Choice Specs Chandelure makes for a fearsome wallbreaker on Fire-type teams due to its high Special Attack stat and powerful STAB combination. Energy Ball is a great coverage move that allows Chandelure to defeat would-be Water-type switch-ins, further solidifying its role as a wallbreaker. Trick allows Chandelure to cripple walls such as Torkoal, Corviknight, and Toxapex. A Timid nature with maximum investment in Special Attack allows Chandelure to OHKO Seismitoad and Gastrodon.
Rotom-H makes for a good partner, as it can take on the Water-types Energy Ball cannot hit, such as Pelipper, Gyarados, and Toxapex. In return, Chandelure can take on Gastrodon and Seismitoad for Rotom-H. Hazard removal from the likes of Cinderace and Torkoal are appreciated by Chandelure so that it can switch-in more safely. The former is able to bring Chandelure in safely with U-turn, while the latter is able to set up sun. Cinderace, along with Charizard, helps Chandelure against the Dark-type matchup thanks to their Fighting-type coverage options. Charizard helps against Dragon-types such as Dragapult and Hydreigon thanks to its access to Dragon Pulse. Salazzle makes for a good teammate, as it is able to spread status on foes, allowing for Chandelure to function more efficiently. Darmanitan and Arcanine can revenge kill weakened threats, which is appreciated by Chandelure.
