Gen 8 Choice Band Buzzwole [WIP]

yone

formerly Herv
is a Tiering Contributoris a Past WCoP Champion
[OVERVIEW]

Buzzwole benefits from a major advantage in the combination of high stats in HP, Attack and Defense. This advantage is followed by a great coverage, allowing it to hit a lot of target with super effectives attacks.
Buzzwole high HP and Defense allows it to deal with physical threats such as Weavile, Rillaboom, Bisharp and Kartana. The high Attack stat and the said coverage allows to OHKO them. That makes any Future Sight user a great partner for Buzzwole to do massive damages through any Pokémon in the tier.
However, Buzzwole has a disadvantage in it's low Special Defense stat that makes it hard to rely on against teams that use Future Sight with any physical threat and against special attackers in general such as Dragapult, Blacephalon, Tapu Lele Tapu Koko, Tornadus, Volcarona.
Buzzwole is also weak to contact punish in Rocky Helmet, Static and Flame Body.
A contact punisher such as Zapdos can survive any attack from Buzzwole while also being faster and threats it initially with Static.
Heatran and Volcarona have the possibility to burn Buzzwole with Flame Body on a switch in and finally, any Rocky Helmet user such as Toxapex or Ferrothorn can low Buzzwole's HPs really fast.
The Eject Button strategy that consists in activates it on a Buzzwole attack to bring another Pokémon to take on the momentum is also something to consider on the building around Choice Band Buzzwole.
For the natures, going with the Adamant allows Buzzwole to maximize damages while going with the Jolly nature allows it to be faster than timid Heatran, neutral speed nature Dragonite, Rillaboom, Volcanion and neutral speed Excadrill.

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

The possibility to attack on 4 different types is the principal advantage of this Buzzwole's set,
Close combat is the obligatory move and is more valuable than Drain Punch for damage inflicted even on Corviknight, doing enormous damage even on Fight-type resistant Pokémon.
Leech Life is extremely powerful and mandatory for sustain and therefore for battle survivability, picking up OHKOs on pokémon like Weavile, and Slowking, Tapu Lele and Tyranitar, guaranteeing 2HKOs on Slowbro and Slowking-Galar by going with Adamant nature. Making Buzzwole a Choice Band user who can stay alive for a long time in the game, and even more menacing with Beast Boost. Ice Punch is very strong on Buzzwole to punish Landorus, Dragonite and Garchomp as an OHKO move, also doing massive damage to Zapdos while having the chance to Freeze.
These three moves being coupled with Earthquake, making an excellent choice against teams including Heatran, Toxapex and Electric types such as Zeraora and Tapu Koko. Combining surprise and immense damage, and allowing Buzzwole to impose the risk of further increasing his Atk stat with Beast Boost. Poison Jab, being the second choice, provides a considerable surprise effect against Fairy types such as Clefable and Tapu Fini, and can totally gain the upper hand in the game on an opposing switch-in.

Team Options
========

Buzzwole band fits the best in Bulky Offense teams, because it needs support and time for it to start making the difference in the game. This offensive need can be fulfilled by adding a partner such as a Future Sight, this user can be Slowbro, Slowking, Slowking-Galar or Tapu-Lele, it all depends on the configuration of the team. Slowbro and Slowking are the most ideal partners since they can use Teleport to be safe while applying the threat while they also act as Fire type resists. Buzzwole also appreciates the presence of special walls partners such as Tyranitar and Heatran that can endure the ghost spam structures or even Ferrothorn to endure the double stab spam from Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini.
Since Leech Life is not always reliable for the sustain in some matchups, Buzzwole needs a consistent Defog user that can have their HP regenerated such as Tornadus-Therian, Corviknight or Zapdos. Landorus-T is preferably the pick for Offense teams.

Other Options
=============

Thunder Punch is an option worth to be considered, it makes significant damages on usual Buzzwole checks such as Toxapex, Corviknight and Tornadus-T with electric terrain, it also OHKO's Pelipper.
