[SET]
Iron Boulder @ Choice Scarf
Name: Choice Scarf (Rock)
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mighty Cleave
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- Close Combat
[SET COMMENTS]
As an offensive check to Fighting-types that also compresses speed control by holding a Choice Scarf, outspeeding foes such as Choice Scarf Meowscarada, Choice Scarf Enamorus, and Regieleki, Iron Boulder is a solid ally for Rock teams. Zen Headbutt threatens foes such as Iron Valiant, Sneasler, and Mega Lopunny. Earthquake and Close Combat provide coverage to ease the matchup against certain foes, with the former hitting Jirachi, Alolan Muk, and Tapu Koko, while the latter handles foes such as Ferrothorn, Meowscarada, and Hydreigon. Entry hazards from Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Shuckle can wear down foes to ease the act for Iron Boulder to KO them; the former can also help offensively handle Dark-types for Iron Boulder. Hisuian Arcanine and Ogerpon-C also can be offensive checks to foes that can force out Iron Boulder as it gets locked into an undesirable move by KOing a foe or causing an outpredicted switch, with the former covering Steel- and Grass-types and the latter checking Water- and Ground-types. These Pokemon also complement each other at overwhelming shared checks such as Iron Hands, Kommo-o, and Skarmory.
