ORAS OU Burning Desire (Entei Offense)

Hello smogon! I've been a lurker for quite some time and finally decided to make a post about a team I've had some decent success with, but I brought it here to improve it further! I built this team around Entei because I feel that It's fairly underrated since it got a huge buff with Sacred Fire in XY, yet isn't really used. Anyways without further ado lets get into the team!

Teambuilding Process:

I started with a core of Diancie + Entei because building around Entei intrigued me.

I then added Breloom in order to deal with fat waters and grounds and sand.

I needed rocks and a decent ground immunity so Lando-T was added.

Having Entei as my main wallbreaker meant that some sort of hazard removal was necessary so Latios was added.

The team was very weak to faster threats and fairies at this point so Jirachi was added to patch these weaknesses.

In Depth:

Entei:

I chose to build around Entei because its a very underrated threat. I has access to Sacred fire which for all practical purposes is like a super Scald and is very strong. Another key thing that Entei has is access to Extreme Speed which allows it to come in and pick off weakened pokemon as well as sweep late game. Bulldoze is mainly to nail Heatran and Stone Edge adds a rock move which is just great coverage. Entei also has an amazing HP stat which allows it to take hits which can be clutch in some situations. Basically you want to get this thing in a position where it can spam its really good STAB move in Sacred Fire.

Diancie:

I paired Entei with this monster because they actually do a lot as far as helping each other goes. Diancie is able to deal with the Fire types that entei has trouble with as well as making it difficult on the opponent to get rocks up which helps Entei's longevity a lot. Diancie has amazing offensive presence as it is an incredibly strong mixed attacker that can put pressure on any playstyle with ease. I chose to go with Earth Power because getting rid of Heatran is nice because it frees up Entei, but also losing the speed ties can be somewhat frustrating.

Ultra Light Beams (Diancie) @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

- Diamond Storm
- Protect
- Earth Power

Breloom:

I decide to go with SD loom as my way of dealing with fat waters and grounds. It is an amazing mon as it has utility vs every playstyle. Spore+SD can break fat builds really easily while it's STAB Technician boosted Mach Punch is a major headache for offense, especially paired with a Banded E-Speed user to go along with it. I chose to go with Fist Plate because I wanted the extra power but didn't want to have the recoil from LO because this is here for the long haul against fatter teams.

Famous (Breloom) @ Fist Plate
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Spore
- Swords Dance

Landorus:

The team needed a solid rock setter and unsurprisingly Landorus was the choice. It's just extremely reliable and the Intimidate is really nice on offense in my experience as it allows things to set up, or take hits when they need to. I went with the Rocky Helmet variant since my team relies on priority and a rather weak scarfer for revenge killing so any chip damage is greatly appreciated. I went with the defensive set even on a more offensive team as it gives the team a somewhat reliable pivot to the usual offense killers such as Lopunny and Sand.

Waves (Landorus-Therian) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

Latios:

Latios is very common mon on offense right now due to it being able to fill so many roles at once while still keeping pressure on the opponent due to it's great wallbreaking abilities. I mostly went with Latios over Starmie as having a switch in to Keldeo is a necessity for any team as it can destroy your team otherwise. Also, Defog is crucial for this team as it is based around a pokemon that is weak to rocks. Recover is used because it gives it longevity as it forces a lot of switches and can keep itself healthy.

Jirachi:

This spot used to be occupied by Azumarill as it helped with the rain matchup, but left the team incredibly weak to Gengar, Altaria and such which are the overall greater threats so I added this guy as a way to patch up those issues. But, that isn't all this mon does. It provides crucial speed control, a switch in to Lati@s and another answer to fairies outside of Entei, which isn't exactly the most reliable.

Threats

Rain is a pretty hard matchup as it outspeeds every thing and specs scald basically body bags everything.

Thundurus is a major pain in the ass as it usually is for any offensive team.

Hey! I think that a change of Rotom-W over Breloom would help your team quite a bit, giving you a better check to Azumarill, Landorus-T, Gliscor, while still being able to help with waters, and providing your team with a volt-turn core to easily get Entei in easily to spread burns.

As replacing Breloom makes your team slightly weaker to Bisharp and Weavile, I suggest that you try Colbur Berry Latios. This lets you avoid being revenge killed by Tyranitar, Bisharp, and Weavile, dropping Recover for HP Fighting, which scores an OHKO on Bisharp and Weavile, as Landorus-T is a bad check to Bisharp, and Jirachi cannot switch directly into Weavile.

28 SpD on Landorus-T lets it live a Draco Meteor from LO Latios from full. I would also suggest running a lot of speed on Rotom-W - on this team, I think 216 Timid would be good, as it outruns Gyarados, a major threat, at +0.

It's a very solid looking team, I might try it later.

Hey there, pretty nice team, I like seeing Entei being used more.
I'd suggest some little changes which make the team better and less weak to some threats which look annoying. First of all I'd change Breloom for Tangrowth, it helps pretty much against Thundurus and Rain teams, which both seem to be pretty annoying. As you mentioned, Kingdra abuses the Rain gaining a huge boost to the water moves, and you lack of a decent water resistor, Breloom isnt a good one since it does not have any recover and has a frail Special Defense and Bulk, Tangrowth gives to the team a better water resistor and also with Assualt Vest it takes Kingdra pretty well. I'd recomend Earthquake which helps to lure Heatran as well, helping your choice locked Entei, also I suggest to run Rock Slide which makes you able to hit Thundurus super effectivly and Taloflame as well, or Sludge Bomb if you prefer the little Poison percentage and fairies are a little annoying.
Then my second change is to try Hidden Power Ice on Mega Diancie, it is a pretty nice gimmick move to put on, since it helps against some checks which cannot OHKO, such as Landorus-T and in particular Gliscor, which is pretty annoying to the team to face, since it has an immunity to burn, also you dont have any way to hit it with a super effective move, while it can even take a Draco Meteor and Roost the damage easily, and I do not recomend to hope in the luck with Jirachi at all. As last change I'd go for Thunderbolt on Latios, which makes the team less weak to Belly Drum Azumarill, which is another threat, as I mentioned before you lack of decent water resisotors which of course makes this threat pretty annyoing, beeing able to clean up late game. I think this is pretty much it.

I hope it helped, gl.
