Carraturne's Devastation

Introduction
Hi RisinDevil here again with my third RMT and this time in the NU teir. After seeing the latest SMOG and the underrated sets in NU I really wanted to try the Carracosta and Cacturne sets as my main offensive core but what Pokemon would I use to fill the remaining four slots? Well let me tell you :D

Team Building

Well the two Pokemon I wanted to build this team around so obviously they are the first picked. We have a Liechi Shell Smash Carracosta and a SubSD Cacturne and boy do these two tend to pack a punch most of the time!

So now I needed some Rocks to throw up to help me net those KOs and a Spinner to protect Carracosta's Sturdy. So I first went for Sandslash but then I looked and saw he was RU and remembered Torkoal is a SR setting spinner and added him on here. Plus it gives me a nice FWG core.

I wanted a nice spiker to help secure OHKOs and Garbador from what I have seen is just that a fast spiker. I can reliably get up atleast 2 layers of Spikes most of the time. Plus he has Clear Smog to help with me some set up threats.

How you look here and see alot of Physical stuff. I need a Special Attacker, a scarfer, a spin blocker and then my mind went CLICK Haunter. He is a Ghost to block those spins (though he is frail so I do have to be careful because predictions do happen lol), He has a nice Sp Atk and a Scarf helps him have wonderful speed for Revenge Killing.

I figured I could use a nice Fighting type pokemon and maybe another defensive pivot. I thought of Eviolite Gurdurr as that choice. Eviolite lets him take some hits, he can Drain health thru his fists like a boss, and he has Knock Off to remove items from my opponents that I don't want them to have. Plus he always draws in Weezing where I Knock Off it's Leftovers and either A) switch to Gurdurr and set up Spikes and B) get Will'd and Ice Punch it to the ground.

From a suggestion from FLCL to help me deal with Rotom-S, Bulky Poisons, and Signal Beam Musharna I switched Torkoal out as my Steath Rocker for a SR Golurk since I didn't NEED Rapid Spin and thus it gives me a Spin Blocker and Rocker in one I could change up Haunter. With Haunter not really needed FLCL also suggested that I use Scarf Gardevoir to help deal with Weezing and to revenge on weather sweepers.

The Team
Now without further ado I shall introduce you to the team :) Changes in Bold

Terrorpene (Carracosta) @
Bag_Liechi_Berry_Sprite.png
Liechi Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet

Here is Part 1 of my 2 Pokemon Offensive Core who apparently needs no name ... CARRACOSTA! After I get my Hazards up I try to get this in as safely as possible, with Sturdy intact hopefully, and try to set up a Shell Smash as they bring me down to my Liechi Berry. Then I proceed to Waterfall EVERYTHING unless it resists it then I Stone Edge. Since I know Carracosta even after a Shell Smash isn't the fastest in the bunch I Aqua Jet anything I think is faster then me or is going to use priority on me.

cacturne_by_bonexylophone-d4uivfa.png

Kenzamaka (Cacturne) (F) @
Bag_Dark_Gem_Sprite.png
Dark Gem
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Seed Bomb

And time for Part 2 of 2 of my Offensive Core ... CACTURNE! I don't really have a hard time bringing this in actually and this more often than not breaks down thicker mons than it does Sweeping. Either I bring it in fresh after a Pokemon gets KO'd or when I think a water move is coming my way. Then Proceed to set up a Sub and decide from there. Sometimes if think they will break the sub then status I just go right for the Dark Gem boosted Sucker Punch instead of the SD. Both Cacturne and Carracosta both do just fine with Dual STAB for coverage because it isn't horrible.

Oreo (Garbodor) @
Bag_Black_Sludge_Sprite.png
Black Sludge
Trait: Aftermath
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Clear Smog
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch

This right here is my Spiker and 90% of the time that is all he usually does. But is he useful as a fighting resist when I don't want to throw Haunter in a chance of being predicted on. Clear Smog to stop those Set Up sweepers without sub (Damn you Braviary!) Gunk Shot for STAB, and Drain Punch for Steels and recovery is nice :)

Gardevoir_by_aocom.jpg

Aria (Gardevoir) @
Bag_Choice_Scarf_Sprite.png
Choice Scarf
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Trick

For my new Scarfer/Revenge Killer to replace Haunter I bring you, well thanks to FLCL, Gardevoir! Since now I have a way to handle weather sweepers and a real way to deal with Weezing besides essentially sacking Gurdurr. Trick is to cripple tanks, Psychic for STAB, Shadow Ball to hit Ghosts and other Physics, and Focus Blast for those pesky Steel and Dark types. She is working wonders and I like tracing things that help me in the long run :P

Gholiath (Golurk) @
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png
Leftovers
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Shadow Punch
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock

Golurk is my new Stealth Rocker under the suggestion of FLCL to replace Torkoal and it helps me check Rotom-S, Poison Types (except Weezing) and Musharna. Earthquake and Shadow Punch are for STAB and Ice Punch helps me out against flying types and Ground/Grass types. And the reason he replaced Torkoal I have the Rocks to spew on the ground. Iron Fist helps make my Shadow Punch and Ice Punch more deadly :3 now if only there was like an earth punch lol

pokepalace__brunhilda_rushiin_by_mariannefosho-d5ja3aq.png

Gurdurr @
Bag_Eviolite_Sprite.png
Eviolite
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Mach Punch

Gurdurr here is my fighting type to take some hits and my main poke to deal with Rock and Steel Types. Eviolite lets him get popped a couple of times and Punch things with a sould draining Drain Punch, Knock Off to knock off wall's Leftovers, Ice Punch for Flying switch ins and anything that resists/immune to fighting, Mach Punch for Priority because sometimes Gurdurr needs one last punch before droping down. Guts lets him absorb some status and increase his offensive prowess

from what i see you have troubles with rotom-s, bulky poison-types, and signal beam musharna. rotom-s can basically volt switch around for free and threaten half your team with super effective attacks. your only electric-type resist is cacturne which is ohko'ed by air slash. bulky poison-types wall cacturne, garbodor, and gurdurr. opposing garbodor can find a lot of opportunities to set up spikes on your team. signal beam musharna ohko's the members of your team that have the best chance of hurt it (haunter and cacturne) with the correct move, meaning it will have a field day if the opponent predicts correctly.

to deal with those problems, you can try running stealth rock golurk over torkoal. rapid spin is not crucial for you team since the only pokemon that benefits from it is carracosta, which does not really need sturdy to be preserved to sweep. golurk, on the other hand, can destroy poison-types not named weezing, hit musharna hard with shadow punch, and makes rotom-s think twice about spamming volt switch.

with golurk now serving as your spin-blocker, scarf gardevoir would work a lot better than haunter on this team since it can revenge weather sweepers thanks to trace, which are huge threats to any offensive team. it can also hit weezing, which still gives your team troubles since golurk cannot hit it with earthquake.

summary of changes:
