I essentially created this team to dip my feet into the stall playstyle. I'm having mixed success with it, and would like to get some feedback on how it can be improved. The main weaknesses to this team are Skarm once Zapdos is down, as well as taunt dd gyarados.
Any and all help would be appreciated, so now it's onto the team.
Forretress (F) @ Occa Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Payback
*The 112 spd evs allow me to always survive standard lead azelf's fireblast, should I be dumb enough to stay in. Against slower leads, I'll try to stack toxic spikes first, as these leads tend to have bulkier teams behind them. At the first site of fire, switch out, as the goal of the game is to keep forry alive until the entire opposing team is scouted.
Hippowdon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Slack Off
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
*Standard hippo. I'll try to switch him in early to get the sand started, as well as set up rocks. He is invaluable against LO sweepers, and I'll usually spend every turn slacking off if an offensive threat appears.
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Roost
- Toxic
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
*This is the second half of my defensive game. It does a great job at taking care of sd luke, and it simply fills the gaps that hippo struggles with. If an opposing scizor is u-turning, and rocks aren't up, this is the guy I switch to. Toxic is there to predict switch ins, as mixed electivire does alot of damage to this team if toxic spikes aren't up.
(Blissey) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def / 40 SAtk / 216 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Softboiled
- Heal Bell
- Seismic Toss
- Ice Beam
*IB is there to allow me to do something against gengar, and it proves extremely useful against late-game flygon. It's a cleric as alot of my team has problems with status, and I can't imagine facing other stall teams without it. Blissey is the special wall, and it ends up getting switched in alot. It's probably my number 1 priority poke to keep alive.
Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP / 104 Def / 68 Spd / 148 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Roar/HP Electric
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
*I run roar on this vaporeon in order to have a phazer from both the physical and special side. I'm considering running hp electric for no other reason than to beat gyara. Thoughts on this are appreciated.
Spiritomb (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Pain Split
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Will-o-Wisp
- Sucker Punch
- Shadow Ball/Psychic
*This is my own custom set if you will. The combo of pain split and sucker punch is really appreciated and this seems to be my "emergency stop" if you will. The priority really helps out if my team simply can't handle something.
HP fire is a nasty surprise for forretress' who try to set up on me, the same applies to the scizors who always seem to come in. I'm debating dropping it for will-o-wisp, and some advice is needed. The special EVs are there to allow me to beat Starmie. Also, I'm considering to run psychic so this can be my switchin to lead machamp.
Thanks for your time.
