[OVERVIEW]

Chansey has a solid, albeit limited, niche in DOU as one of the best stops to the tier's powerful special attackers like Naganadel, Heatran, and Landorus thanks to its absurdly high HP and decent Special Defense. Chansey can apply offensive pressure with Seismic Toss and Toxic while also acting as a late-game wincon if all opposing physical attackers are taken care of. Chansey's Defense does leave a lot to be desired even with Eviolite, however, leaving it extremely vulnerable to physical attackers like Urshifu-R and Incineroar. The former of whom threatens to OHKO Chansey, while the latter can remove its Eviolite with Knock Off. Chansey is being very passive due to its low initial damage, allowing the special attackers it's supposed to check to attack Chansey's teammates without much fear of Chansey itself. Incineroar is a great partner for Chansey, as its Intimidate helps patch up Chansey's Defense. Landorus is an offensive partner that appreciates Chansey switching in on Naganadel and Dragapult, which normally threaten to OHKO it. while also beating Urshifu-R.

move 3: Stealth Rock
move 4: Soft Boiled
item: Eviolite
ability: Natural Cure / Healer
nature: Bold
evs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Seismic Toss deals static damage to most of the tier, allowing Chansey to wear down Pokemon like Naganadel and Landorus.

* Toxic is helpful for wearing down bulkier Pokemon and setup sweepers like Dragon Dance Kyurem-B and Porygon2.

* Stealth Rock punishes Pokemon like Rillaboom and Incineroar for switching into Chansey, causing them to get worn down more quickly.

* Soft-Boiled allows Chansey to make use of its great bulk from Eviolite and outlast most Pokemon when Toxic is in play, allowing it to potentially win games on its own in some situations.

* Natural Cure prevents status from sticking to Chansey given it can switch out, which makes it significantly harder to wear down. Healer cannot remove status from Chansey but can remove status from its teammates if Chansey is on the field, which is particularly helpful for setup sweepers like Cosmic Power Mew that operate at a slower pace.

* Maximum Speed investment allows Chansey to outrun several Pokemon such as Incineroar and Volcanion, letting it either hit them with Toxic or heal before they can act.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Chansey has a few options over Toxic or Stealth Rock depending on the rest of the team. Thunder Wave can debilitate offensive Pokemon that rely on their Speed like Urshifu-R and Naganadel, while Heal Pulse can keep Chansey's allies healthy. Ally Switch can allow Chansey to take hits directed at its allies, which can generate free turns for them, and vice versa. However, losing out on Toxic or Stealth Rock makes Chansey even more passive.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Mention Chansey's potential as a late-game win condition at the end of talking about Toxic.
  • Landorus is not the best way to go for checking Urshifu, if you mention Incineroar that recommendation makes more sense though.
  • For Urshifu checks, Toxapex is on the main team Chansey's been used on (importantly checking that and Incineroar), so I'd say it's worth a mention despite being unranked in a similar vein to Sand. Speaking of Pokemon on that team, Dragapult is another good Urshifu check, and Rillaboom is one as well, while also providing terrain control for healing and ensuring Toxic functions.
[SET]
  • Slash Healer, that's also a useful ability, especially alongside stuff which hates Toxic.
[SET COMMENTS]
  • "chipping down Pokemon even while Chansey isn't on the field" is a weird point to mention, I'd instead somehow say it provides passive damage which lets Chansey stall stuff out with Soft Boiled.
  • Mention the EV spread since running Speed wouldn't be people's first thought, including some stuff it outspeeds.
[OTHER OPTIONS]
  • Replace "which decreases Chansey's ability to wear down opposing Pokemon" with them making Chansey even more passive.

[OVERVIEW]

This cleric Pokemon Chansey has a solid, albeit limited, niche in DOU as one of the best stops to the tier's powerful special attackers like Naganadel, Heatran, and Landorus as thanks to its absurdly high HP when combined with its and decent Special Defense make it extremely for the aforementioned special attackers to break through it. Conciseness Chansey also has the means to wear down these Pokemon. Chansey can apply offensive pressure with Seismic Toss and Toxic, with the former being a reliable means of dealing damage to the majority of the tier, while Toxic is better for wearing down bulkier Pokemon like Porygon2 and Kyurem-B while also allowing Chansey to act as a win condition late game while also acting as a late game win condition if all opposing physical attackers are taken care of. You are explaining the full use of Toxic and Seismic Toss which is better suited for set details. Chansey's Defense does leave a lot to be desired even with Eviolite, however, leaving it extremely vulnrable vulnerable to physical attackers like Urshifu-R and Incineroar, the former of whom threatens to OHKO Chansey, while the latter can remove its Eviolite with Knock Off, making it significantly easier to break through. Conciseness Chansey also has the issue of being very passive due to its low initial damage, allowing the special attackers it's supposed to check to attack Chansey's teammates without much fear of Chansey itself. Incineroar is a great partner for Chansey, as its Intimidate helps patch up its Defense while Incineroar also helps bring in Chansey safely with Parting Shot Incineroar helps every Pokemon this way; it does not seem specifically relevent to Chansey. Toxapex, despite being a niche choice, matches Chansey's slow pace and importantly checks Urshifu-R and other physical attackers. Landorus acts as an offensive partner that appreciates Chansey switching in on Naganadel and Dragapult, who normally threaten to OHKO it while also beating Urshifu-R for Chansey in return. Toxapex, while niche, matches the slower pace Chansey operates at while checking most physical attackers.

[SET COMMENTS]

* Seismic Toss deals static consistent damage to most of the tier, allowing Chansey to wear down Pokemon like Naganadel and Landorus.

* Toxic is helpful for wearing down bulkier Pokemon or Pokemon with recovery moves like Kyurem-B and Porygon2, as well as dealing passive damage which allows Chansey to outlast Pokemon with Soft Boiled. Mention set-up Pokemon (Dragon Dance Kyurem-B) and combined the two current mentions into just "bulkier Pokemon". Move the late game win condition to the Soft Boiled line (see below).

* Stealth Rock punishes Pokemon like Rillaboom and Incineraor for switching into Chansey, causing them to get worn down even quicker.

* Soft Boiled allows Chansey to instantly restore half of its HP which makes it significantly harder to break when combined with Eviolite increasing Chansey's defensive stats and Natural Cure removing status conditions from it. Here I would mention Chansey being able to outlast other Pokemon and win late game because of Soft Boiled and not just "instantly restore half of its HP" because everyone knows that. Also make a new line for Nature Cure and Healer and explain why you would pick one over the other.

* Max Speed allows Chansey to outrun several Pokemon such as Incineroar and Volcanion, allowing it to either Toxic them or heal before they can act.

Thunder Wave can be used to cripple offensive Pokemon who rely on their speed like Urshifu-R and Naganadel, while Heal Pulse can keep Chansey's allies healthy. However, both moves come at the cost of losing out on Toxic or Stealth Rock, which makes Chansey even more passive.

Add Ally Switch. Also, I'd argue Thunder Wave / Heal Pulse / Ally Switch can also be at least as good if not better than Stealth Rock on some teams so I'd write the section as something like "Chansey as a few options over Stealth Rock depending on the rest of the team. Thunder Wave...".

Chansey has a few options over Toxic or (to match final sentence; you could also change both this and the final "Toxic or Stealth Rock" to something different ofc) Stealth Rock depending on the rest of the team. Thunder Wave can be used to cripple offensive Pokemon who rely on their speed debilitate offensive Pokemon that rely on their Speed like Urshifu-R and Naganadel, while Heal Pulse can keep Chansey's allies healthy. Ally Switch can allow Chansey to take hits directed at its allies, which can generate free turns for them, (I imagine this relocation in context of "vice versa" still works?) and vice versa, which can generate free turns for Chansey's ally. However, all three moves come at the cost of losing out on Toxic or Stealth Rock, which makes Chansey even more passive.
