BW OU Team: B.I.G. Storm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypP8sMHo74Y

Schwatt up ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know why I said gentlemen cause we all know that only girls play Pokémon. Am I right? lol Jk Anyways I took a little break from the game so I could catch up on my grades and such and now I’m back! I made this new team which I have been play testing, it’s good but could use some help. It’s a Sandstorm team because I wanted to have a weather team for OU Meta because it’s one of the best teams out there. I decided on Sandstorm over Rain Dance because Tyranitar is a boss and he’s the only Weather poke that is good on his own and won’t take up a spot on the team. I’m not saying politoed and Ninetales are bad it’s just that they aren’t super-duper good.

Tyranitar.png

Tyranitar (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Superpower
- Ice Beam
- Crunch

This Tyranitar is Sp Def Wall and is my Stealth Rock Lead. He is very good for soaking up a Sp Atk that is thrown at him, if the enemy lead is a physical Atker then I will switch into Gliscor or Ferrothorn. His move set is very effective with the ability to counter most enemy leads, Superpower counter enemy Tyranitar while they set up Stealth Rock and will give me an early Six-Five lead. Ice Beam counters the three genies witch became very popular since I’ve been gone, Then last but not least is Crunch…. it’s just there for STAB. I might switch it out for Pursuit but idk.

Excadrill (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 204 HP / 252 Atk / 52 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break

Excadrill is a staple in Sandstorm Teams just plain and simple, and is the first Pokémon in my Offensive core. I run a Bulky Banded Excadrill version because it terrors things up. I run Adamant Nature and 252 Atk EVs to max out its offensive power, then I gave him 52 EVs in Speed, and then I gave the rest of the EVs to HP. Giving him 52 Speed Evs puts his normal Sp Stat at 225, Then while Sandstorm is up his Sand Rush Doubles it to 450 Sp Stat. This is fast enough to out speed mostly everything in the Meta besides Max Spd Excadrill and Deoxys-S. Even though my Excadrill doesn’t favor to well against other Excadrill I have 2 checks against him so I don’t worry too much. I like this set up better because it allows Excadrill to stay in the game longer and take hits that people wouldn’t predict it to, then come back and smash their face in. And the move set gives me the best coverage that Excadrill can provide, I really like Brick Break cause it counters Blissey and Ferrothorn.

Suicune.png

Suicune @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Sp Def
Modest Nature (+Sp Atk, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Shadow Ball

The second part of my Offensive core is Bulky Life Orb Suicune. It’s good coverage and resistance to Water and Ice make it a good partner for the other two Pokémon in my core being able to switch into super effective attacks against them with Max HP and good Def/Sp Def stats. I run Life Orb to deal that extra damage because I like Scald over Hydro Pump, but I need Calm Mind for Scald to deal the damage that I want it to. And when I take the time to set up Calm Mind It makes me waste a turn while my enemy switches out into their counter for Suicune, which will force me to switch out and lose my offensive momentum. So that’s my reasoning for Life Orb, and I run Bulky because I find myself predicting a Water or Ice Atk and then switching into Suicune to take it. So Suicune acts like a secondary Sp Wall kind of and is part of the offensive core. The Move Set is pretty standard except for the shadow ball, which I threw in there over CM, because I needed a check to Gengar and Suicune does it nicely.

Latios.png

Latios (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Psyshock

The last part of my Offensive core Scarfed Latios! I was thinking of running Specs Latios because it’s so powerful and fast enough to out speed any unboosted dragon. But people there’s always that chance that someone might run a Scarfed Dragon to counter DD Salamence or SD Garchomp, and I don’t want to run the risk of being out sped by another dragon. So I picked Latios and threw Scarf on him knowing that it’s the fastest dragon so my Draco Meteor will always hit first (unless the enemy dragon has a DD or two under their belt). That’s my reasoning for Scarf over Specs, and the Move Set is standard: Draco Meteor STAB, Hidden Power [Fire] to counter Ferrothorn (even though in Sandstorm it gets a SP Def Boost and if they have any Sp Def Evs which most do, will make me Two hit KO them, which makes me sad :(, Thunderbolt Is cool, and Psyshock as another out to Conkeldurr. The main idea behind Scarfed Latios in here is to have him and Suicune take out all the Physical Walls and counters to Excadrill, then have Excadrill come in and Spam Earthquake or Rock Slide and take the game from there.

Ferrothorn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Hardy Nature
- Spikes
- Seed Bomb
- Protect
- Leech Seed

Ferrothorn is in here as my Spiker and a Physical wall, and he does a damn fine job at both. Not much to say about him He’s like the most Pokémon right now, and for good reason. He just sits there and laughs while you try to take him down. I have him in here check water types with Seed Bomb. And I run Seed Bomb over Power Whip because Power Whip has the all mighty 85% and it misses when I need it to clutch. Protect and leach Seed make a great combo for stalling out Physical attackers, and it’s always nice to set up a layer of spikes or two. It’s not necessary that I get up entry hazards to win on this team, I can usually get up Stealth Rock with Tyranitar and if can sneak in spikes its nice bonus but I don’t prioritize it on this team.

Gliscor.png

Gliscor (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Screech

Originally I thought this Pokémon was garbage, I over looked him and I regret that! Gliscor is Such a Boss! He is the perfect Counter to Excadrill and Conkeldurr, and not just them but to any Physical Atker that doesn’t Ice Punch me in the Cabeza. If you look at the move set you’ll see I run tech Screech. Now most of you will probably be “like…. WTF?” But trust me it’s so good, no one see’s it coming and it causes switches if they know what it does, or just lets Gliscor Poop on kids without them knowing WTF hit them. What Screech does is Reduces Enemy Defensive Stats by two Stages. This allows Gliscor to terror people apart. It Counters Conkeldurr Bulk up by making them go minus one defense every time they do it, and then I can go in for the cleanup with Aerial Ace. Screech also wrecks Ferrothorn, and just pretty much is a badass move. The only bad thing is that it has 85% accuracy and will miss once in a while. But if you can pull it off its clutch, and if you decided to test out this set my advice is; if you use screech and it misses stop trying to do it, because you already loss a turn and so it’s always good to have a plan B for when it misses.

So that’s my Sandstorm team! I hope you guys like it, Comments, Fixes, and Rates are appreciated! I know there’s stuff that can be fixed about this team. As I said I’m just getting back into it and I know that stuff happened when I was gone so I probably missed an important Pokémon that I don’t have a check for, or something on those lines. Thanks for reading guys!

Nice Team. Just a few ideas:

Fire Blast over Superpower on Tyranitar. This allows you to roast opposing Ferrothorn. You say that Ferrothorn gets a Special Defense boost in sand. It does not. Only Rock types get the boost so no matter what HP Fire is gonna be a 2HKO unless there's Sun on the field. Furthermore, some Ferrothorn carry Thunder Wave, which completely ruins Latios.

Speaking of Latios, how about Trick over Psyshock or Thunderbolt? With Team Preview, you can generally see if there is anything on the opposing team you need to outspeed and revenge, so once you get that out of the way (or if your opponent doesn't have it), you can Trick away your Choice Item onto a support pokemon and cripple it.

For Gliscor, is Screech REALLY that much more effective than Swords Dance? It has pretty much the same effect, except you get to keep the boosts if you KO something. It's also 100% accurate.

Again, nice team and these are just some ideas to throw around.

Good Luck!
