Set Description
=========

Choice Scarf Tapu Fini acts as speed control that can also switch into threats like Urshifu-R and Barraskewda in the short-term. Trick has wonderful disruptive potential against passive switch-ins like Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Gastrodon by limiting their move choices if the speed control of Choice Scarf is not needed. The final moveslot has a number of options. Taunt is the move of choice, as it prevents the likes of Ferrothorn and Blissey from setting up entry hazards or inflicting status with Thunder Wave or Toxic once Misty Terrain is inactive. This also amplifies the power of Trick, as Pokemon will be forced to Struggle if they are Taunted when Choice-locked. Calm Mind is a viable alternative that turns Tapu Fini into a bulky setup sweeper after using Trick. 252 Special Attack EVs allow Tapu Fini to OHKO Dragapult and Weavile, two of the main Pokemon that this set seeks to revenge kill. 216 Speed EVs are used to outspeed Jolly Dragonite at +1, while the remaining EVs are invested into HP to maximize bulk.

Team Options
========

Choice Scarf Tapu Fini fits well on teams that desire speed control that can also provide defensive utility. Wallbreakers that appreciate it forcing out the likes of Dragapult and Weavile make for good teammates, such as Blacephalon and Kartana. Kartana particularly appreciates Tapu Fini's Misty Terrain warding off status like burn from Scald and paralysis from Static. As Choice Scarf Tapu Fini does not have the bulk of its defensive sets, it requires a defensive backbone behind it to stave off opposing threats. Ferrothorn is a fantastic partner, as it can act as a Knock Off absorber against the dangerous Weavile as well as be the first line of defense against threats like Barraskewda and Crawdaunt. It can also wear down Tapu Fini's switch-ins, such as Gastrodon and opposing Ferrothorn, with Spikes. Ground-types like Landorus-T and Garchomp can check Electric-types like Zapdos and Zeraora, and they reduce pressure on Tapu Fini to switch into Heatran. Much like Kartana, Garchomp enjoys Misty Terrain preventing it from being statused by moves like Scald, Will-O-Wisp, and Toxic. Finally, switch-ins to faster Choice Scarf users that can threaten Tapu Fini are necessary due to Tapu Fini's middling Speed tier. Tornadus-T and Zapdos can stave off Grass-types like Rillaboom and Kartana while providing Defog support, which is important, as Choice Scarf Tapu Fini lacks any form of recovery. Heatran is a sturdy Tapu Lele and Blacephalon check that can also annoy Weavile if running Flame Body. Moreover, it can wear down Gastrodon with Toxic and threaten out Ferrothorn, helping Tapu Fini break through these checks. Attackers that benefit from Trick disrupting shared checks also make for good teammates, with Zapdos appreciating Gastrodon being locked into moves other than Toxic and Weavile enjoying setup opportunities afforded by Toxapex and Ferrothorn being locked into Recover and Spikes, respectively.

Choice Scarf Tapu Fini acts as Speed control that can also switch into threats like Urshifu-R and Barraskewda. Trick has wonderful disruptive potential against passive switch-ins like Ferrothorn and Gastrodon (add Toxapex) by limiting their move choices if the Speed control of Choice Scarf is not needed. The final moveslot has a number of options. Taunt is the move of choice, as it prevents the likes of Ferrothorn and Blissey from setting up entry hazards or inflicting status with Thunder Wave or Toxic once Misty Terrain is inactive. This also amplifies the power of Trick, as Pokemon will be forced to Struggle if they are Taunted when Choice locked. Calm Mind is a viable alternative that turns Tapu Fini into a bulky setup sweeper at the cost of the aforementioned synergy and utility of Taunt. 252 Special Attack EVs allow Tapu Fini to OHKO Dragapult and Weavile, two of the main Pokemon that this set seeks to revenge kill. 216 Speed EVs are used to outspeed Jolly Dragonite at +1 while the remaining EVs are invested into HP to maximize bulk.
