BW Stall

This is my second attempt at an RMT, my first one didn't go so well. After a few battles I realized my last team actually sucked and had infinite weaknesses. I am not a huge fan of weather teams as I find they all end up being the same, so I am trying a stall team. Anyone reading this should know I am very new to competitive battling and would love to hear why this team sucks and who to put in or take out.

Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind

It's a stall team so of course I'm running SkarmBliss, however I don't use taunt on my Skarmory because I found I hardly ever used it in battle, if someone get s spike down I just throw in phan and spin away. This is my lead in about 40% of matches, if its a rain team I know I can get one layer down on the switch out if it's rain. I like spikes and stealth rock, a lot of people just put up their own and then they get spun away on the next turn. Once I get all my hazards up I love switching into a physical attacker then whirlwinding their switch in, I get hazard damage to 2 pokemon

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
- Aromatherapy
- Toxic

Your standard Blissey, I have been debating throwing in wish instead but I would lose aromatherapy. I find though if Blissey is my last I can usually stall out their last mon(barring fighting moves) with softboiled while status takes them down.

Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hardy Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb

If I see they don't have a toxic type to absorb TS then I lead with her, use sleep powder then get two layers down thanks to my focus sash, if they have a toxic spikes layer then I save her to absorb those. Giga drain over leaf storm as a type of recovery and SB for STAB

232.png

Donphan (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Here's my spinner, Earthquake and stone edge are for STAB and they're great moves. This team might do better with ice shard seeing how I only have one ice move and sometimes have trouble with gliscor and landorus, but I don't want to take up a move slot on my heatran for SR.

490.png

Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Time for my favorite pokemon. I like him so much it hurts me because I always try to fit him into my team. He's here to soak in those fire attacks and then send back with a move that I think will hit their switch in the hardest. Playing with a heatran takes a lot of predicting. If i guess wrong I get an earth power that doesn't hit or a non-effective move. That's why I love WoW so much, if I have no idea what my opponent is sending in I just WoW away and hope for a burn.

Sableye (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Trick

This pokemon has single handily won me the most matches, You would be surprised how many people are unprepared for him. The choice band is strictly for using trick on what I feel is their most important mon. I love switching into their best wall and tricking blissey into one move, also works great on pokemon who like to set up once or twice then they have to switch out and lose all their boosts. I'm weak to another prankster using taunt but I hardly ever see those, Alternating between taunt and recover at the ends of game makes people quit often as their burn widdles away their HP. However the most important thing he does is switch in on suicide leads(anyone running explosion) and fighting or psychic moves. Pokemon who have a substitute up make him pointless so anyone running that is a danger to this team.

That's it, my first team that I usually win with. I am open to any suggestions and would welcome them. If there is any pokemon that you think would cover up weaknesses and make this team better please tell me i am not offended at all by criticisms.

Contrary to your beliefs, this team isn't that bad. Maybe just a couple set changes here and there. But, as of right now stall isn't that great in the metagame. It is usable, but with all the offensive behemoths its hard.

Ummm first I think you should use Roost on Skarmory over Stealth Rocks because it will increase his survivability and you already have rocks on Donphan.

On Donphan Ice Shard might be better than Stone Edge because of the priority.

I know Heatran is your favorite Pokemon and his offensive set is good, but maybe a more defensive approach like a spread like Calm with 248 HP/252 SDef/8Spd and Roar over HP Ice because stall teams usually rely more on residual damage from hazards and not so much on offensive synergy.

Likewise Roserade is a good suicide lead because of its speed and power. If your running this set than Leaf Storm would probably be more helpful, but a specially defensive set is viable too utilizing Rest + Natural cure.

Sorry that's a lot of suggestions lol. Hope at least one of them helped.

uslowbro is right, this isn't a bad team at all, its mainly the sets (why do my fellow newby stallers always use such bad sets >.>)

Im going to go over a lot of his suggestions quick just to be sure you do them:

-roost on skarm over stealth rock to heal
-specially defensive Heatran for more survivability
-standard Sableye, as it can do some real damage to stall and hyper offensive teams, tricking choice band is cool and all, butyou might not get leftovers in return and attacking with only wisp is pretty bad
-a more defensive Roserade so it isn't so suicidal

Other that that I would also like to suggest 252 HP / 252 Def Calm on Blissey, it takes pursuits fine and increases special bulk.

Sableye (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Night Shade

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Toxic
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Stealth Rock

Roserade (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Rest
- Toxic Spikes
- Giga Drain

Ok looking at this team, as much as I love Blissey, Heatran as pretty shitty special synergy with her. Outside of dealing with Lati@s, Heatran brings little to the table as far as helping Blissey. Since you want to keep Heatran, Blissey probably has to go. Easily the best fix would be Latias > Blissey to cover overall the same special threats. Latias can also be an emergency check to Terrakion and Latios (lol 30 ivs of HP fire), it also will help combat Keldeo and check the new Thundurus.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Psyshock
- Dragon Pulse

Hey, this isn't a bad stall team really.
I would however recommend that you change up your Roserade. If you're running a stall team, then it would not be the best idea to have a suicide lead, especially if u need her later on to absorb toxic spikes.
A great set for stall teams is
Roserade@leftovers
Calm
-Leaf Storm
-Sleep Powder
-Toxic Spikes
-Rest
252 hp/4 spA/252 spD
This is one of my all time favorite sets because of just how annoying it is, how powerful it's leaf storm is, and how defensive it can be. It has a very high special defense and can take many repeated hits, and then just rest and switch out. Natural Cure heals sleep, and with good prediction it can be a fairly good check to breloom as it resists both STABs and does not get heavily affected by being slept.
I hope this helped, and I'm just going to say that I second the use of Latias as well.
