So, after my last post, I decided to experiment alittle with some Pokemon that worked great with my new favorite Pokemon, Mienshao. Mienshao is a great scout, powerful Pokemon and very versatile. Anyways, here's the team:
Mienshao@ LifeOrb; Regenerator
Jolly: 252 Attack & Speed/4 Sp.Defense
Moves: Hi Jump Kick, Stone Edge, Fake Out & U-turn
Mienshao, as previously mentioned is my scout and possible sweeper. It's wide variety of uses gathered my attention early on in my training. Hi Jump Kick, being the strongest attack, is used more often than not if I'm sure that Mienshao can OHKO the foes in using it. Otherwise, I use U-turn to get Mienshao out as quick as possible. Stone Edge handles those Dragon types, namely Salamence and Dragonite, who think they can come right onto the field and bully Mienshao with little difficulty. Obviously, Fake Out is to scout...
Reuniclus@ Leftovers; Magic Guard
Bold: 252 Hp & Defense/4 Sp.Defense
Moves: Psychic, Shadowball, Calm Mind & Recover
Reuniclus, too, is very versatile as it can serve as somewhat of a wall for special attacks as well as physical attacks. After setting up a few simple Calm Minds, Reuniclus Recovers any residual damage, while also absorbing any statuses it gathers along the way. Reuniclus is known on the team as my "go to guy" for a status spongue; namely burn and poison. Psychic is for power and the chance to lower the foe's Sp.Defense. Shadowball deals with opposing Psychic types and Ghost types. Dark types, on the other hand, are fairly dealt with after setting up enough Calm Minds to damage them with enough power (with Shadowball ofcourse) to make them shutter eventually. Recover, as previously mentioned, heals Reuniclus, replinishing the residual damage while setting up for a sweep using Calm Mind.
Hydreigon@ Expert Belt
Timid: 252 Sp.Attack & Speed/4 Hp
Moves: Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, Flamethrower & Focus Blast
Hydreigon is one of my most favored Pokemon. Not only does it work effectively with Mienshao and Reuniclus, but it also looks awesome when shiny! Hydreigon is usually used as a revenge killer. Now, I know that most revenge killing Hydreigon carry Choice Scarf, but being restrained to using one attack can cripple alot of Hydreigon's uses. Hydreigon serves as a mid-game sweeper, as well as a lure for various OU Fighting types; such as Lucario, Terrakion, Virizion, Infernape, Toxicroak, Mienshao & Conkeldurr. It also lures in Scizor. All can be walled by Reuniclus, barr Scizor, Mienshao and Infernape, who could easily come in and U-turn out. Hydreigon also has good synergy with Jellicent, who completely walls foes not easily handled by Reuniclus & covers 2/3 of Hydreigon's weaknesses. Draco Meteor is for Power and Stab, plus it packs a punch foe Defense varient Pokemon. Dark Pulse is very useful in ridding Hydreigon of Steel types that try and wall it. It also deals with Ghost and Psychic types quite well. Flamethorwer deals with Bug types, like Scizor, who widely threaten the other team members. Focus blast, too, deals with Steel types, like Heatran, and opposing Dark types. It also helps in handling Rock type foes, as well.
Ferrothorn@ Rock Helmet; IronBarb
Impish: 252 Defense & Sp.Defense/4 Hp
Moves: Seed Bomb, Iron Head, SwordsDance & Thunder wave
Hahaha! Fear Ferrothorn, as it is widely unpredictable and very hard to deal with physically. As I tried out many Ferrothorn sets, this one seemed to stand out to me. I made this set out of sheer curiousity and, too my suprise , it was successful in dealing with the teams many threats. I went with the following EVs because is helps deal with phsyical threats beyond the ability of Reuniclus. Ferrothorn also has a good synergy going on with Jellicent. Seed Bomb is for the power and helps Ferrothorn get rid of pesky Ground types that try and avoid Thunder wave. Thunder wave helps Ferrothorn, while not haveing to worry about Speed. It also helps the rest of the team by slowwing down the opposing Pokemon enough to where the others could easily come in and deal with the threat. While spreading paralysis, Ferrothorn can set up a Swords Dance and boost it's power to almost destructive levels. Iron Head was a good chooice for Ferrothorn as the flinch has saved it many times and deals heavy damage to Pokemon that don't resist it; especially after a Swords Dance.
Jellicent@ Leftovers; Water Absorb
Calm: 252 Hp & Sp.Defense/4 Defense
Moves: Scald, Recover, Taunt & Will-o-wisp/Toxic
Jellicent plays somewhat of a diverse role on my team. When paired with Ferrothorn, it can outpace the foe, should Ferrothorn have the opportunity to set up Thunder wave without difficulty. Jellicent is also the first choice switch out when a Fire type attack threatens Ferrothorn's condition. Jellicent also serves as a special wall to Ice type attacks that threaten to KO Hydreigon. Jellicent, using Scald, also doesn't really need to be concerned with being frozen. Jellicent also plays the role of spreading the burn status like the plague to the opposing team; whether it be through a direct Will-o-wisp or Scald. Taunt is there for obvious reasons; noone likes Spikes or Toxic Spikes. This team doesn't really care to take SR damage. Toxic was an option over Will-o-wisp to cripple the bulky water, Vaporeon; who rivals Jellicent in being a team supporter.
Jolteon@ ChoiceSpec; Volt Absorb
Timid: 252 Sp.Attack & Speed/ 4 Hp
Moves: Thunderbolt, Shadowball, HP(Ice) & Volt Switch
Jolteon, how could you not be any more perfect for the team. After all, you absorb Electric type attacks, notibly opposing Thunder waves, that could cripple your team mates. Your speed is just what the team looks for in a "hit and run sweeper" and you pack HP(Ice) for Dragons like Salamence and Dragonite. Jolteon can handle itself in battle very well thanks to Hp(Ice), hitting Dragons that threaten the team hard and with a vengence. That's right, Jolteon also acts as a powerful revenge killer to Flying types, Dragons, and as a "lightning rod" to electric attacks that threaten Jellicent's condition as well as the other team members. It also checks many Rain teams in the process, hitting unprepaired Rain teams hard, with assistance from Ferrothorn and Jellicent.
