[BW2 OU] Dry Sand

Hi!
I am new here at Smogon Forum and I registered to learn more about competitive pokemon with you all.
Down there is my humble team that is built around pokémon that I think it's great and I don't see him having the usage it deserves: Gastrodon.
The team has some flaws that I do not have experience to solve and that's why I'm posting here the RMT to ask you to help me improving my team.
I am now waiting for the next Smogon Tutors to find someone available to help me improving, but if anyone here knows how to build good teams and plays well and most importantly wants to teach Pokémon to someone please talk to me because I'm interested. Without further ado, I will introduce the team and build process.

Building Process

This is my choice of Pokémon to build the team. Gastrodon is so epic in countering Rotom-W, paraflinch Jirachi (if JiraHax doesn't hit me like 20 consecutive flinches, I'm okay) and is so anti-metagame and most importantly, anti Specs Hydro Pump spam in the rain that I decided to put him as my starting point. His role on the team will be as a Special Tank.

I needed a Physical Wall to help Gastrodon because he's weak to Physical moves. He's also frail to grass types, so why not adding Skarmory in the team? Despite being an excelent Physical Wall, he's good with grass types, scares them away with Brave Bird and his weakness to Electric is well covered by Gastrodon.

The defense of the team is acceptable, now I needed a sweeper. I didn't want to have a weather dependent one so I chosed Latios. He's powerfull and has good typing. With Psyshock he can hit in the Physical side too.

Well, the team had only Latios as a sweeper, steel types would laugh at me if Terrakion wasn't here. He's the stall breaker and the powerhouse of the team. He's supposed to enter safely and spam one of his STABs to unbalance the opponents defense.

Well, rain teams, despite gastrodon being in the team, were strong against me, so I decided to bring sand to the field. Hippo is my choice because he's a great physical wall and can bring SR out as well as phaze a little bit. Paired with skarmory they can set up the hazards and let me play a semi-stall role when my sweepers aren't enough.

I hate keldeo so much! Only latios could scare him and Subs+CM ones could give me trouble. This final guy is here to surprise with Clear Smog, Spore pokes that are troublesome and make my special defense duo complete.

On Detail

OeAYpnW.png

Gastrodon (Gastrodon-East) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Def / 172 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Recover

This is a standard set for Gastrodon, it is good the way it is and there's no need to change anything. I prefered Ice Beam over toxic because I already have toxic in amoonguss and Ice Beam lets me hit hard flying types and most importantly, Dragons who thing they are protected to set up because they have a lum berry. Scald is the first STAB that allows me to burn some oponents and if they are Physical Sweepers awesome *.*
Earth Power is there as my stongest STAB. All those 3 attacks are usefull and combined with a Storm Drain +1 Sp.Atk make Gastrodon a difficult thing to swith w/o taking damage.

cGnjx4V.png

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird

My premier physical wall. It doesn't have whirlwind because I find Taunt important to not let ferrothorn do what he wants. Many of them enter on Gastrodon and I change to this birdie to Taunt them and gain some free turns to put Spikes on the field. Roost is for recovery and Brave Bird is here to hit when it is necessary.

j1cCQlW.png

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Roost

Roost Latios is somewhat uncommon but it does his funcion, Latios can stand on the field longer and SR damage won't be so effective because I can heal that damage. This way, Latios can enter in the field when I want and I don't need to be that cautious about his remaining HP. Draco Meteor is powerfull enough to 2HKO everyone that doesn't resist it. The ones who resist it or can tank it are threatned with Psyshock. HP fire works great against Scizor that comes to pursuit.

qzYJJQR.png

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- X-Scissor
- Stone Edge
- Quick Attack

This guy is the responsable for late game sweeping and for opening holes in the opponent's team. He's so powerfull that I don't even need to think a lot when using him. Close Combat spam if there aren't ghosts, if there are some, Stone Edge for the predict. Terrakion can 2HKO anything that comes!
Quick Attack to deal with brelooms and scizors with less HP left and X-Scissor for coverage move.

dP3bcKJ.png

Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Fang
- Slack Off

I used to hate hippos in the zoo. They don't smell good and are ugly. But hippowdon made me love hippos! He's so bulky... I can take almost any Physical hit that doesn't hit him super-effective, and Roar is there to phaze away any thing that can come to put my Hippo in danger.
Slack Off because hippos are lazy and they need to recover health and SR to put the field the way I like it.

tNhpniw.png

Amoonguss (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Spore

That marshmallow is the troller of the team. He enters, spores the poke on the field and goes away recovering his HP with regenerator.
When I think he can beat the sleeping opponent I choose let him stay to suck HP with Giga Drain.
Clear Smog is also for troll, he enters, tanks a hit from keldeo and takes away his CM's... Toxic is my option for Rotom-W and other kind of pokemon that my team handles well checking them but their partners are a priority to put sleeping.

Abomasnow: When I see it in the preview, I put gastrodon as lead to force him to use a grass move, then I switch to skarmoy. If he switches then it is choiced and I can deal with him using hazards + checking, if it isn't then I can sweep him with latios or terrakion who are both faster and give him OHKO

65.png
Alakazam: This motherf***** is a pain in the ass... I usually sacrifice one of my pokemons to take out his sash and use another to kill him... but he always takes out one pokémon

482.png
Azelf: I've never fought any Azelf, but I believe gastrodon can wall his moves and terrakion can OHKO with X-Scissor.

184.png
Azumarill: Storm Drain bait! If gastro is fainted, I can use amoonguss to face him.

Ani286MS.png
Breloom: most of them carry Spore, so I let them spore the less usefull pokémon in the team for the battle and I finish him with latios or spore him for revenge with amoonguss

Ani251MS.png
Celebi: Skarmoy deals with the ones who don't have HP fire, if it has, I call out terrakion predicting the HP fire and scare him away. It is dangerous for the team but can be dealt with hazards and checking.

Ani091MS.png
Cloyster: Can destroy me if it catches me by surprise... But it can only setup Shell Smash in front of Gastrodon, all the others can kill him or phaze him away.

Ani534MS.png
Conkeldurr: Latios is my only hope, when I see him, I save spore for the occasion when he enters the field.

Ani555MS.png
Darmanitan: Hm, nice try against gastrodon or hippowdon.

Ani149MS.png
Dragonite: Skarmory walls physical ones without fire punch, taunts him to not let him bring so much DD and wears it down slowly with brave bird. If it carries fire punch, I switch to hippowdon and phaze him. He can only enter safely against a -2 Sp.Atk Latios with multiscale or against my CC locked cb terrakion... all the others can give him problems if he starts setting up.

51.png
Dugtrio: Terrakion is the only target to dugtrio, all the others don't have problems with him.

395.png
Empoleon: I haven't saw anyone in OU, but gastrodon deals with him easly.

Ani196MS.png
Espeon: I put latios on the field and make him switch. If he enters on hippowdon, I attack him with EQ that 2HKO the standard espeons

445.png
Garchomp: Most of them are choiced, Skarmory deals with him.

Ani094MS.png
Gengar: Gastrodon can take him out... I haven't seen one with GigaDrain yet. Latios can KO him but is risky because it'll be a speed tie.

368.png
Gorebyss: Gastrodon says hello! If he baton passes the problem depends on the poke that the boosts are passed.

576.png
Gothitelle: I haven't seen anyone... but Gastrodon can destroy the scarfed one I think.

Ani130MS.png
Gyarados: If I have SR in the field and gastrodon is healty, I enter in his waterfall and spam Ice Beams or Scalds (for burn purposes) on him.

Ani612MS.png
Haxorus: skarmory takes care of him.

Ani485MS.png
Heatran: terrakion takes care, gastrodon too, hippodon too if he's sp def heatran... no problem with him.

Ani635MS.png
Hydreigon: skarmory can wall his STAB, if he goes for fire blast, terrakion enters and kills. Any of my sweepers can revenge kill him.

Ani392MS.png
Infernape: Gastrodon stops him, if he carries grass know, latios revenge kills. Latios fully counters the ones without uturn.

Ani385MS.png
Jirachi: gastrodon stops him, hippowdon can kill him too.

647.png
Keldeo: Amoonguss and Gastrodon pair up to beat the poney.

230.png
Kingdra: Troublesome if I let him set up... if it is the rain dance variant, gastrodon takes him out, otherwise I handle it with skarmory and try to revenge kill with terrakion or latios (if he setups he can destroy my team).

646.png
Kyurem: Terrakion takes care of him, gastrodon can wall him also.

646-black.png
Kyurem-B: skarmory is my choice against choice scarf ones... the others I let terrakion or latios do the job.

Ani645MS.png
Landorus: He's a pain in the ass if I don't predict correctly his set. Physical ones are completely walled by skarmory. Special ones i need to predict earth power, put latios and attack him... Or if gastrodon is at full health, Ice Beam OHKO's the monster. Still it manages to take out one or two pokemons from me most of the time.

645-therian.png
Landorus-T: Skarmory deals with him.

Ani380MS.png
Latias: Gastrodon walls her and makes her switch with ice beam. If her sets up too much and is faster than terrakion, then I'll be in a problem.

Ani381MS.png
Latios: I normally put skarmory to take his draco meteor, which puts me around 40% HP, then I put my terrakion to scare him away and hit his switch with power.

Ani448MS.png
Lucario: Hippowdon says hello.

Ani462MS.png
Magnezone: He can trap my skarmory but does anything against the rest of the team.

I have been testing this team and i must say its pretty solid, the only problem are Latis and Gengar(cuz they are so unpredictable) and boosted dragons (if skarm is out and hippo gets 2koed by them after a boost) So i would say to consider running a scarf Latios to deal with this problems. And also i made some slight changes to the team so imma leave them below.

thanks!
I will test the modifications. I'm having trouble with the threat list because I don't know how to do one and explain the weakness of the team correctly xd

Probably I will accept all the modifications but not the toxic in Gastrodon, I really used Ice Beam and It was good because there are always people who don't guess Ice Beam on gastrodon

first off whirlwind>taunt on skarmory. I no u lik to taunt ferrothorn and wat not but phazing out greedy set up sweepers especially things lik dragonite and gyarados is too good to pass up(also lets u abuse spikes). I used to run a sand team instead wit a similar core and i say alakazam>latios. latios gets pursuit trapped in a heartbeat by tyranitar if it dusnt hav surf.Alakazam can also revenge kill wit a sash and dusnt take sandstorm damage while havin a chance agaisnt t-tar. I think u shud scarf ur terrakion if u want som real revenge killing(i ran mamo so u can try him also). Stoutland is also nice even tho u dont want ur pokes to be weather dependant(good pursuit trapper also).

latios is important to the team, I can't switch im out for alakazam who damn frail.

but I replaced taunt for whirlwind. Thanks ^^
