev spread is not supposed to help him stall by any means. Its only supposed to help him survive long enough to spin and spike. Boom when close to death.
Name: OmNomNom
Purpose: Special Sweeper
Pokemon: Empoleon (Water/Steel)
Item: Petaya Berry
Evs: 252 Sp.Attack, 232 Speed, 12 Defense, 12 Hp
Nature: Modest (+Sp.Attack/-Attack)
Ability: Torrent
Moveset:
~Agility~
-Boost speed for a great sweep-
~Substitute~
-Lowers health into Petaya Berry range-
~Surf~
-Great Sp. STAB-
~Ice Beam~
-Great type coverage with Surf-
Strategy: Swap into one of his many resistances or something he’ll scare out. Agility. Substitute until you drop below ¼. Petaya berry launches his Sp.Attack into the 500s, and with agility, he’ll outrun most, allowing for a nearly flawless sweep. Surf with the boost of the Petaya berry, STAB, and Torrent with tear apart anything that doesn’t resist it and Ice beam offers coverage for types such as dragon and ground which often use the dangerous earthquake. Pretty standard Empoleon.
Name: shr00by
Purpose: Physical Pwn+Empoleon/Swampert Switch
Pokemon: Breloom (Grass/Fighting)
Item: Toxic orb
Evs: 4 hp, 252 Attack, 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant (+Attack/-Sp.Attack)
Ability: Poison Heal
Moveset:
~Spore~
-Sleep set up for a sub and focus punch-
~Substitute~
-Wall for focus punch and spore-
~Leech Seed~
-Recover sub damage faster-
~Focus Punch~
-Pwnificate their faces-
Strategy: Between Spore and Substitute, your opponent is rarely given a chance to end this things reign of terror. Switch into a resist and set up spore on a switch, Sub the next switch (if they switch). Set up leech seed on anything to bulky. Then last but not least, Focus Punch. This move backed by Adamant Nature, STAB, Substitute and spore, and 252 Attack Evs tears teams apart. The only problem with this set is the lack of ability to counter ghosts. Gengar in particular tears thing set to pieces. Slower ghosts such as dusknoir are easily walled with Sub and Spore while Leech seed drains them, however gengar with its speed is easily able to tear down a sub and take Breloom down before Spore puts it to sleep again. As of now, Lucario with his crunch is the only thing I really have to counter Gengar threats. Suggestions to fix this problem are very welcome.
Name: Squid
Purpose: Physical Sweeper
Pokemon: Lucario
Item: Focus Sash
Evs: 4 Hp, 252 Attack, 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant (+Attack/-Sp.Attack)
Ability: Inner Focus
Moveset:
~Close Combat~
-STAB. High Power. Nuff said-
~Crunch~
-Counters Gengar and Cresselia nicely-
~Extreme Speed~
-Makes up for Lucario’s Lack of speed. Backed by Swords Dance this move rips teams to shreds-
~Swords Dance~
-Get one of these off and you can sweep nearly flawlessly-
Strategy: Pretty standard Lucario. One difference being Focus Sash instead of Life Orb. Focus Sash allows you to aoutomatically get Swords off without an OHKO. Then you can continue to sweep with Extreeme Speed. Focus Sash also allows you to counter Gengar with Crunch, so long as the Sash is still useable. Gengar’s however tend to pop out on Lucario after sash has become useless and continue to strike before crunch, putting Lucario out before they get hit. I was considering bullet punch instead of extreme speed to powwibly fix this. Opinions?
Name: HeatFTW!
Purpose: Wall+Counter+Bulky Special Offense
Pokemon: Zapdos
Item: Life Orb
Evs: 248 Hp, 228 Defense, 32 Speed
Nature: Bold (+Defense/-Attack)
Ability: Pressure
Moveset:
~Thunderbolt~
-STAB-
~Heat Wave~
-Decent coverage over all the steel types running amuck in the meta game today-
~Roar~
-I like roar. Takes care of pesky pokemon and usually goes off without a problem due to Zapdos’ bulkiness. Roar is futher backed if Fortress has already been out, for obvious reasons-
~Roost~
-Helps with walling, and stalling. This is especially helpful if toxic spikes are set-
Strategy: Not really any specific strategy or set up here. Mainly works as a decent switch in/wall for most of my other pokes. Switches into flying and fire threats to breloom nicely. And easily switches into grass and electric attack that threaten empoleon, and Grass attacks that threaten Empoleon and Swampert. Mainly is just a nice switch in to move you opponents team as you see fit.
Threat List: Will be added in the near future.
