CAP Co-Leader
It's finally time for CAP 36! There is one very important change for this process: CAP 36 will operate off of a framework. Read this post to understand how this project will differ from typical CAP Projects.

--

This is the thread for people to announce their desire to become the Topic Leader (TL) for this creation project. Do not suggest other users. If someone wants to become the TL, they will post on their own, and if they don't have a strong urge to be it then they shouldn't be signing up anyway. The CAP project requires the utmost dedication and a substantial amount of free time, especially to lead, meaning that only those who have carefully considered the magnitude of their application will apply at all. If you are not prepared to fulfill all of the responsibilities to the very end, then do not throw your hat into the ring.

Before applying, it is important to read and understand the following posts:
Topic Leadership
CAP 5 - Policy Review Summary
Either-Or Leadership Applications

The Topic Leadership Team is made up of the following five positions to lead the creation of this new Pokemon (for CAP 36 specifically, the framework could reduce the number of Section Leaders). This thread is only for Topic Leader applications. Section Leader applications will be accepted in a later thread.
  • Topic Leader: In the public's eyes, this is the leader of the project. Overall, the goal of the TL is "quality control", not "project control". The responsibilities of the TL include running Concept Assessment, Threats Discussion, and finalizing the slates of Section Leaders. For CAP 36 specifically, the TL will also slate frameworks.
  • Section Leaders: The Section Leaders will be leading the four major competitive aspects of creating a Pokemon. They will make slates for their respective threads and provide meaningful discussion points to their specific area. Note that TLT members are allowed to make submissions during stages of the CAP process that they are not actively leading. We are looking to fill the following four positions (for CAP 36 specifically, the framework could reduce the number of Section Leaders):
    • Typing Leader
    • Ability Leader
    • Stats Leader
    • Movepool Leader
When making your application, please indicate which position(s) you are applying for. You must identify that you're applying for TL. Topic leaders should have the following qualifications:
  • Deep knowledge of the game of Pokemon
  • Familiarity with competitive Pokemon concepts, strategy and philosophy, as practiced within Smogon
  • Willing to voice opinions and lead others
  • Open-minded to new ideas
  • Creative, "outside-of-the-box" thinker
  • Good writing skills
  • Level-headed when resolving disputes
  • Liked and respected by the CAP community
Once this CAP starts, the Topic Leader (and Section Leaders) will be the most important, most visible members of the CAP community, and they are expected to be a strong guiding force throughout the creation process. If you are selected for any of these positions, you will have a great deal of power to influence the project. But you also have a responsibility to stay on top of things. You will have forum moderators to help you, but you need to be regularly active on the project until it is complete. All potential candidates should look through both the Topic Leadership Guide and the CAP Process Archive, to get an idea of what will be expected of you, if you are selected to be the Topic Leader.

This thread is strictly for candidacy posts and posts supporting those candidates. Please stay on topic. Below are the guidelines for posting in this thread:
  • Candidates will benefit from highlighting their active involvement throughout the duration of a recent CAP project. Involvement in multiple CAP projects is strongly preferred.
  • Do not suggest other people. If you want you encourage someone else to run, then send them a PM or talk to them on the PS! CAP chatroom or the CAP Discord channel.
  • If you are new to the CAP project, do not sign up in this thread. Instead, spend a project or two lurking, learning, and participating first.
  • Include a summary of your involvement in the CAP project.
  • Make a pitch for why you should be selected. If you can't present and defend yourself, then you can't expect to lead a project whose primary function is discussion and debate. Convince us that you are a good choice.
  • Even if you don't think you are better qualified than certain other candidates, you still should consider posting your application. Candidates not selected as TL this project will be on the watchlist for next time around. Don't post your name if you don't intend to be active in the project, even if you are not selected, since people will be scrutinizing your involvement more closely.
  • Feel free to post support for any candidates already named.
  • Do not post disparaging remarks about any candidates.
If these rules are not followed, the offending user will be subject to moderation.

This thread will be open for 72 hours unless we're notified that we need to provide more time.

Hello everyone! I'm back to throw my hat in the ring once more for TL this time around.

I've got an extensive history with the process that I think fits the role of TL for a framework CAP quite well. To start, I've been participating in CAP since late in ORAS, starting with Kerfluffle's process. I'm a two-time former TL, leading Equilibra in SM and Saharaja in SS, and I've been on four other projects as a TLT member- Jumbao's typing leader, and moves leader for Chromera, Chuggalong and Shox. Being a part of the last two processes has been a hugely important experience for me, and I would love to keep that going for a third.

Outside of the process directly, I have played CAP as a format for multiple gens and had success that shows my understanding of the metagame and how CAPs interact with it. I was a qualifier for CAP Circuit Champs for 2024 and finished in the top eight, after strong runs in CAP Ladder Tour and Shox's playtest. I've been a long time manager in CAP team tours with several wins under my belt, and though the White Shox unfortunately fell short in this most recent CAPCL, I think being part of that team and managing has been a huge help to me individually and in a leadership role.

I'm confident that I would be a good fit for topic leader of a framework process, and I'm excited to see how everything unfolds. If elected, I hope to replicate the success of the other projects I've been a part of and have a damn good time going through it with everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm Samirsin★!!
Excited to apply for the Topic Leader (TL) position for CAP 36. Over the past several projects, I have been a dedicated presence in the CAP community, and I believe this is the right time for me to step up and help guide the process in a leadership role.

My Involvement in CAP:
I...
★ am consistently active in the CAP Showdown room, engaging in discussions and development of community.
★ post usage statistics of the CAP ladder, helping assess their viability and impact in the metagame.
★ have hosted Tour Nights since its introduction, which encourages competitive play and foster community engagement.
★ have closely observed and learned from past Topic Leaders and TLT members, gaining insight into what makes an effective leader in the CAP process.
★ do a lot of flavor stuff! Submitting shiny sprites, Pokédex entries, helping with feedback, updating the enCAPlopedia, AFD sprites...
★ really love the CAP project

I bring a balance of open-mindedness and enthusiasm that I believe is crucial for a strong CAP process. This is my first time applying for TL, and while it’s a big step, I am confident in my ability to lead with clarity, adaptability, and a deep understanding of competitive Pokémon.

With CAP 36 following a framework, we are operating in a structured yet creative space, which excites me. I am eager to guide discussions with an open but disciplined approach, ensuring that every stage of the project remains thoughtful, engaging, and true to CAP’s mission.

I look forward to working with the community, fostering productive debate, and making CAP 36 an exciting and successful project!

Throwing in support for my buddy SHSP.

I believe his wealth of TLT experience on previous projects will be particularly valuable this time around, given the weird quirks and extra complexity a framework can - and probably will provide. He has shown time and again his ability to keep level-headed when things get hectic, and his calm and collected yet decisive leadership style might benefit us greatly when navigating through the chaos of a framework project. While the guy has been around for ages at this point, his recent track record in both individual and team tournaments show that he is still ahead of the game, and teaming with him during various editions of CAPPL and CAPCL has always been a pleasant experience where he shows deep metagame knowledge as well as the ability to manage efficiently within a team setting.

I would like to mention that I do not mean to actively disparage newcomers from signing up, however in my opinion this particular process might be a very rough entry point into CAP project leadership.

Also I do love me a good Ground type spinner with legendary signature move.

Hi everyone, I'm Darek and I'm gonna run for TL for CAP36.

Although I have not been active in CAP for the past year or so, the possibilities offered by a framework concept has reinvigorated my interest in the project. During my time with CAP, I have been actively involved in both the CAP project and the CAP tours. On the process side, I've participated in every process from Miasmaw to Cresceidon, and even was Ability Leader for Saharaja's process. During my time as Ability Leader, I really enjoyed the process of opening up discussion as wide as possible and pushing users to think deeply about their suggested abilities. We ended up with a really wild slate with abilities like Poison Heal and Speed Boost, and I hope to do my best to push everyone's creativity in a similar fashion as TL. At the same time, I've gotten numerous tour results during my time with CAP, notably serving as assistant manager for the CAPCL-winning Brazy Breezis and qualifying for the 2023 Circuit Champs., making a name for myself as CAP's resident Sun enjoyer. Although I have not kept up with the meta as of recently, my previous experience with the tier should make learning the current meta not too difficult.

Now to be honest, the main reason that I lost interest in CAP over the past year is because I've found that CAP's recent concepts have been pretty lackluster. This isn't anyone's fault in particular, but moreso a byproduct of concepts being inherently difficult to write well and forecast how a process will turn out from it. As such, especially with frameworks involved, it's really important to me that we get a slate full of concepts that are interesting, nuanced, and creative. As TL I would do my best to provide everyone with the resources to write the best concepts they can so that we can get another crazy slate like we did when I was Ability Leader for Saharaja.

Thanks for reading, and let's make a great Pokemon!
