is an official Team Rater
Name: Choice Scarf Meowscarada
Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Ghost
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Triple Axel
- Flower Trick / Trick

With a Choice Scarf equipped, Meowscarada serves as one of the fastest pivots in the game, matching well against several notable leads such as Dragapult, Landorus-T, and Deoxys-Speed. Flower Trick helps Meowscarada muscle past threats such as Dondozo and Zamazenta, bypassing their defensive boosts with its guaranteed crit rate. Knock-Off helps remove items such as Heavy-Duty Boots and Rocky Helmet from switch-ins such as Corviknight, Galarian Weezing, and Moltres, while OHKOing Dragapult and Deoxys-S. U-Turn pivots out of bad matchups, generating progress for its teammates by helping them get into the field safely as well as stinging Hisuian Samurott, Darkrai, and Ogerpon-Wellspring. Triple Axel hits Gliscor, Landorus-T, Dragonite, Raging Bolt, and Tornadus-Therian incredibly hard, OHKOing the former three and the latter if it doesn’t have HP investment. Trick can be substituted over Flower Trick for the ability to cripple defensive walls or sweepers upon switch-in, giving Meowscarada the flexibility of being able to switch moves later in a game. Protean is used to gain STAB on every attack, synergizing with Choice Scarf as only one move will be used at a time anyways when the Choice Scarf is active. Tera Ghost is used for an immunity to Extreme Speed from Dragonite and Fighting moves from Zamazenta and Corviknight, allowing Meowscarada to potentially flip its matchup against them. Meowscarada gets no Protean boost for its attacks after it Teras however, so it should be used carefully.

Choice Scarf Meowscarada sees use on a variety of offense and balance teams that appreciate having a fast pivot that can outspeed most forms of traditional speed control. Despite its blazing speed, Meowscarada is held back by its contact-reliant moveset and the plethora of physically defensive Pokemon able to wall its attacks such as Moltres, Zapdos, Galarian-Weezing, and Zamazenta. Hazard setters such as Ting-Lu and Garchomp pair very well with Meowscarada, as they can set hazards to build up chip damage over time, while Meowscarada helps remove Heavy-Duty boots on the opposing team and threatens teams relying on Gliscor as their Knock-Off absorber. Gholdengo is a natural fit that synergizes perfectly with Meowscarada, helping against many of Meowscarada’s checks such as Zamazenta, Clefable, Galarian Weezing, and Pecharunt, and blocking all attempts at hazard control from Great Tusk, Iron Treads, and Corviknight. Raging Bolt can handle Flying-Types such as Moltres and Zapdos with its powerful Electric attacks and form a Volt-Turn pivoting core with Meowscarada if it has Volt Switch, while Meowscarada can help against Ground-Types such as Ting-Lu and Gliscor that annoy Raging Bolt. Meowscarada’s frailty also leaves it vulnerable to priority users that can circumvent its high speed such as Lokix, Kingambit, and Dragonite and chip damage from hazards. Therefore, Pokemon such as Corviknight, Moltres, and Great Tusk are valued for their ability to deal with these threats, the former two for their ability to pivot in Meowscarada safely and the latter for its hazard removal via Rapid Spin. Galarian Slowking is a fantastic partner as well, helping check Fairies such as Iron Valiant and Clefable, serving as an additional pivot via Chilly Reception, and pressuring switch-ins to Meowscarada such as Zamazenta with Future Sight.

With a Choice Scarf equipped, Meowscarada serves as one of the fastest pivots in the game, matching well against several notable leads such as Mentioning Pokemon that lead often is super hard / tricky for the reader; I would change the focus to just Pokemon that you do well against, this is a fine list Dragapult, Landorus-T, and Deoxys-Speed. Flower Trick helps Meowscarada muscle past threats such as Dondozo and Zamazenta, I would rather mention Curse Garganacl, you barely 3HKO Zama so you are likely to lose even with Tera bypassing their defensive boosts with its guaranteed crit rate. I would reword this to include Zapdos, probably over Tornadus-T, specially since you dont have it in the Knock Off section Trick can be substituted over Flower Trick for the ability to cripple defensive walls or sweepers upon switch-in, Examples would be good, particularly about the latter since you at least alluded to defensive walls earlier. Defensive walls are indeed upon switch-in, but I dont think sweepers are giving Meowscarada the flexibility of being able to switch moves later in a game. Protean is used to gain STAB on every attack, synergizing with Choice Scarf as only one move will be used at a time anyways when the Choice Scarf is active. Tera Ghost is used for an immunity to Extreme Speed from Dragonite and Fighting moves from Zamazenta and Corviknight, This is true but you are likely not doing much in return, I would remove it. It you want another example you could put Iron Valiant's Vacuum Wave allowing Meowscarada to potentially flip its matchup against them. Meowscarada gets no Protean boost for its attacks after it Teras however, so it should be used carefully.

Choice Scarf Meowscarada sees use on a variety of offense and balance teams I would restrict it to Bulky Offense and Offense, rather than Balance. Not many common partners there for this set, up to you that appreciate having a fast pivot that can outspeed most forms of traditional speed control. Despite its blazing speed, Meowscarada is held back by its contact-reliant moveset and the plethora of physically defensive Pokemon able to wall its attacks such as Moltres, Zapdos, Galarian-Weezing, and Zamazenta. This is all great but then you dont connect this with the next sentence so its placed weirdly. Perhaps try to connect it or move the sentence below Hazard setters such as Ting-Lu and Garchomp Eh, sure this is fine but an OU mon would do well here as another example, like Great Tusk or Iron Treads pair very well with Meowscarada, as they can set hazards to build up chip damage over time, while Meowscarada helps remove Heavy-Duty boots on the opposing team and threatens teams relying on Gliscor as their Knock-Off absorber. Meowscarada’s frailty also leaves it vulnerable to priority users that can circumvent its high speed such as Lokix, Kingambit, Try to make more emphasis on Kingambit if possible since it does well overall, not only due to Sucker Punch but cause it resists 3 of your moves and Dragonite and chip damage from hazards. Therefore, Pokemon such as Corviknight, Moltres, Not a particularly common partner but up to you if you want to keep it, I wouldnt personally and Great Tusk are valued for their ability to deal with these threats, the former two for their ability to pivot in Meowscarada safely and the latter for its hazard removal via Rapid Spin. Galarian Slowking is a fantastic partner as well, helping check Fairies such as Iron Valiant and Clefable, serving as an additional pivot via Chilly Reception, and pressuring switch-ins to Meowscarada such as Zamazenta with Future Sight. Iron Crown could be a good shout that similarly does fine into Clefable, Pecharunt, and Galarian Weezing and also forms a VoltTurn core; Ogerpon-W can help overwhelm Dragonite, Pecharunt, and Corviknight. Flame Body Heatran and Iron Moth are notable checks missing that you could add somewhere; you could add Iron Moth in the Galarian Slowking part, or Heatran in the Wellspring part if you were to add it. Scizor and Kyurem are trickier checks to add but they could be placed in the Raging Bolt and Gholdengo section respectively.
