Introduction
This is the team I use exclusively on OU on Pokemon Showdown. Currently I am top 350 at the ladder, with an elo of 1704 with my second account (lillion2). Lillion1 is used for testing new ideas. This here is a balanced team with 4 reasonably tanky pokemon and 2 high damage dealers.

Teambuilding
This team has changed over time until I was sattisfied with what I had. I used Excadrill instead of Skarmory for a while as a defogger or a scarfer, Gengar was latios (latios defogger while excadrill was the scarfer) for a while and Landorus-T was used for a while instead of Ferrothorn in a Rotom-W Lando core. Also I prefer not to use double items in this team, so no leftovers for more than 1 pokemon etc

The team

Mega-Charizard X
charizard-mega-x.gif

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

I decided to use Charizard X because I consider him to be the best dragon type in OU and also needed a boosted sweeper. At +1 it can sweep through entire teams, once his hard counters have been taken care of, something the rest of my team word towards for. It is the standard dragon dance set: Dragon claw is for amazing neutral dammage. Flare Blitz is his most destructive ability. Dragon Dance is to boost him. Roost is to heal him. Jolly nature to outspeed as many pokemon as possible.

Azumarill
azumarill.gif

Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

Azumarill was added because I needed a good fairy type pokemon, which was also good specially defensive, since I was weak in that department. Again the standard assault vest set from the strategy page. 240 HP EV's for getting an odd number there. Knock Off because it is amazing to use if opponent might swap out, and it gives me something great to use against pokemon like Gengar etc. This fella is also my swithin to Keldeo and many other special attackers that cant hit it super effectively. With Assault Vest he has 300 sp def giving me the option to survive many special attackers. Azumarill also takes care of pokemon that counter Charizard X, such as Landorus T (and other ground types), Heatran, Tyranitar etc.

Ferrothorn

ferrothorn.gif

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 92 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Thunder Wave

I wanted to have a stealth rock setter and Ferrothorn became it, because of it's synergy with Charizard X and Azumarill. Again a standard set copied from the website here. Rocky Helmet is used to maximize damage dealt when phisically attacked. I love switching him in on pokemon that can only use physical attacks. Thunder Wave is used for speed control, did not see a reason to use grass moves, since it would give much added advantages. If I have set rocks already and the opponent cant really damage him, I usually either use Leech Seed or Thunder Wave, second one if I expect a switch, especially to a faster pokemon or fire types. Gives me great defensive abilities, and has great synergy with my entire team, including Rotom-W and Skarmor.

Rotom-W
rotom-w.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Def / 108 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest

The pokemon I usually use as Pivot. Will-O-Wisp is great if I expect switches to physical attackers, or pokemon that have recovery. Also another pokemon that helps me deal with counters to CHarizard X, such as earth types. This EV set allows me to survive solarbeams from pokemon like Charizard Y, and special attacks of pokemon like Latios etc. Also helps him survive most physical attacks as well, just before giving them a burn. Also the only pokemon I have that can deal reasonable damage to Volcanion, once of the counters to my deck. Usually switch to Azumarill after wards if Rotom hit first, if he hit second I switch to someone that can deal enough damage to beat that annoying piece of shit. Rest and Chesto are used for healing and also helps him with getting rid of status. Good core with Ferrothorn and Charizard X

Skarmory
skarmory.gif

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 SpD
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- Roost
- Whirlwind

My second tank in this team, also my defogger. I use this to switch in to physical attackers, or grass types. Also really enjoy spamming whirlwind when Rocks are on the field, though this can kinda conflict with defog, a decision I have to make. Usually when they have many pokemon that are weak against rocks skarmory can win games on his own. Or I can use him to get rid of boosted pokemon of my opponent. With more than 400 def he can also survive most physical attackers. Great core with Rotom-W, Ferrothorn or Charizard X.

Gengar
gengar.gif

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Icy Wind

I needed a pokemon that could outspeed everything else and could defeat them with one attack if needed. And I wanted to have something that could deal lots of special damage. So I started using gengar with Choice scarf, since almost nobody expects it. With Latios/Latias/Lopunny Mega/ Serperior/ Manetric Mega etc usually get destroyed by his attacks, especially if they have a little of prior dammage thanks to stuff like Rocks. 40 HP EV's give him slightly more survivability. With 216 speed EV's he outspeeds everything else in the meta and many popular scarf users as well such as any pokemon with speed less than 310. His modest nature maximizes his attack output, getting it close to 400. Focus blast is a great bait for Tyranitar and Icy Wind helps him deal with flying or earth type pokemon (Landorus-T usually uses Earthquake or Rocks when it switches in on Charizard X, so I can switch to gengar and then use icy wind). This set allows him to deal with many pokemon that make it difficult for Charizard X and to revenge kill.

Things I have trouble with
Volcarona
Full stall teams
+2 Bisharp (no skarmory is no whirlwind is KO for my entire team and he can kill Zard X if not full hp)
Magnezone (I got 2 stealtypes and only switch in to him is Charizard once he is mega evolved)
Sableeye-Mega

Hey lillion1 , and this is a lovely team you have here.
volcarona.gif

  • If Mega Charizard X is defeated at any point and Azumarill is unable to stop it, Volcarona completely defeats your team at +1. Scarf Gengar is not very viable this generation due to the power creep in which it needs a Life Orb to deal any significant damage. Tyranitar generally lives a Focus Blast and then your Gengar is dead. Scarf Gengar does absolutely nothing helpful against Sableye-Mega or Bisharp either. That is why I suggest Stallbreaker Heatran > Gengar as it can check Tyranitar, Bisharp, and Mega Sableye. In addition, it completely hardwalls all standard variants of Quiver Dance Volcarona unless it carries HP Ground or something, which is unlikely. The icing on the cake is that you now have a FWG (Fire + Water + Grass) core!
latios.png

  • Skarmory seems like dead weight on this team as a physical wall, considering that Rotom-Wash, Ferrothorn, and Heatran already fulfill this job. Latios > Skarmory is better because it isn't trapped by Magnezone (allowing you to switch-in to Mega Charizard X) and hits ridiculously hard, applying actual pressure on the opposing team. If you ever have trouble breaking past that Mega Slowbro or Kyurem-Black, Latios is your go-to guy.

Have a good day, and don't hesitate to PM me!

Hey man, nice team you have there. My main gripe with this team is that it struggles vs Swords Dance Bisharp. Bisharp can find set up opportunities not only vs Ferrothorn but also Gengar when you're locked into Shadow Ball. It also destroys everything at +2 bar Skarmory, but Skarmory can't do anything back besides Whirlwind it out. Magnezone cores can also be annoying to, since you have two steel types on your team that lack Shed Shell, which forces you to predict immaculately if you want to win vs them. Another threat to the team is Manaphy, as your switch-in Ferrothorn cannot beat it 1v1 due to the lack of Power Whip.

My first suggestion will be to replace Skarmory with Garchomp. Garchomp is a great counter to Bisharp as it takes any attack is throws at it and kills it with Earthquake. In addition, it's also pretty good vs Power Up Punch Mega Lopunny, which is also a nuisance to the team now that Skarmory is gone. Ice Punch sets can be annoying, but with Rough Skin+Rocky Helmet, it's going to have to take a ton of residual damage before it knocks your Garchomp out, to the point where it's not a threat anymore.

My next suggestion will be to replace Gengar with Latias. With the Garchomp change, you need some sort of hazard removal to pair up with Charizard, and Latias fills that role. Furthermore, it gives you a better Keldeo answer as Azumarill isn't really the best Keldeo counter because of the chance that Scald can burn.

Thirdly, I'd replace Stealth Rock with Power Whip on Ferrothorn and Leftovers with Shed Shell. With the TankChomp change, having Stealth Rocks on Ferrothorn is pretty unnecessary, and with Power Whip, you can handle Manaphy a lot better. Shed Shell on Ferrothorn prevents you from being trapped by Magnezone, thus making you less weak to Magnezone offensive cores. I think you should keep Thunder-Wave on Ferrothorn as it paralyzes Pokemon such as Talonflame, Charizard, and Heatran on the switch.

Lastly, with TankChomp over Skarmory, Mega Pinsir becomes a small issue, because your Physical wall, Garchomp, is OHKOed by +2 Return after Stealth Rocks. This is why I'd making Rotom-W fully Physically defensive with Leftovers>Chesto Berry and Pain Split>Rest. With Rotom-W fully Physically Defensive, it gives you a reliable switch-in to Mega Pinsir with Leftovers recovery and its defensive typing . In addition, I don't think you need Special Defense EVs, just because Latias can take care of Charizard Y on its own.
