Gouging Fire is a potent wallbreaker and cleaner commonly found on sun teams. Under sun, Tera Fire makes Heat Crash a very powerful and spammable move. Flare Blitz allows Gouging Fire to hit heavier Pokemon that Gouging Fire can't hit as hard with Heat Crash, like Great Tusk and Ting-Lu. Raging Fury is an alternative option to this, as it is not a contact move and does not deal recoil damage. 168 Attack EVs and a Jolly Nature allow it to gain a Speed boost under sun with Protosynthesis. Even with this combination, Gouging Fire is still stopped by heavier foes that are also very physically bulky, such as Garganacl, Great Tusk and Dondozo. Choice Band Gouging Fire is also very prone to entry hazard chip, as it does not hold Heavy-Duty Boots. Because of these reasons, Gouging Fire largely appreciates hazard removal options like Great Tusk and Iron Treads that also synergize well with sun setters, which are Torkoal and Mega Charizard Y. Great Tusk is great under sun as it can be a good wallbreaking partner with an Attack Protosynthesis boost. Great Tusk is also able to help wallbreak against some other Fire-resistant foes, such as Garganacl, chipped Alomomola, and opposing Great Tusk. Iron Treads , on the other hand, has Volt Switch to bring Gouging Fire in safely. Gouging Fire also greatly appreciates Pokemon that can threaten Alomomola and Dondozo on their weaker Special Defense side, like Raging Bolt and Mega Charizard Y. Raging Bolt can threaten Gouging Fire's common switch-ins like Dondozo and Alomomola with powerful Special attacks and super effective STAB moves and also use Volt Switch to bring Gouging Fire in very easily. Gouging Fire also supports Raging Bolt by threatening the Ground-types and Electric-resistant foes that can switch into it, such as Gliscor, Ferrothorn, Landorus-T. Mega Charizard Y is one of Gouging Fire's best partners, as it sets up sun with Drought, allowing Gouging Fire to boost its Speed with Protosynthesis, and can also break holes into opposing teams with Solar Beam and powerful Fire-type moves.

(you don't need to mention the sun setter since they're the obviously only viable two) Under sun, Gouging Fire and tera Fire makes Heat Crash a very powerful and spammable move.(dont miss this .) Flare Blitz is an alternative move for heavier Ppokemon that Gouging Fire can't hit as hard with Heat Crash, like Great Tusk and Ting-Lu. 168 atk evs and a Jolly Nature allow it to gain a speed boost under sun with Protosynthesis. With this combination, the only mons that can really stop it are heavier mons that are also very physically bulky, such as Garganacl, Great Tusk and Ting-LuDondozo. Gouging Fire is also very prone to hazard chip as it no longer holds the Heavy Duty Boots that protect it from such. Because of these reasons, Gouging Fire largely appreciates hazard removal that also synergize well with either one of its respective sun setters, like Great Tusk and Iron Treads. Great Tusk is great under sun as depending on its ev spread, it can be a good breaking partner with an attack boost (you need to be specific about how tusk can be helpful, the walls it can break through, switch-ins it can handle, or its utility like knock off etc) or tank multiple physical moves with a defense boost (bad set). Iron Treads is able to rapid spin Rapid Spin and has volt switch Volt Switch to bring Gouging Fire in safely. Gouging Fire also greatly appreciates Pokemon that can threaten said bulky physical Ppokemon on the special side like Raging Bolt and Mega-Charizard-YMega Charizard Y. Raging Bolt can threaten Gouging Fire's common switch-ins like Dondozo and Alomomola (you can get more details on how raging bolt and gfire can solve checks for each other but remember to focus on its interaction with gfire. it's not an analysis for rbolt in sun) greatly appreciates the sun as well, as it also has the Protosynthesis ability, as as such, can also gain a special attack buff and become very threatening. Raging Bolt can also volt switch Volt Switch to bring in Gouging Fire very easily. Mega-Charizard-YMega Charizard Y is one of Gouging Fire's best partners, as it sets up sun with Drought allowing Gouging Fire to boost its Speed with Protosynthesis the sun which make it such a big threat, and can also break holes into opposing teams with Solar Beam and powerful fire moves in order for Gouging Fire to have an easier time breaking through the opposing team.

Flare Blitz is an alternative move for allows Gouging Fire to hit avoid repetition later + reword for clarity heavier Pokemon that Gouging Fire can't hit as hard with Heat Crash, like Great Tusk and Ting-Lu. Raging Fury is an alternative option to this, (AC) as it is not a contact move and does not have deal recoil damage. However, it does lock you into the move for 2-3 turns and confuses you, forcing you to switch out. dex info 168 Attack EVs and a Jolly Nature allow it to gain a Speed boost under sun with Protosynthesis. Mega Charizard Y is one of Gouging Fire's best partners, as it sets up sun with Drought, (AC) allowing Gouging Fire to boost its Speed with Protosynthesis(remove space), and can also break holes into opposing teams with Solar Beam and powerful fire Fire-type moves in order for Gouging Fire to have an easier time breaking through the opposing team fluff.
