I callanged myself to make an OU team that was only half OU, and so far, I've gotten promising results from my shoddy tests, I think I would like to put it befor the good people of this forum before I reach concencus though. I also tried to go for pokemon that I liked.
Here is my new team:
Lucario:
Inner Focus
Lonely@Focus Sash
Atk: 252, Spd: 254
Close Combat
Crunch
Counter
Extremespeed
Lucario is one that I like reasonably enough. He's an epic brawl player, that's for sure, yet I feel people use him too often. Nevertheless, I'm using him, but as a lead unlike a lot of other people. As a lead this guy fares pretty well. He is a match for almost every lead I find and usualy comes out on top, even against the VERY overused 'pert leads. Mostly this is because I don't realy care about stealth rock. I usualy just CC everything in my way, crunch if there's a ghost and Extremespeed/Counter anything faster than me. As a lead, I like it.
Ambipom:
Technitian
Jolly@Life Orb
Atk: 252, Spd: 252
Fake Out
Double Hit
Pursuit
Low Kick
I realy don't understand why people don't use this guy more often, he's awesome! On this team he fills in the role of physical sweeper and does it fairly well. Fake Out obviously does tons of damage to anything not ghost or steel type, and Low Kick/Pursuit usualy takes care of everything else. I chose Double Hit over Return because I like to have the most power I can and I enjoy breaking through those breloom's subs. It is quite frail though, and usualy is taken down before taken back. That's why I have another pseudo-physical sweeper on my team. All in all, I realy like this guy.
Gardevoir:
Trace
Modest@Leftovers
HP: 252, Spe: 34, SpA: 48, SpD: 176
Psychic
Hypnosis
Will-o-Wisp
Thunderbolt
I had to replace my Shaymin with this when I found out it didn't have HP fire. :( Overall, I find the ralts evolutions to be wonderfully charismatic and very useful. Though not quite as good as Gallade, Gardevoir offers a few things Gallade would not be able to. Namely, a shaky Scizor counter and a support. As long as I catch a favorable switch, I find her to be quite effective at taking down Scizors and Heatrans with T-bolt. For a lot of other physical threats, Will-o-Wisp is there to fend them off. Hypnosis is always a good thing to have at hand if a bit innacurate, and Psychic is just a good STAB move that can take out Breloom and Gengar as long as the odds are with her. The main thing I lost with Shaymin was a very effective Scizor counter and an aromatherapist, but Gardevoir has been doing very well since.
Vaporeon:
Water Absorb
Bold@Leftovers
HP: 188, Def: 252, Spd: 68
Surf
Ice Beam
Wish
Protect
Yes, I'll admit it. I'm an Eevee-lutions fan. So sue me. Though not my favorite Eevee-lution (Leafeon FTW!!!), I realy needed a physical wall for my team and Gardevoir just wasn't going to cut it. So I thought, who better than Vaporeon? It's been amazing on my team. I don't rely too much on it, but just enough to make it stand out. It is my mmain Scizor counter, taking it out with relative ease. It can easily switch in on a bullet punch or even a brick break, KO it with however many surfs are necessary, and wish off the damage afterwards. Protect is a move I use often, not jjust for recovery, but for scouting. Many a time have I encountered an enigmatic Salamence with my old team thinking it was physical, only to have my poor Gliscor taken out with a hydro pump. Well, no more with protect! Using it I can find out what kind of pokemon it is, and send in an appropriate counter. I love this thing!
Nidoking:
Poison Point
Naughty@Life Orb
Atk: 252, Spd: 88, SpA: 168
Fire Blast
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Megahorn
Nidoking is one of mmy favorite pokemon, but I never thought he would be practical to use on a team. Boy was I wrong! This mixed sweeper is a very nice touch to my team for a few reasons. First, it is indeed a mixed sweeper and fills in half of the roll for the special side of my team, and reinforces my physical offence. Second, I love switching out of vaporeon from electric attacks to wall them with the king. He can easily switch in to a cocky Jolteon and, if it doesn't switch out, EQ it to death, even if it uses HP ice. I also find it very useful for taking out those pesky 4x ice weak pokemon, namely Gliscor. It has a surprising amount of resilience that always seems to get the job done. It's also a gimmicky third line of defence against Scizor, providing it hasn't SD'd. The third reason is for the surprise factor. I have met nobody who expects to see a Nidoking on an OU tier team and often I see they don't know what to do about it. The downside is that all of this put together sort of makes it a one-trick pony...
Togekiss
Calm@Leftovers
HP: 252, SpD: 200, Spd: 58
Aura Sphere
Air Slash
Thunder Wave
Roost
Let the record show: I friggin' LOVE Togekiss! The thing can do so much, it can wall, it can sweep it can support and in can even stall! Albeit, not all in one moveset, but you get my point. First off, I realy hate the people who think you can only use Togekiss for para-flinch. Unfortunately, I could not get the chance to prove them wrong because the para-flinch set just fit so well on my team. The EV spread is one I came up with on my own, sacrificing a little special ddefense for some speed. Although this weakens it as my special wall, it gives it that edge against pokemon who would otherwise be faster than it. Plus it gives a great surprise when the opponent sees that you are faster than him. The moveset is rather self explanitory, Air Slash to flinch and Aura Sphere for extra coverage. In the end, Togekiss is probably a staple for how I play the game.
And that's the team! Tell me how flawed it is!
