Moves
=========
Choice Band-boosted STAB Outrage is a very strong move that threatens at least a 2HKO against anything that doesn't resist it. Extreme Speed, a +2 priority attack, allows Dragonite to revenge kill weakened sweepers or be a late game cleaner. It is also useful against other priority users such as Talonflame or Mega Medicham. Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types, such as Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor. Earthquake rounds out the set, providing strong neutral coverage that hits Fairy-types such as Clefable and Mega Diancie while also hitting Steel-types harder, especially Heatran. Other options include Ice Punch, which hits Ground-types like Garchomp and Landorus-T. Iron Head is a possible alternative for Fairy-types such as Clefable and Mega Altaria.
Set Details
=========
252 Attack EVs and an Adamant nature maximize Dragonite's offensive potential. The Choice Band further increases Dragonite's damage output while not relying on Dragon Dance and therefore allowing Dragonite to immediately deliver hard blows. Multiscale is to ensure that Dragonite can safely get off a hit without risking being KOed. Inner Focus can also be used to bypass Fake Out users like Mega Lopunny or Mega Medicham.
Usage Tips
=========
Choice Band Dragonite mainly takes three functions in a team. With immediate impact thanks to its powerful attacks, it can wallbreak early-game and weaken opposing Pokemon to the point where sweepers on your team can finish them off. However, in mid- or late-game, Dragonite best uses this set to do damage and switch out as a hit-and-run attacker. Lastly, Dragonite can act as a revenge killer by using Extreme Speed to finish off weakened opponents. This is especially true versus sweepers that cannot break Dragonite easily, such as Serperior and Volcarona. This variant of Dragonite should usually switch out when there is an opposing check sent in, as it will retain its power, unlike Dragon Dance sets. Preserving Multiscale should still be kept in mind, but it does not tend to be as much of a priority as it is for other Dragonite sets.
Team Options
=========
This Dragonite tends to switch out often, and because Stealth Rock breaks Multiscale and takes a quarter of its health away, Rapid Spin or Defog support is needed. Excadrill has great defensive synergy with Dragonite, making it a good choice for a Rapid Spinner. Latias not only provides Defog support but also can use Healing Wish, which can allow Dragonite to recover health. Mega Diancie can keep entry hazards off the field while benefiting from the holes Dragonite tears into enemy teams, like the Steel-type Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor, which are in highly threatened by Fire Punch. Magnezone is a great partner as well, as it forms a DragMag core with Dragonite, punishes Fairy-types, and has great defensive synergy. Bisharp is also a good partner, as it can punish Fairy-types with Iron Head as well and Pursuit trap Latios and Latias. Sweepers like Mega Gyarados or Mega Alakazam can make great use of Dragonite's wallbreaking skills.
