Let me explain
Usually, when I build teams for the RMT thread, I try to build around a pokemon, like when I did that for Venusaur, and for Victini. This time? Not so much.
I've seen Psyspam on ladder, you've seen psyspam on ladder, everyone has. It's usually something like:
(x1) Tapu Lele
Expanding Force user
Profit!
But when I tried to use psyspam, it didn't work! All my abusers end up dying way to early, or just don't live long enough to clean in the endgame. So what's my work-around?
Bulky Psyspam! Like bulky offense!
First, we have Buzzwole. My defensive cornerstone of the team, using a subtoxic set with reliable recovery in Roost to stall out opponents. I like this set because as long as special threats are covered by my other mons, Buzzwole basically goes ham. You usually handle Buzzwole with status (if not special moves.) but if it gets a Substitute, that all goes dowm the drain.
Second up: G-Slowking. My Specially defensive cornerstone of the team, using an item it never uses ever (trust me man, trust me.) Assault Vest! With the moves: Weather Ball, Expanding Force, Sludge Bomb, and Scald, not only does Glowking achieve near perfect neutral coverage on the OU metagame, but is also our first Expanding Force user! Weather Ball clears the path of Ices, Fires, Bugs, and Flying types that can and will annoy my other mons.
Wait, Weather Ball on Glowking? All because our next mon is Tyranitar! T-tar does a lot of things here: It gives Glowking coverage, it provides passive damage on the other team, it sets up rocks, is bulky, and is our resident Setup Sweeper! Dragon Dance paired with Earthquake and Crunch provides T-tar with near perfect neutral coverage on the OU metagame, but when it sets up, it doesn't really matter.
Everything kinda just dies :P
Can't have Psyspam without Lele, so here it is! I decided to kill two birds with one stone - Psychic Terrain and Speed Control - and do both! Tapu Lele has a Choice Scarf to blaze past other pokemon, and Moonblast, Psyshock, Psychic, and Thunderbolt, provides it with (say it with me) near perfect neutral coverage on the OU metagame!
Next up: Blacephalon. Blacephalon is nothing less of a nuke. Its Expanding Force powered up by Terrain can do a lot of damage, and I don't hear people saying: "Oh no, my 150 base power move powered up by STAB AND Choice Specs isn't doing enough!" Trick messes up a lot of bulky clerics, and our last psychic terrain abuser is certainly no joke!
Last but not least: Kommo-o. Kommo-o is just another spdef wall. Will setup rocks, and can roar setup sweepers away. It also has the ability Overcoat to negate Sandstorm damage. Also don't underestimate Body Press - It's powered up by STAB and a 383 defense stat!
If you're still here, thanks for reading. Is this team better than my Victini team? I dunno, but what I do know is that it's not perfect - far from it.
Any feedback helps! If you think something about my team should change, go for it, I'd love if you gave some suggestions.
Thanks!
