[OVERVIEW]
Celesteela is a formidable offensive threat due to its favorable matchups against metagame threats such as Rillaboom and Landorus, setting up in front of them and quickly snowballing through weakened teams with Beast Boost and Meteor Beam boosts. Partnering it with solid redirection and Fake Out support helps it set up without being overwhelmed. Celesteela works best on offensive team structures that can provide this support, with solid Tailwind support from Pokemon like Naganadel and Mew letting it outspeed threats such as Naganadel and Zeraora. However, Celesteela really requires good speed control to function to its fullest, as it can be easily revenge killed by the myriad of faster threats in the tier such as Heatran and Zeraora, although the former needs prior chip damage and the latter needs to be healthy. Furthermore, if it lacks Fake Out or redirection support, it can be stopped easily before it sets up due to its low initial damage output.
[SET]
name: Meteor Beam
move 1: Meteor Beam
move 2: Air Slash
move 3: Flash Cannon
move 4: Protect
item: Power Herb
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
* Meteor Beam with Power Herb gives Celesteela a one-time way to nail would-be checks such as Incineroar, Zapdos, and Volcanion, as well as providing a Special Attack boost, which lets it snowball more easily with Beast Boost.
* Air Slash is Celesteela's main STAB move, and it allows it to effectively check the likes of Rillaboom, Urshifu-R, and Amoonguss.
* Flash Cannon nails Pokemon that can switch into Air Slash such as Diancie and Kyurem-B.
* Protect provides a turn of safety for Celesteela, allowing another teammate to attack or set up Tailwind or Trick Room for it. Protect also lets it stall out opposing Tailwind and Trick Room turns.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Wide Guard is a solid option that allows Celesteela to perform a more supportive role
but sacrifices some sweeping efficiency. Flamethrower can also be run to threaten Metagross and opposing Celesteela immediately, although Air Slash and Flash Cannon are generally superior. A bulkier spread with 252 HP EVs is an option for slower teams that use Trick Room alongside it; however, it loses the ability to hit Incineroar and Volcanion before they attack outside of Trick Room. A defensive set with Leech Seed can be used as well, making Celesteela a solid defensive check to the likes of Rillaboom and Metagross, and while it is less viable, it still has decent matchups across the board.
