Hey, I'm a sorta kind of new player to the competitive scene. I have made my way trough Battle Towers, Frontiers, Subways and even played on many simulators online but nothing to serious. I know my basics but I need help with this team which I have fallen in love with.
Do excuse me if I go on a ramble and you don't like to read. I'm pretty experienced with battles but RMT's are new to me.
Looking at the title the strategy of the team is Sandstorm so let's dive right into it.
Svampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240HP/ 216Def/ 52Spd
Nature: Relaxed
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Ice Beam
Back in 4th gen Svampert was pretty much the most solid Stealth Rock lead in the OU metagame. As far as I know it seems he's fallen into UU but I still keep my faith in him.
Stealth Rock is obvious.
Earthquake is of course the best attack he can have dealing with pretty much anything along with the big boys such as Tyranitar, Scizor and any Electric types and so on.
While I saw a lot of Scald and Surf sets due to burn chance and higher power I decided to take advantage of his higher Attack stat and went with Waterfall. It was a good decision.
Ice Beam for them nasty little Grass types trying to take Svampert out, along with Flying types and what else but the omnipresent Dragon types.
Hydreigon @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4HP/ 251 SpA/ 251 Spe
Nature: Modest
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
Oh boy here we go, possibly my most dangerous member but also the only one who isn't immune to the Sandstorm so after Svampert he's usually the one to go on a rampage.
Draco Meteor is the holy grail, the golden goose, the attack you can pretty much always fall back on and destroy! What can I say?
Dark Pulse is another great coverage against Psychic and Ghost type and hits pretty damn hard on anything neutral. If I'm scared my other three attacks won't hit this is something I can fall back on.
Fire Blast has helped me so much! With half my team weak against Grass types switch to the beast and bamm!
Focus Blast can 2HKO Blissey and usually kills Tyranitar and is a unpleasant surprise to the occasional Ice type that crosses Hydreigon's path.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248HP/ 252 SpD/ 8 Spe
Nature: Calm
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Protect
- Toxic
A good Pokémon that has been useful but if you look at my team you may notice I'm about the offense. Then again Toxic/ Protect can be annoying for the opponent and easy to do. Heatran is a recent addition to the team so I haven't gotten to use him much like the others. But here goes.
Lava Plume... as you'd expect it's great after switching into a Grass attack and and then burning.
Roar I have honestly only used once against a Conkeldurr after a Toxic so I'm thinking of replacing it with something more offensive like Earth Power or Hidden Power Ice or Grass. Maybe if Svampert fails on the Stealth Rock I can use Heatran as a back up.
Protect and Toxic as I mention earlier is pretty damn great late game cause by then the Sandstorm has ravaged everyone along with the usual attacks. So it takes down anyone not using Leftovers or is healing with Recovery or Roost.
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs:4HP /251 SpA/ 251 Spe
Nature: Modest
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Vacuum Wave
- Hidden Power Ice
A personal favorite. This steel jackal is just my perfect Pokémon I can always fit into any team.
Life Orb, Modest and 251 EV into SpA and STAB Aura Sphere is the best thing ever! With only one other Fighting type attack in the whole team the Hadouken is my go to against Tyranitar and most other Pokémon.
Dark Pulse is in a similar position to Aura Sphere is in that it's almost the only other Dark type but then again it's not the greatest coverage so I'm thinking of Flash Cannon for STAB and a chance of lowering SpD.
Vacuum Wave makes Lucario a fantastic revenge killer, finishing off anything that doesn't resist and is 50% health or so.
Hidden Power makes for another great counter against those Grass types and Dragons so it's just super.
Tyranitar @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4HP/ 251 Atk/ 251 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail
- Crunch
The heart and soul of the team. Usually the third to go in after Hydreigon is down or injured. Sandstorm get's things going and once the monster is out of his ball things get killed fast if by some chance a Focus Blast doesn't smash his face in! Can't risk having him hampered so he get's a Lum Berry.
Dragon Dance set as you can see. After one or two dances it's time to get the broom out and cause mayhem.
Can't say much about Stone Edge, I mean what Tyranitar doesn't have Stone Edge.
Aqua Tail gives me a pretty damn powerful water type attack altough a bit inaccurate but I needed the coverage.
Crunch, same deal as Stone Edge.
Landorus @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Force
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Substitute
Holy s***! Substitute, Sword Dance SWEEP! My late game sweeper and a damn good one. With Sandstorm in place I can take advantage of Sand Force dealing insane damage with Earthquake and Stone Edge.
Seems I have nothing much else to say, simple but powerful.
Substitute is a weird move honestly and Swords Dance while useful make things slightly limited with only two moves that while powerful makes Landorus somewhat predictable, but that's why he's late game.
There you have it, maybe it's a little long but if you managed to read trough that please do go ahead and comment on it.
I realize I have severe weaknesses to Water and Grass but at the same time I have some nice resistances and a crazy powerful team.
Out of 15 matches I played before making this RMT I won 8 but that was only for today, I have had a lot of success. So yeah destroys anything that doesn't have a whole lot of Grass and Water types. Love this team but feel it's maybe too risky.
Thank you.
