So dudes, after taking a few months break from Pokemon all together, i've come back a little rusty. Hovering around these RMT threads again for a while to see if the metagame has changed at all .. it seems it hasnt and weather is still very strong.
SO. I've always been against weather, i mean i REALLY hated it. But I've decided to make a weather team purely because I've never used one! So, after much deliberation, i went with rain for the following reasons.
Reason 1 - I'm ginger so i hate the sun. So fuck you ninetails.
Reason 2 - I hate the beach as it reminds me of sun. Sand is on the beach, so goodbye sandstorm.
Reason 3 - Rain means ladies get wet tshirts and man i love boobs. :)
So, onto the team!
Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 64 SAtk / 92 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Perish Song
Lead politoed for the obvious reason of setting up the rain. I cant remember who gave me this set for politoed but it really is fantastic. The speed Ev's let me outspeed jellicent and get a toxic off before i get taunted. The special attack Ev's purely because i would like a little more sting in his attacks and finally, i dumped the rest in HP and defense because bulky politoed is the business.
Moveset is very obvious so i shall not explain.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 188 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Ice Punch
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Iron Head
Standard paraflinch rachi. Flame me if you wish, its the business. Ice punch is for the dragons and ground types. I realised that to make my teams survivability a little better, i needed wish support. People might think its stange that i dont run protect to go with wish, but to be perfectly honest, i prefer ice punch. The EV investment makes rachi my special wall, most obviously there to wall the dragons that run rampant.
Pelipper (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Def / 64 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hurricane
- Hydro Pump
- Roost
- Toxic
My pride and joy! If pokemon were real, i would definatley get myself a wingull and train it to evolve into a pelliper. Anyways, my physical wall :) Max defence meaning i can wall the fighting types, unless a scrafty has thunderpunch then i'm gutted like, but still. GREAT. I've put 64 special attack EVs in because purely toxic stalling is boring, and can be risky. With these Ev's it lets me start denting most pokes.
Claydol @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Earth Power
My spinner, obviously. I dont know what to say about this guy. Really dont! So ermm .. YEAH
Virizion @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 112 HP / 80 Def / 252 SAtk / 36 SDef / 28 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Before this pokemon, i was using a bulky dragonite. But the lack of set up moves was annoying me. I tried virizion because in the rain, he takes 50% less fire damage. with the sp.defence investment he takes them hits even better. with a calm mind, he takes barely anything which is great as i see way too many heatrans. Secondly, people never expect me to be running the special variety so the suprise factors there. He also counters other rain teams which is fab!
Scrafty (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Drain Punch
- ThunderPunch
The Star of my team, Standard DD Scrafty but i run SubDD over DD 3 attacks. Reasoning? I can normally get a sub off to block a toxic. Dragon dance as they take out my sub. Get toxiced, lum berry clears it. DD then sweep. Simple as that. I run thunderpunch over crunch just to hit scarm really, also helps against bulky waters.
