The investment in HP also allows Arcanine to always survive Earthquake and Rough Skin damage from Jolly Garchomp and usually survive Choice Band Haxorus's Earthquake. Outrage can OHKO all of the aforementioned Dragon-types, but it is not guaranteed against Garchomp. One common Dragon-type Arcanine struggles against is Latias; since Arcanine loses to both Reflect Type and Dragon Gem sets, it is advised to pair Arcanine with a Pokemon that can reliably beat Latias.

Choice Band Arcanine is a very straightforward attacker. In most cases, use the attack that does the most damage.
