Enamorus builds a niche for itself as a decent speed control option, sporting good coverage options with the ability to outspeed other common Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Urshifu-R, Tapu Lele, and Hisuian Samurott. Choice Scarf Enamorus also gets the jump on offensive threats like Choice Specs Iron Valiant, +1 Dragonite and Garchomp. Earth Power hits targets such as Heatran, Kingambit and Gholdengo, preventing them from using Enamorus as setup fodder. Mystical Fire enables it to hit Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, Pokemon that would otherwise switch in comfortably. Healing Wish is the last move that gives weakened teammates one more chance to wallbreak or sweep if they get statused or chipped heavily, while giving a free pivot that can help versus bulkier teams.

Enamorus is mostly used on Bulky Offense teams where its speed is valued to handle common wallbreakers such as Mega Latios and Weavile. Enamorus lacks the immediate power to pose a threat to common defensive cores with Pokemon such as Toxapex, Gliscor, and Ferrothorn; thus, it values strong breakers like Mega Medicham and Kyurem to pressure these cores. Enamorus is also weak to Stealth Rock, so it appreciates partners like Great Tusk and Terapagos that can help remove them. In return, Enamorus can provide Healing Wish to help Great Tusk recover from status, and it can restore Terapagos' Tera shell while overwhelming shared checks like Heatran and Toxapex for the latter. Allies like Zamazenta, Great Tusk, and Ogerpon-W greatly appreciate Enamorus' ability to heal them in a pinch if needed.
