Change the way thread pages can be selected

Currently, you have the option to go to one of the first three pages of a thread or the last page. I think it would be a lot more useful if the options were the first page and then the last three pages. I often find myself clicking the last page button and then moving back a page to catch up with unread posts, and if this was changed I could go directly to the second-to-last page.

I think 1 2 n-2 n-1 n would be better so you can advance single pages if you need to, but I like the idea...

It really isn't a good idea to just have the first then the last three pages, because to get to the second page of a thread you would literally have to go to the last page and work backwards...

As for CIM's idea, it might work, but it makes things a lot easier to move forward two when trying to find something, because most people go through a thread from the beginning (it's just how most people's brains work).

I personally have almost never found myself looking for the second to last page of a thread, but why not just add another page option? As in, just make it so you can pick the first three and last three pages of any thread. Unless there is a limit to the number of pages that can be displayed or something?

Or go to the first page and go one forward?

UncleSam, I was referring to a situation where you've already read a thread, but overnight or something it got another page. Instead of clicking on "last page" then "previous" just click on "x-1". Just one of those minor convenience things (maybe not so minor for people on mobile browsers or other slower connections).

RW, did you know that if you simply click on the thread title (when it is bolded) that it will bring you to the last message that you read?

EDIT: Oh drat, it only seems to do that when you click it from the forum listing. Anyhow, I looked into doing what you asked through the admin control panel and it didn't seem to be possible. You are now at the mercy of a programmer, my god help you.
