[SET COMMENTS]
Defensive Buzzwole is one of the most effective physical walls in the metagame, switching into a number of dangerous physical wallbreakers, such as Choice Band Terrakion, Weavile, Scizor lacking Dual Wingbeat, and Obstagoon, as well as a plethora of other physical attackers, all while not being particularly passive. This makes it fit on Bulky Offense teams more easily, compared to other physical walls such as Hippowdon. The given EVs allow it to outspeed max speed neutral natured Crawdaunt, allowing it to kill Crawdaunt before it can use a boosted Hydro Vortex, which OHKOs, and outspeed Mega Altaria and 0 speed Rotom-W, to Ice Punch or Toxic them respectively, with the rest dumped into physical bulk. Drain Punch is its main STAB, hitting much of the tier for neutral damage and not dropping Buzzwole's stats like Superpower. Ice Punch allows it to check Dragonium Salamence, Choice Band Tapu Bulu and Dracozolt, stop fighting resists like Latias and Salamence coming in for free, and provides decent neutral coverage. Toxic cripples walls such as Hippowdon, opposing Buzzwole and non Heal Bell Mega Altaria and lets it Toxic stall, while Bulk Up allows it to check bulky Scizor sets and act as a wincon on bulkier teams. Rocky Helmet punishes repeated U-turns attempting to wear it down and deters Urshifu-RS from clicking Surging Strikes. Leftovers gives it a bit more of a safety net against wallbreakers, such as Obstagoon and Conkeldurr.
As Buzzwole tends to be exploitable by most special attackers, pairing it with something that can deal with said special attackers, such as Blissey, Jirachi or Celesteela is a good idea. Blissey and Jirachi are notable as Buzzwole pairs very well with both Pokemon defensively - each combination checks massive portions of the metagame, and Blissey notably can act as a status sponge thanks to Natural Cure. Pokemon that deal with strong Flying and Fire-types in particular are appreciated, as these types are typically not bothered by Buzzwole, even if they are physical wallbreakers. Notable options for this include Latias, Rotom-H and Rotom-W - Latias especially switches into the majority of relevant fire types and check several other notable special attackers, while Buzzwole is able to deal with the Dark types that threaten Latias and punish U-turns headed its way with Rocky Helmet chip. However, Rotom-W is a much better check to Flying-types such as Salamence and Mega Aerodactyl. Bulky Water-types such as Slowking, Alomomola and Seismitoad can also assist in this. As a few things that Buzzwole checks can sometimes carry Toxic, such as Choice Band Terrakion, Heal Bell support from something like Mega Altaria is beneficial, especially on Bulk Up sets.

item: Choice Band

[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Band Buzzwole is one of the hardest Pokemon in the metagame to switch into, especially when coupled with its great physical bulk and decent speed tier. Choice Band boosted Superpower is extremely difficult to switch into and not be at best 2HKOd for non resistant Pokemon, bar Hippowdon and Skarmory. It has enough coverage to deal with most of the switch-ins to Superpower, only missing out on itself and Leftovers Hippowdon. Leech Life is decently powerful secondary STAB, being its best bet against Mega Slowbro, Slowking and Reuniclus. Ice Punch allows it to 2HKO Mega Altaria and, with a roll, non Leftovers Hippowdon. Thunder Punch allows it to deal with Skarmory, Primarina, Moltres, and Alomomola whilst 2HKOing Chandelure. Stone Edge is similar, but allows it to avoid the risk of Flame Body from Moltres and Chandelure, though it will fail to break past Skarmory. Earthquake is an option in the last slot if you need a way to hit Doublade, but it is otherwise inferior to the other options in this slot. Adamant is preferred as Jolly doesn’t net any notable speed tiers and means you miss out on a number of 2HKOs, notably the chance to 2HKO Rocky Helmet Hippowdon after Stealth Rock with Ice Punch and SubCM Chandelure with Thunder Punch.
This set greatly appreciates pivoting support from the likes of Rotom-H, Rotom-W, Scizor, Blissey, Slowking, Urshifu-RS and Scizor, as, while it is very bulky on the physical side even without investment, it does not want to take repeated hits as Leech Life is not particularly reliable recovery, it is slow, and it may be needed to check certain physical attackers. Slowking in particular is notable as it is able to use Future Sight to prevent Hippowdon and opposing Buzzwole from switching into this set without either being 2HKOd or outright killed after Future Sight, letting it press Superpower far more freely. Sweepers and cleaners that appreciate bulky walls heavily weakened, such as Scizor, Salamence, and Mega Sharpedo are solid partners. Bulky Water-types such as Slowking, Swampert and Alomomola, can deal with the Fire-types that threaten Buzzwole while Buzzwole in turn threatens the Grass-types that annoy the bulky Water-types. Stealth Rock Mega Diancie can help overwhelm Skarmory and Hippowdon while setting rocks to chip the two into the range of Buzzwole, while Buzzwole can break the Steel-types that Mega Diancie struggles with. Terrakion and Mamoswine are similar but both overlap somewhat with Buzzwole as a breaker. Pursuit users such as Weavile and Krookodile can eliminate opposing Psychic types, allowing Superpower to be clicked much more freely. Due to its somewhat middling speed tier, speed control support, such as a Choice Scarf Pokemon or a fast Pokemon such as Weavile or Mega Aerodactyl, is very helpful to Buzzwole. Pokemon that can deal with strong special attackers that might attempt to revenge kill it are also greatly appreciated, so partners such as Blissey, Jirachi, Slowking and Celesteela go well with it. A secondary switch into Krookodile and Weavile is appreciated as this variant doesn't want to risk losing its Choice Band to Knock Off.

move 4: Roost
item: Rockium Z
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Adamant

[SET COMMENTS]
Bulk Up Rockium Z allows Buzzwole to break past a few Pokemon that the defensive variant with Bulk Up struggles to deal with, namely Celesteela, Skarmory and Amoonguss, being able to potentially win late game once the faster special attackers are removed, as few physical attackers are capable of actually threatening it after a Bulk Up. It also allows it to double as a wallbreaker early game, luring and weakening these Pokemon for something else to have an easier time late game. Drain Punch, combined with Stone Edge, provides good neutral coverage, and is its best fighting STAB that doesn’t induce a detrimental stat drop. Roost lets it avoid being chipped down by repeated physical attackers mid sweep, as well as letting it be a more effective check to physical attackers until it is ready to go for a sweep or setup to break something. Superpower over Drain Punch can be considered if you want to focus more on breaking and luring, as opposed to sweeping lategame, but it doesn’t really break anything Drain Punch variants couldn’t. The speed allows Buzzwole to outspeed max speed neutral nature Scizor, enabling it to hit Scizor before it can OHKO with a potential Dual Wingbeat. Max attack Adamant is important as it enables it to OHKO Celesteela with boosted Continental Crush after entry hazards. The remaining EVs go into HP for overall bulk.
This set appreciates Pokemon that can deal with faster special attackers, as these can get in the way of a potential sweep and threaten to do serious damage to Buzzwole. Jirachi, Blissey and Celesteela, among others, are solid options for this role. Pokemon that like Mega Altaria lured and weakened go well with this set, as the two are typically used switchins to Buzzwole due to the threat of Choice Band or to sponge Toxics from the Defensive set, and as such will likely attempt to switch into Buzzwole. Something that can take out Hippowdon and Mega Slowbro is also nice to have, as Hippowdon can wall this set without a generally unrealistic number of boosts and either Whirlwind it or Toxic it, neither of which are ideal. Mega Slowbro takes less than half from +1 Continental Crush and can threaten a burn with Scald, making any attempts to break with Buzzwole much harder, so something to deal with that is also a good idea. Speed control, such as Choice Scarf users, is also much appreciated in order to take out faster special attackers that can threaten Buzzwole and cut a potential sweep short. Bulky Water-types such as Slowking, Swampert and Alomomola, can deal with the Fire-types that threaten Buzzwole while Buzzwole in turn threatens the Grass-types that annoy the bulky Water-types. Bulk Up Rockium Z Buzzwole also likes something that can weaken Skarmory and Defensive Mega Altaria, as both can survive +1 Continental Crush and can respond with Whirlwind or Flamethrower respectively. Heal Bell support from the likes of Mega Altaria goes well with it, as Toxic can cut any chances of a sweep short.
