Introduction:

Hey people from Smogon. After sometime building the same OU teams composed with the same OU pokémon, I decided to give a try on something different. Here's the thing: This team only has pokémon that abuse Choice Itens (Scarf, Band, Specs). So you're probably thinking: "what the hell are you doing?", "this team is ridiculous", etc. But the thing is, this team is REALLY nice. I built it just 4fun though, so it ain't going to be one of the best OU teams of our times, but if you want to taste something different, you should give it a try.

Teambuilding:

Well, since it was a choice team, it needed the two most used choice pokémon (i guess): Rotom-W and Scizor. They both have access to reliable moves and they have a nice sinergy together. And if that wasn't enough, they keep me with the advantage using the VoltTurn strategy. Oh, I love them.

Since I had Rotom-W and Scizor, I realized some Rain might come in handy. So SpecsToed came in with his double STAB Hydro Pump, that fit as a glove on my team. After that, I realized that I needed to surprise my enemies with a pokémon that is not seem often these days, so I put Metagross and it took out some problems.

So I decided that I needed to cover my weakness to Ground (if Rotom-W is killed) and Electric. So Jolteon came in with his ridiculous Speed stat and his imunity to Electric moves. Oh, he's so awesome. After him, the next choice wasn't hard: Celebi. Why Celebi? Because even with lots of annoying weaknesses he has the nice resistences I needed, so he took the last spot.

So with the help of Chapolin, I realized that Scizor and Metagross were doing the exact same job at the team. Who should I take out? Metagross for sure, since Scizor has a scout move and a better STAB Bullet Punch. But who could replace Metagross? Well, Terrakion (thanks again for Chapolin). And so, BandTerra came in and BandGross came out.

The Sets:

114px-186Politoed_OS_anime.png

Politoed @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EV's: 228 HP / 252 SAtk / 28 Spe
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast

SpecsToed is a monster. Seriously, if the enemy doesn't watch out, he can sweep deadly. He can even 3HKO standart Chansey sometimes, and this is awesome. The EV's give him max Special Attack, that make his double STAB Hydro Pump the strongest move in the team. 228 HP provide him a very nice bulk, that make his resistences even more great. 28 Spe to outspeed some Scizor variants, that can help A LOT. The moves are the same as always. Hydro Pump for STAB (and what a STAB); Ice Beam for coverage, deafeting Grass types and hitting Gliscor and Landorus harder; Hidden Power [Grass] takes out Gastrodon, Quagsire and some Jellicent variants; Focus Blast to take Ferrothorn on the switch.

201px-212Scizor_OS_anime.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Trait: Techniciam
EV's: 148 HP / 252 Atk / 96 SDef / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Scizor is the most used pokémon from Gen V. At first, I didn't like him. Honestly, I don't like pokémon that too many people use. But after testing it I realized that he deserves being the #1 on the usage statiscs. He simply amazing, and he's now one of my favorites. The EV's explore him in a great way, giving it mac Attack and bulk enough to receive a +2 Hidden Power [Fire] from Celebi under Rain. The moves are the same: Bullet Punch that is STAB and Priority, which is incredible with Techniciam; U-turn for and to kill like a boss; Superpower is the most realiable way to defeat Steels and Chanseys, since Brick Break is weak as hell; Pursuit to trap Latios and other Psychics that try to run away. I tested Quick Attack too, but it didn't work out well.

120px-135Jolteon_Dream.png

Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Trait: Volt Absorb
EV's: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)

- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Signal Beam

Hey, why are you using a UU pokémon? Hell, I hate when people think Jolteon is UU. This thing is OU and it's SOLID. Even with his movepool that lacks some coverage, he can be a great revenge killer, with his ridiculous Speed and solid Special Attack. The EV's give him max Spe and nice SAtk, that can outspeed Dragon Dancers and even some Shell Smashers. Thunder is the STAB move, that hits with amazing power; Hidden Power [Ice] for coverage, taking out Grass and Ground types; Volt Switch for scout and desperate runaways (like from SubDD Gyarados); Signal Beam for Tyranitar, Celebi and other Psychics and Dark types.

180px-639Terrakion.png

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EV's: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SAtk)

- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- X-Scissor

BandTerra is probably the best choicer of this Gen. He has incredible Speed, great typing and awesome Attack. He resists Stealth Rock and he counters common threats such as Tyranitar and Chansey. "Oh, put ScarfTerra, he can outspeed Latios, nhenhenhe" No. BandTerra hits MUCH harder and I already have Scizor to wall Latios and other Psychics. Close Combat is the main STAB, that takes out lots of pokémon; Stone Edge (even with the bad accuracy) can be a great reliable move that's able to hit Flying types hard; Earthquake for the famous EdgeQuake coverage; X-Scissor to defeat Psychics. At first I used Quick Attack, that could kill Scarf Rotom-W if it was damaged, but X-Scissor prooved to be better.

120px-251Celebi_OS_anime.png

Celebi @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Natural Cure
EV's: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earth Power
- U-turn

Oh, Celebi. So weak and so strong at the same time. Celebi is the main revenge killer of my team, being able to come in to common Fighting and Ground moves and than taking the enemies out with it's powerful STAB's. The EV's maximize it's SAtk and Scarf provides him the necessary Speed to outrun Scarf Rotom-W. Leaf Storm makes him able to kill LOTS of common pokémon (Tyranitar, Jellicent, Starmie, Terrakion, Rotom-W, Politoed, etc.); Hidden Power [Ice] to defeat Dragons, that cause lots of problems in this team; Earth Power to take out Heatran, that might be the main threat due to his TormentTran set (which is not that bad, though, since nobody uses it); And at the last slot, U-turn, that scouts and run away from Scizor on the switch.

200px-479Rotom-Wash.png

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EV's: 92 HP / 252 SAtk / 164 Spe
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick

Rotom-W is another wonderful pokémon. He has amazing stats all around, great typing, key resistences and powerful STAB's. He's always one of the most used pokémon, and he should be. The EV's leave him with a nice bulk, enough Speed and threatning Special Attack. Hydro Pump is the main STAB, that kills so many monsters; Volt Switch replaces Thunder to make the VoltTurn strategy with Scizor and Jolteon; Hidden Power [Ice] to take ou Dragons, that always cause trouble; Trick is perfect, because it cripples walls like Chansey, and even though it takes out the team's "fun", it can be very useful.

Conclusion:

This team is very good. Even though it doesn't work perfectly, it's more 4fun than for competitive use. With some practice though, this team's able to have greatful use at the OU metagame. If you people like to give it a try, i'm posting the Importable at the end of the page. Raters gonna rate?

I applaud you for using a unique and interesting playstyle. This is a well built team, and it's obvious that you put some time into it. However, there are a few glaring issues which can be remedied to make this team even more effective.

The first thing that stands out about this team is it's problems with opposing weather and Sun speficially. You are relying on rain to boost your team's ability to nail threats, but have no real way to effectively address Drought sweepers. Both Volcarona and Venesaur are going to have a field day with this team once Politoed goes down Ninetails can switch in set up sun and switch out to either Volcarona or Venesaur. After one quiver dance boost in the sun your team will have no reliable way to stop Volcarona from completely demolishing your team. In the same vein Chlorrophyl Venesaur with mixed stats can also put some major dents in this team while under the sun. With EQ, Growth, Hidden Power Fire, and Giga drain Veneaur gets perfect super effective coverage against every member of your team.

You are also weak to entry hazards and Toxic Spikes in specificaly. 4 of the 6 pokemon on your team take damage from all three types of hazards. With 4 of your pokemon poisoned your team's ability to sweep will be severly limited. You also have no way to put up Stealth Rocks as your team is currently set up. Entry hazards will do wonders for this team, and help you nail necessary KOs you would have otherwise missed.

In order to address these weaknesses I suggest that you replace Jolteon with a Choice Scarf Jirachi and to replace Celebi with Choice Band Dragonite. Firstly, Jolteon feels rather redunant next to Rotom-W in both typing, coverage, and usefullness. Jirachi on the other hand can provide you with Stealth Rock to wear down opponents, and U-turn to maintain momentum. Iron Head can also help you to with Tyranitar, and ice punch is to cover the myraid of dragons that roam OU. Jirachi's Steel typing and access to U-Turn can help it to act as a key pivot for this team.

I suggest this set:

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock

Choice Band Dragonite offers you the ability to cover the threats that Celebi covered while providing necessary priority and the ability to counter the Sun teams. The Stealth Rock weakness is a turn off, but if you play conservatively Dragonite can serve this team well. Dragonite provides another valuable immunity to Spikes and Toxic Spikes while also bringing the same resistance to Fighting attacks as Celebi. Outrage and ExtremeSpeed will allow you to hit hard against both dragons, and to revenge kill stuff like Veneaur. Earthquake is for Tyranitar and coverage against steel types with the final slot open for either Dragon Claw, or Waterfall if you feel you need the coverage or the ability to use dragon attacks without being locked in.

This is the set I suggest:
Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- ExtremeSpeed
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw/Waterfall/Coverage move

Those are my suggestions. I wish you all the best on the ladder and I hope my suggestions can help you on your path to success. Welcome to Smogon!

one thing that should should keep in the back of your mind is wobbafett as it can come in on most of your pokemon and deal with them very easily as everything is choiced it needs no prediction. also be carful as uturn and voltswitch can lead to easy ko's on incoming pokemon it isnt seen much in OU right now but a thought

Suggestion

You talk about the famous quake-edge combo on your Terrakion, but earthquake and stone edge basically provides the same coverage as close combat and stone edge. You should put quick attack back on, and remove earthquake. You definitely should keep x-scissor though.

I do know I have a flaw against Sun Sweepers, and thanks for the sets, I'll try them :)

But honestly, if I predict correctly the enemies moves I'll be able to leave the Rain on the field. And that's only because Toed has a enormous advantage againts all the other weather inducers (except Abomasnow, but who would use it? :p). Switching into Hydro Pump with Tyranitar or Tales is almost suicide, and even with the SDef boost in Sand and the Water frailness in Sun. But even though it's a way to deal with them, I know it's not nice at all using a strategy that takes risks of taking a Stone Edge or an Energy Ball on the face, so I'm going to test those sets, thanks.

About the hazards, I know they can hurt a lot, and that's why at the beginning of the team (seriously, it's been too long) I've tested Band Ferrothorn. He was great, in fact. He managed to setup Spikes and he had nice resistances against common moves. It was a shame taking him out, so I guess Jirachi will do his roll even better ^^ And than there's Jolteon, who makes exactly what Rotom-W does (like Scizor and Metagross). Honestly, I'm thinking seriously of taking Rotom out to put Starmie in his place. It would support me with Rapid Spin and revenge kill lots of pokés, but I'm not sure about it yet.

Anyway, thanks for the rate, it's nice to see people interested on my team ^^

LOL, I had a team very similar to this except it was forretress+5 banded/specs. I would replace the Politoed with Forretress or Donphan to get up hazards and be able to rapid spin as you are using 4 pokes with u-turn/volt switch and the hazard damage is helpful when you forcing switches. Rapid Spin support is also great for your team as is will prevent your turners from getting worn down by entry hazards on your side of the field. I would drop Scizors speed EVs from 12 to 4 because when it is Scizor vs. Scizor, you usually want to go second.

Hello there. Sorry to revive this thread, but it's the only one that doesn't have many posts and has an interesting team. Congrats for having this idea of building a team like that. I've never seen something like it in any Pokémon community.

Since it's a choice team, it'll have lots of flaws though. Like Lockeness said, you should try Jirachi to put in hazards. It is fast and hits hard Dragon Dancer Dragonite, which is your main weakness. I think you should replace Jolteon for a Rapid Spinner. Starmie seems the best option, but Donphan could also work with a CB set. Something like this:

Donphan @ Choice Band
Trait: Sturdy
EV's: 228 HP / 192 Atk / 88 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Eathquake
- Ice Shard
- Seed Bomb
- Rapid Spin

I know it looks weird, but it could work. The EV's in Defense and HP are there because if you replace Celebi, you'll need to take Fighting type hits with something else. Seed Bomb could take out Rotom-W and other Waters with a OHKO and Ice Shard would help Jirachi defeating Dragon Dancer DNite. Starmie is still my first suggestion, though.

Hope I've helped. Go on on your road to success! \o/

An all scarf team? if its for entertaiment not bad but if its serious for OU any1 with protect and or good predictions could stop it very easily

not all Scarfed. there are two of each. I know it's (really) odd, but I wanted to make something different from those regular OU teams. and believe it or not, it works nicely.

Sorry i ment choiced, but regardless also a skarmbliss kinda works on it, suggest you add a mixed attacker like maybe a scarfed kingdra waterfall hydro pump

I agree with Lockeness´s and I think you should replace Jolteon for Choice Band Dragonite instead. Jolteon & Rotom-W pretty much do the same, but Rotom-W has the advantage of being more bulkier and better resistances. Don´t forget that Rotom-W is the main user of Electric attacks and he can hit Jolteon with a predicted Hydro Pump, and remember that Celebi counters it anyways. The huge advantage Dragonite offers to your team is the advantage of hitting hard with a powerful Outrage that will OHKO/2HKO anything that doesnt resist it. Extremespeed means that you gain a second revenge killer making him an excellent check to Sun Teams. Aqua Tail lets you abuse Rain and OHKO Gliscor & Heatran in Rain as well allowing you to 2HKO bulky Jirachi, Skarmory, Tyranitar & Hippowdon. As the last move, you can opt to Brick Break to hit Ferrothorn or Dragon Claw as a second STAB move.

Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
