  • One of the only setup attackers in the metagame, Scizor's great defensive typing and priority Technician-boosted STAB attack in Bullet Punch make it a dangerous force if boosted. That said, Scizor relies heavily on Swords Dance to be threatening and can be slowed down by Intimidate. Additionally, it struggles heavily to beat some of the metagame's most common Pokemon, such as Jellicent and Thundurus, and is hard-countered by Heatran.
  • Bug Bite is a solid second Technician-boosted STAB attack that is stronger than Bullet Punch and can steal berries from common Pokemon such as Cresselia and Amoonguss.
  • Steel Gem is the preferred item, because it powers up Bullet Punch, Scizor's most commonly used attack, notably allowing it to OHKO Latios after a Swords Dance boost. Steel Gem can also allow Scizor to do respectable damage even without a Swords Dance boost.
  • Scizor's main goal is to set up Swords Dance as safely as possible to clean the opposing team with its priority Bullet Punch. Focus on removing Steel-type resistances and Pokemon that threaten Scizor so that it can properly sweep uninhibited.
  • Politoed and Kingdra are great teammates due to their ability to remove Heatran and Landorus-T, while they benefit from Scizor's ability to threaten Tyranitar, Kyurem-B, and Latios. Tyranitar can threaten Jellicent, Thundurus, and Heatran, opening the door for Scizor to set up. Additionally, the residual damage from sand can put Pokemon in range of being KOed by Scizor's attacks. Finally, Thundurus can threaten Jellicent while being able to prevent Will-O-Wisp or Spore with Taunt.

  • I would caveat Scizor's typing as being good defensively, since offensively it's not the best.
  • Add Thundurus as one of Scizor's checks.
  • The second sentence of the first point sounds like you're talking about a single flaw when I think they should be clear as two different things. I'd also emphasise more how hard Scizor struggles against these Pokemon, since it really gets shut down hard by them (especially Heatran - mention that).
  • Mention Intimidate slowing Scizor down.
  • Bug Bite stealing berries is nice, but you don't actually mention the basic point of it being stronger than Bullet Punch (without Steel Gem). I also don't think Jellicent and Thundurus are the best examples since they resist and you ideally want to avoid them, I'd instead use Cresselia for something you hit notably hard, and Amoonguss for a berry holder. Lastly, I'd remove the part of Bug Bite giving "utility outside of cleaning".
  • Remove the elaboration of Heatran as one of biggest Scizor's biggest counters when talking about rain (but keep the mention of beating Heatran), that explanation should be covered earlier already.
  • Thief over Bug Bite is a cute tech I remember seeing in some past DPL to hit Jellicent harder, but I think that's the precisely one time I've seen it, and Bug Bite is better otherwise, so probably not worth a mention.

Good work, do for QC 1/2.

  • One of the only setup attackers in the metagame, Scizor's great defensive typing and priority Technician-boosted STAB attack in Bullet Punch makes it a dangerous force if boosted. That said, Scizor relies heavily on Swords Dance to be threatening and is held back by its inability to reliably set up what makes it unreliable?. Additionally, it struggles heavily to beat the metagame's most common Pokemon, such as Jellicent and Thundurus and is hard-countered by Heatran. intimidate should be mentioned here, not sure if thats what you were getting at in the other sentence

  • Steel Gem is the preferred item because it powers up Bullet Punch, Scizor's most commonly used attack, allowing it to do respectable damage even without a Swords Dance boost. worth mentioning that with a swords dance and steel gem boost you ohko latios
  • Scizor's main goal is to set up Swords Dance as safely as possible so that it can clean the opposing team with its priority Bullet Punch. Make sure that threats to Scizor are either removed or weakened, as they can easily slow down Scizor. slow down doesn't feel like the best phrasing here, i think instead "Focus on removing Steel resists and Pokemon that threaten Scizor so that it can properly sweep uninhibited" or something similar
