  • Amoonguss's access to 100% accurate sleep in Spore, redirection in Rage Powder, excellent typing, and a low speed that allows it to function as a built-in Trick Room check makes it one of the premier support Pokemon in the metagame. Giga Drain is a weak STAB attack that does decent damage against Water-types.
  • The given EV spread lives Metagross's Zen Headbutt while maximizing Special Defense so that Amoonguss can better tank common special moves, such as Life Orb Latios's Psychic or Kyurem-B's Ice Beam. A Sassy nature with 0 Speed IVs minimizes Amoonguss's Speed so that it can function better as a Trick Room check. Most notably, it underspeeds Conkeldurr in Trick Room. Sitrus Berry can increase Amoonguss's longevity by allowing it to survive being attacked by both foes or 2HKOs it would not otherwise, thus allowing it to continue disrupting with Spore or redirection. Lum Berry is mainly for opposing Amoonguss, as it cures Amoonguss from sleep, whereas Mental Herb is mainly for Thundurus, preventing Amoonguss from being shut down by Taunt for one turn.
  • Amoonguss can be extremely flexible with its spread and item depending on the needs of the team. For example, teams can opt for a more physically defensive set if necessary.
  • Amoonguss aims to disrupt the opponent by putting key threats to sleep or supporting teammates with redirection. With its typing, Amoonguss can act as a pivot by switching into attacks and putting a threat to sleep. Against rain or Trick Room teams, it is best to preserve Amoonguss's health as much as possible, as it matches up well against them.
  • Amoonguss is extremely flexible, so it can fit on many team compositions. Jellicent is an excellent teammate, forming a defensive core that is generally capable of answering anything in the metagame. Landorus-T is another great teammate due to Intimidate weakening opposing physical attackers, its ability to threaten Thundurus, Heatran, and Metagross, and access to U-turn, which allows it to pivot safely into Amoonguss. Finally, Amoonguss synergizes well with Heatran, as it can redirect Fighting- and Water-type attacks as well as allows Heatran to set up Substitute easier.

  • I'd change the set name to 'Redirection Support' to be slightly more specific.
  • You say Giga Drain is a "reliable STAB" and has the "added benefit" of hitting Water-types but that's overselling it, hitting Waters is really the only time you want to use it because of how weak it is and how much more useful its other moves are - against dex spread Jellicent, Giga Drain isn't even a 3HKO. You should tone down how you speak about Giga Drain to reflect that. 0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Jellicent: 108-128 (26.7 - 31.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
  • Specify Life Orb Latios Psychic, people might think it only lives unboosted (Dragon Gem).
  • Mention min Speed letting Amoonguss underspeed Conkeldurr specifically.
  • For Sitrus Berry I think it would be better to say something along the lines of letting Amoonguss survive double targets or 2HKOs it would not otherwise.
  • I think saying to run speed investment for other Amoonguss isn't allowed, but if you change it to something along the lines of just running neutral/not min then it should be fine?
  • Living Choice Band Outrage takes near max Defence, is that really worth it/used? I could see that being the case but want to make sure. 252+ Atk Choice Band Teravolt Kyurem-Black Outrage vs. 252 HP / 224+ Def Amoonguss: 364-430 (84.2 - 99.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • Personally I think resist berries on Amoonguss just always seem good on paper but aren't actually worthwhile enough in practice so I'd say to remove them, in my opinion. For Papaya Berry I can at least see an argument in BW, but Occa Berry I really don't think is worth it when Heatran is the only Fire-type and that Substitutes on you anyways.
  • Heatran is another notable partner, the two have great synergy and redirection is nice for safely getting a Substitute up.
Nice work, do for QC 1/2.

A Sassy nature with 0 Speed IVs minimizes Amoonguss's Speed so that it can function better as a Trick Room check. Most notably, it underspends Conkeldurr in Trick Room. • Payapa Berry is an alternative item to allow Amoonguss to better tank Psychic-type attacks. If there's a specific calc we should mention it here, I generally agree with Yoda that Sitrus is better overall. It's also not slashed, and I think it should be? Since there's no proper OO section.

  • Amoonguss is extremely flexible so it can fit on many teams with minimal direct support. I would probably cut the part about direct support, given that it's a supportive mon itself and the following section covers the teammates and the support it offers well. Up to you, though. Jellicent is an excellent teammate, forming a defensive core that is generally capable of answering anything in the metagame. Landorus-T is another great teammate due to Intimidate weakening opposing physical attackers, ability to threaten Thundurus, Heatran, and Metagross, and access to U-Turn which allows it to pivot safely into Amoonguss. Giga Drain is a weak STAB attack that does alright decent personal preference w/ this change (alright sounds pitiful to me here); you don't have to accept it damage against Water-types.

Sitrus Berry can increase Amoonguss's staying-power longevity by allowing it to survive double targets spread damage if this is incorrect then do you mean multi-hit moves? or 2HKOs it would not otherwise, thus allowing it to continue disrupting
I meant when both of the opponent's pokemon target Amoonguss. Would double targets still work or is there a more appropriate wording? Thank you in advance for all the GP checks!!

try this

Sitrus Berry can increase Amoonguss's staying-power longevity by allowing it to survive double targets being attacked by both foes i think this is more clear or 2HKOs it would not otherwise, thus allowing it to continue disrupting with Spore or redirection.
