- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Punch
[SET COMMENTS]
Bulk Up Buzzwole flexes its muscles to overpower types like Steel, Normal, Dark, and Water with its great coverage, innate bulk, and Beast Boost. Drain Punch and Thunder Punch provide Buzzwole with enough coverage to break through walls such as Celesteela, Blissey, and Archaludon. Darkest Lariat and Earthquake are notable for being able to 2HKO Gholdengo at +1, but Thunder Punch is still able to eventually break through Gholdengo with enough boosts. Substitute prevents Toxapex, Mega Sableye, and Ferrothorn from hampering it with status or Leech Seed. The EV spread provided prevents Buzzwole's Substitute from being broken by Seismic Toss, Scald, or Discharge from foes like Toxapex and Porygon2 and prevents Mega Swampert from 2HKOing Buzzwole in rain. 104 Speed EVs let Buzzwole outspeed Jolly Ursaluna and Azumarill, as well as Choice Band Victini and Urshifu-R if Sticky Web is in effect. The alternative spread provides Buzzwole with even more bulk, preventing Mantine's Scald from breaking the Substitute, but 72 Speed EVs only let Buzzwole outspeed up to Adamant Ursaluna, Gholdengo without Speed investment, and most Heatran, and up to Choice Specs Kyurem and Tapu Lele under Sticky Web. Due to this, Sticky Web setters like Araquanid and Galvantula are greatly appreciated; they also handle Volcarona and Landorus, which Buzzwole struggles with. Scizor deals with Fairy- and Rock-types like Mega Diancie and Mega Aerodactyl and in return, Buzzwole smashes Toxapex, Mantine, and Corviknight. Similarly, Mega Pinisr loves bulky walls like Archaludon, Iron Hands, and Toxapex getting worn down, as this lets Pinsir clean types like Dragon, Poison, and Fighting late-game. Volcarona is a special sweeper that works in tandem with Buzzwole to overwhelm teams and deals with Mega Venusaur and Gholdengo for Buzzwole. Choice Scarf Kleavor deals with fast threats like Mega Pidgeot and Mega Aerodactyl, which Buzzwole can't deal with and can pivot Buzzwole into walls like Ferrothorn and Toxapex. Forretress removes entry hazards, particularly Toxic Spikes, which hamper Buzzwole's ability to wallbreak; Forretress can also pivot in Buzzwole against Defog users like Corviknight, which Buzzwole can exploit.
