Chansey (Stadium Ou mini) WIP

[OVERVIEW]

Boasting the highest HP and nearly the highest Special in the game, Chansey is a staple in RBY Stadium OU. Its ability to paralyze foes, heal itself, and steadily hammer away at the opponents HP makes it second to none.Chansey can even set up Reflect to increase its physical bulk against heavy hitters like Snorlax and Tauros. Chansey is an absolutely vital Pokemon in RBY Stadium OU. Almost every team needs her to succeed, and the few that don't need a very good reason for skipping out. Chansey also serves as an excellent paralysis sponge thanks to her phenomenal bulk. Switch her in on Thunder Wave, and sponge away any further attempts at paralyzing, as well as attempts at sleep and freeze Chansey's main weakness is her pitiful Defense stat, making it easy pickings for the tier's premier physical attackers, such as Snorlax Tauros and Rhydon. Chansey's excellent offense, and near perfect defense makes it an excellent top-tier pick for beginners and experts alike.

[SET]
name: Reflect
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Seismic Toss / Ice Beam
move 3: Softboiled
move 4: Thunder Wave

[SET COMMENTS]

Chansey's offense and defense are second-to-none, and with this set, it can even stand up to physical attackers like Snorlax and Tauros. Seismic Toss deals consistent damage to anyone, and puts even more pressure on paralyzed foes. Ice Beam is a good option as well, fishing for Freeze on opposing Chansey, Alakazam, and other threats. Softboiled heals and is Chansey's biggest boon and claim to fame. T-wave paralysis foes. This set is strong all throughout the game. Chansey's bulk is so great it can be paralyzed and still perform its role beautifully. Chansey naturally lures in a lot of physical attackers, so use the opportunity to set up reflect and gain momentum to paralyze another foe, or fish for a freeze.

[SET]
name: BoltBeam
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Softboiled
move 4: Thunder Wave / Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam combined provide the classic "BoltBeam" combo. Ice Beam gives excellent type coverage against bulky Grounds like Rhydon, as well as bulky Grasses like Exeggutor. It also hits Zapdos really well, and provides the invaluable chance to "KO" an opponent early via freeze. Thunderbolt slams Gyrados and Lapras really hard, as well as Starmie and any other bulky waters. Just keep in mind that Chansey can't hit special walls very well with this set, barring freeze and lucky full para's. T-wave provides paralysis support, and Substitute provides great scouting ability, status protection, and builds momentum. This set provides higher offense than other sets, thanks to its great type coverage and Chansey's high Special. The choice between Thunder Wave and Substitute comes down to weather you prefer a more offensive or defensive strategy. Thunder Wave provides better defense, giving you another Pokemon to paralyze foes with. Substitute provdies scouting and momentum at the cost of some HP.

[SET]
name: Substitute
move 1: Seismic Toss
move 2: Thunder Wave
move 3: Softboiled
move 4: Substitute
[SET COMMENTS]

This set is more vulnerable physically than the Reflect set, but can bring great momentum and scouting with Sub and T-wave. Seismic Toss provides consistent damage against everyone. Snorlax and Tauros are good choices, as is Zam. Exeggutor checks Gengar well if they're paralyzed.

Counter can score some stylish burst KOs against Snorlax and Tauros, but watch out for critical hits and Chansey's generally low Defense. Light Screen can provide special bulk for the rest of the team, including those weak to special attacks such as Rhydon. Defense Curl can help Chansey sponge physical hits better. Sing can provide sleep support, but is ill-advised due to the prominence of Substitute in RBY Stadium OU

I'm gonna give some feedback here as this analysis needs quite a bit of help. A lot of this will need to be re-written or otherwise evaluated. I understand you're passionate and want to contribute so don't take this personally, take it as an improvement opportunity.

As a general rule, try to use good grammar. GP is much, much less likely to go through an analysis if you don't have good grammar as it makes their job extremely difficult. Even giving this feedback is pretty hard honestly, as there are a lot of basic mistakes. Again, please don't take this personally, as I know you'll improve as time goes on. Most sections would probably reject an analysis like this but I don't think that would teaches people anything, so let's try going through this together, yeah?

[OVERVIEW]

Boasting the highest HP and nearly the highest Special in the game, Chansey is a staple in RBY Stadium OU and arguably mandatory on most teams. Its ability to paralyze foes, heal itself, and steadily hammer away at the opponents foe's HP throughout a game makes it second to none a strong defensive presence on a majority of teams. Chansey can even set up Reflect to increase its physical bulk against heavy hitters like Snorlax and Tauros. (It's really just for Snorlax a lot of the time, if Tauros stays in on a Chansey it can't blast away with Hyper Beam something is very wrong) Chansey is an absolutely vital Pokemon in RBY Stadium OU. Almost every team needs her to succeed, and the few that don't need a very good reason for skipping out. (repetition) Chansey also serves as an excellent paralysis sponge absorber thanks to her its phenomenal bulk, making further status attempts much more difficult. (the weakness part isn't wrong it should just be in the next paragraph)

(Chansey is much more than just this. It has an absolutely incredible movepool, stalls the powerful Psychic-types like Starmie and Alakazam, and its ability to act as a pseudo-Psychic resist. It has massive Substitute HP too, which it can use in Stadium, though it's difficult. Write about this. This first paragraph should be very long and info-filled.)

Chansey's main weakness is her pitiful Defense stat, making it easy pickings for the tier's premier physical attackers, such as Snorlax Tauros and Rhydon.

(You should include a second paragraph for negatives. Negatives include the iffy Defense stat as you mentioned before, but there are others. Chansey's offensive presence is rather mediocre overall, which means it can be out-offensed by quite a few Pokemon. Because it's often receiving paralysis even in Stadium, it's also vulnerable to just getting ganked by RNG: for example, Alakazam can situationally win because of Special drops, crits, and full paralysis. It's also quite slow, so if switching in it will be taking multiple hits. There's more than just this but I think it's enough for you to work with and process.)

[SET]
name: Reflect
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Seismic Toss / Ice Beam
move 3: Soft-Boiled
move 4: Thunder Wave

[SET COMMENTS]

Chansey's offense and (It really doesn't hit that hard compared to the other titans of the tier. It's quite average) defense are special bulk is second-to-none, and with this set Reflect, it can even stand up to physical attackers like Snorlax and Tauros. Seismic Toss deals consistent damage to anyone, and puts even more pressure on paralyzed foes. Ice Beam is a good option as well, fishing for freeze on opposing Chansey, Alakazam Snorlax, and other big threats. (Freezing a Pokemon is good but against Alakazam that's kinda iffy since it isn't that valuable, you really wanna fish for the big targets.) Soft-Boiled heals and is Chansey's biggest boon and claim to fame, keeping it out of KO range. T-wave paralysis foes. (go over its nature as speed control, forcing faster Pokemon like Starmie out. Note that Substitute can really hurt it) This set is strong all throughout the game. Chansey's bulk is so great it can be paralyzed and still perform its role beautifully. (this was established in the overview) Chansey naturally lures in a lot of physical attackers, so use the opportunity to set up reflect and gain momentum to paralyze another foe, or fish for a freeze.

Mention the following:
- This set has a big weakness to critical hits. Tauros has an absurd critical hit rate which may try to muscle past in a tough spot, and Persian is much more relevant in this metagame. Critical hits ignore Reflect! This is partly why we run Thunder Wave.
- Substitute Rhydon completely ruins this set if you run Seismic Toss, you should really establish this. It even has a better critical hit rate in Stadium, so it is statistically more likely to win.
- You fail to mention areas where Reflect Chansey can enter: Snorlax is a common early-game wallbreaker and you can just bring this in, Reflect up, and force it out.
- This set also has trouble against Alakazam and Starmie, especially if running Psychic. Chansey is very vulnerable to getting ruined by RNG in this metagame.

- Pokemon that pair well with Reflect Chansey: Alakazam, Amnesia or Physical-centric Snorlax sets, Starmie, etc. Any team that needs a stop to Snorlax really, it's the main reason you go for it.

[SET]
name: BoltBeam
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Softboiled
move 4: Thunder Wave / Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam combined provide the classic "BoltBeam" combo, which is unresisted coverage in RBY. Ice Beam gives excellent type coverage against bulky Ground-types like Rhydon, as well as bulky Grasse-types like Exeggutor. It also hits Zapdos really well, and provides the invaluable chance to "KO" an opponent early via freeze, most notably opposing Chansey that it can otherwise PP stall if not paralyzed. Thunderbolt slams Gyarados and Lapras really hard, as well as Starmie and any other bulky Water-types. Just keep in mind that Chansey can't hit special walls very well with this set, barring freeze and lucky full paralysis. T-wave Thunder Wave provides paralysis support, and Substitute provides great scouting ability, status protection, and builds momentum. (These areas are all quite vague, we could possibly elaborate on these by providing examples of situations where it helps, yeah?) This set provides higher offense than other sets, thanks to its great type coverage and Chansey's high Special. (established in the opening line) The choice between Thunder Wave and Substitute comes down to weather you prefer a more offensive or defensive strategy. Thunder Wave provides better defense, giving you another Pokemon to paralyze foes with. Substitute provdies scouting and momentum at the cost of some HP. (no, not quite...)

(I'm honestly not even sure if you go for Substitute here, I would personally cut it entirely. Signalling Mikon and Ctown6 for their opinions)

You should mention the following;
- Try noting more Pokemon hit hard by BoltBeam to sell this, as right now you only have a few and it's just not going to represent the set for what it is.
- BBChansey works best on teams that could use with the extra coverage, and most importantly, the ability to check Starmie. This set beats Starmie very consistently with Thunder Wave.
- This set is not great against Snorlax, which should be noted. You don't want to take paralysis a lot when using this set as Snorlax just beats you afterwards.
- Alakazam likes to PP stall or otherwise try to force this set out as it lacks Seismic Toss. Remember the aforementioned Special drops, crits, and full paralysis point.

[SET]
name: Substitute
move 1: Seismic Toss / Ice Beam
move 2: Thunder Wave / Counter
move 3: Soft-Boiled
move 4: Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is more vulnerable physically than the Reflect set, but can bring great momentum and scouting with Sub and T-wave. Seismic Toss provides consistent damage against everyone. Snorlax and Tauros are good choices, as is Zam. Exeggutor checks Gengar well if they're paralyzed.

This needs re-writing entirely. Substitute is used because it protects Chansey from status, meaning you can fight Psychic-types like Alakazam and Starmie way more consistently than with other sets. Hell, they can't even break the Substitute in one hit. It also does two very important things: you can Counter Snorlax from behind the Substitute, and also duel Rhydon from behind the Substitute if you use Ice Beam. You need to explain this in detail. Stadium mechanics are very beneficial here and are a major reason why we're here at all. Counter is worse in Stadium overall but you still get to bonk Snorlax and that's great.

I believe you should understand the rest from what I've mentioned before.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
============= (I do think this is worth exploring but QC may want to make it a full analysis in this case)
Counter can score some stylish burst KOs against Snorlax and Tauros on sets not using Substitute, but watch out for critical hits and Chansey's generally low Defense. (this isn't really the problem, it's that it's a bit of a one-trick) Light Screen can provide special bulk for the rest of the team, including those weak to special attacks such as Rhydon. Defense Curl can help Chansey sponge physical hits better. Sing can provide sleep support, but is ill-advised due to the prominence of Substitute in RBY Stadium OU

Substitute is its own set and shouldn’t be ran on bolt beam. Doesn’t mean you can’t but it’s just bad bad bad. It should be stated it can be used in other options as it actually gives you some odds to beat starmie and egg. Not sure what will happen with this analysis as iirc, it was since let go. Although I think walking through it could be helpful. Great evaluation by pvk and a great learning experience. Also if these changes get implemented it would actually be possible to do a qc.

Also Chansey is hard, no matter who wrote this it would have to go through a good amount of qc, so definitely don’t take it personally.

edit: just cut it entirely, briefly mention in OO
