Bulky Water Duo (BW OU)

Hi everyone, I've been testing out this team and it works quite well.
I'm looking for ways to answer some of the threats I will list later. (sorry if the english is bad, its my third language :P)
Also I want to retire this team soon so might as well post it here.

current team ranking:
#171 on PO (1363 points)
#138 on smogon (1339 points)
going by the name of arigolderchi if someone seen me there.

Team Building Proccess:
The first thing that came to mind was: I want to counter sand storm teams: Excadrill, Garchomp and annoying bulky SD Scizor. those 3 pokes annoyed the hell out of me during the last 4 months. The only poke I could think of... Unaware Quagsire!

195.png

Now I want another bulky water, one that resists water... (the ground typing kind of hurts Quagsire). 2 bulky water should be enough against sandstorm teams (right?). Wish passing is a really great glue to any team, might as well use vaporeon..

Bulky Water Duo is complete (for now). Both of them can sponge some attacks and heal (by recover or wish). Now I need a counter to Specs-Latios.. Specs Draco hurts like hell. Jirachi was a candidate but I hate that thing with a passion and my god, I just cant use the freakin thing. So I chose bronznog with levitate, needed that ground immunity.

No good team is complete without some priority. the team has 2 pokemon that resist fire - scizor! The fire weakness doesn't matter, I have 2 bulky waters to take it. Bulky scizors made me suffer for a while so i'm gonna use one to make other people suffer.

All of those pokemon are kind of slow. So the search began for a fast special attacker. Thundurus fits the role well - great typing, amazingly strong attacks.

Bullet punch is not enough, need more priority! I always loved Ice shard, and the only good user of it is Mamoswine (sorry weavile and donphan). Ice shard is important with all of those chlorophyl pokemon running around.

Testing showed that I need a fighting resistance/immunity. the only fighting resist in the team is thundrus and he has bad defenses. So I switched Vaporeon with Jellicent. Now the team is complete.

Quagsire (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Ice Beam

My physical wall and let me tell you, unware Quagsire is a beast! It can take physical hits all day long, sometimes even from choice banded pokemon. Unaware is an amazing ability, with it Quagsire walls SD scizor, Excadrill, Garchomp, Bulk-Up Conkeldurr, DD Gyarados, DD Nite, DD Mence... you get the drill- physical boosting pokemon. It can take one bug buzz from volcorona since the quiver dances dont count and toxic/scald it back. Scald has that amazing 30% to burn, Recover is obvious and Toxic is there for other walls but also for Conkeldurr. Bulky Conkeldurr's, Guts activated, Drain Punch does ~40% to quagsire so I can just toxic stall him. The fourth move Ice Beam is for all of those special dragons that love switching to Quagsire. It doesnt do a lot of damage (quagsire has only 65 sp.atk) but it does enough that I can finish them later with Ice Shard/Bullet Punch. I cant count how many times quagsire saved me, thank you dream world :P

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 100 Def / 116 SDef / 44 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Recover
- Scald
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp

First thing you will see, the EV's are strange. And there is a good reason, I dont know how to distribute the EV's so i kind of made it even. The team needed more of a special-wall Jellicent so that's why the calm nature. If a smart damage calc guy reads this I will gladly take advice on what is the optimal EV spread for common threats (like Rotom-w and Starmie). Jellicent is my rain dance team counter. Politoed cant do a lot to it, unless it carries toxic but the most popular sets are scarf/specs. Toxicroak can set up all day long but I either will-o-wisp it or just dont attack it as most of them carry sucker punch to hit ghosts. (I can also switch to quagsire for another stall war. I once had a battle with 150 turns just because of toxicroak vs. my bulky waters). Scald and Recover are amazing moves, Will-O-Wisp is great to counter scizor/any physical attacker and Shadow Ball is there to hit Rotom-W and Starmie which make my team suffer quite a lot.

Bronzong @ Choice Band
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
IVs: 30 Def / 30 SDef / 1 Speed
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Hidden Power [Grass] (64 base)

Bronzong does the same thing 70% of the times. when my opponent switches to Ferrothorn/Skarmory/Reuniclus or when Latias/Hydregion is out I switch to my bronzong. They either stay with the wall or switch from the dragon to a wall and get Tricked a Choice Band. After Tricking I set up Stealth Rock and then spam Gyro Ball to do some damage. Sometimes I dont trick on the start, CB Gyro Ball hurts even with 0 atk EV's. The IV's are all strange because of HP Grass, after testing this team for a while I saw that Rotom-W causes a lot of pain, so HP grass is just for Rotom-W. Doesn't work too well, before HP Grass I had Earthquake.. Used it only on Magnezone to suprise it. Would like to hear thoughts about the fourth slot move because HP Grass is kind of.. bad. Maybe Light Screen?

Spr_b_5b_212_m.png

Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch

Not much to say about Scizor, I took the set from the OU Analysis, works like a treat. I should nickname this thing "Thanks Ferrothorn" for all the times I set up on Ferrothorn and swept the rest of their team.. Bug Bite is a must for my team as I dont have a lot else against Reuniclus. Bullet Punch, Roost and SD are obvious.

Spr_b_5b_473_m.png

Mamoswine (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Great poke, can come late game and sweep with Ice Shard taking out all the hurt pokemon (Especially on sandstorm teams). The Adamant nature is to make Ice Shard hurt like hell. Stone Edge is a rarely used move, I use it only against my evil nemsis - Rotom-W. Ideas for a fourth move will be appreciated. Mamoswine OHKOs Jirachi with EQ and Breloom with Icicle Crash, both of them my most hated pokemon. <3 u mamoswine.

Spr_b_5b_642.png

Borutorosu (Thundurus) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Kind of a standard Nasty Plot Sweeper. Focus Blast after Nasty Plot does around 85% to Ferrothorns (with some sp.def investment). It also does around 40% to Blissey, not too shaby. Thundurus is good but Gengar and Starmie are faster, and both of them cause trouble to my team. If there is a pokemon to switch in my team it's Thundurus. Open for suggestions. (I was thinking about CM Virizion).

Major Threats: (also known as: things that make me cry)

Ani038MS.png
-Sunny Day Teams: They usually win. Ninetails is a good counter to my teams, great Sp.Def and it outspeeds Mamoswine. I normally start with Thundurus and try to 2HKO it with Thunderbolt. Against Victini/Hihidaruma I have bulky waters but in the sun it still hurts like hell... Chlorophyl sweepers are a pain, Ice shard doesnt OHKO Venusaur and all of those sweepers carry HP Fire that OHKO's Scizor. The main goal in the start of the match is to set up SR with Bronzong, but Bronzong doesnt shine against Sunny Say teams for obvious reasons.

Ani479WMS.png
-Rotom-W: Ah... I hate this thing -_-. Normally I will try to status it with Toxic (Burn is second best) and then alternate between electric immune Quagsire and water immune Jellicent. Rotom-W is considerd a good check to SD Scizor so when i'm against a good player and my Scizor is out I know they will switch Rotom-W so I just go for a Bug bite to get some damage.

Ani609MS.png
/
Ani121MS.png
-Fast Special Attackers: Things like Scarf Chandelure and Starmie usually hurt my team. Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt hurt Jellicent badly, my other Specially bulky pokemon Scizor and Bronzong dont enjoy taking a Fire Blast/Hydro Pump. Against Life Orb Starmie I have NOTHING. :(

Thanks for reading, would appreciate comments!!

If you wanted you could use Ferrothorn>Brongzong for a Solid Starmie counter. Power Whip OHKO's Starmie without any investment. He can set up Rocks and provide leech seed. This will not help you against sun teams though....

One thing I'm wondering is why you have both Will-o-Wisp and Scald on your Jellicent. You already have a 75% burn rate move (I'm counting the accuracy), so why not use Surf instead?

@randomname12321: Ferrothorn is a good idea, but because most of the stuff run now HP fire just for him I prefer to pass. Also, Tricking a choice band on a wall shuts them down almost completly.

@Rawrchomp: Because Will-o-Wisp is for that "guranteed" burn and scald is to do damage and burn sometimes. Surf is only 10 base power stronger and Jellicent is not the best special attacker. I will test Hydro Pump though, good idea.

@Ben: Heatran is a good idea, maybe a ballon tran because mose Venusaur's carry EQ. No idea who to swap Heatran for, Bronzong maybe?

@AeroNightmare: Bronzong is a great death fodder late game and after tricking+SRing it can still take a couple of hits and hurt back with stab Gyro Ball. I wonder how much Explosion does to Rotom-W, if it does a lot I will put it.

Thanks everybody, looking for more ideas!

I wouldnt go for explosion as it lost its power because it doesnt act as if the opponent had half defence but like what areo said it hasnt got much else to do so light screen will help those spA that ruin scizor and mamoswine and it gives youyr team more bulk for the 5 turns.
