Alolan Persian is an uncommun Choice Scarf user able to outspeed some of the fastest boosted threats like Klinklang after a Shift Gear, Silvally after a Flame Charge, and Shiftry under sun. Switcheroo lets Alolan Persian debilitate a foe with its Choice item, which can be quite helpful to break through some walls like Alcremie, Gurdurr, and Poliwrath. Also, unlike many other Choice Scarf + Trick / Switcheroo users like Rotom, Gourgeist-S, and Manectric, Alolan Persian still outspeeds the entire unboosted tier besides Accelgor without its Choice Scarf, meaning it can often afford to lose the Choice Scarf. Foul Play is the main STAB move, as it doesn't rely on Alolan Persian's low Attack and lets it nail threats like Swords Dance-boosted Silvally formes and Choice Scarf Gourgeist-. Knock Off is a far weaker STAB move, but it can remove useful items like Choice Scarf from Rotom, which normally doesn't expect to get outsped by Alolan Persian and tries to chip it with Volt Switch. However, note that Knock Off has bad synergy with Switcheroo, and it shouldn't be used on checks Alolan Persian has given a Choice Scarf to. Fur Coat with maximum HP investment allows Alolan Persian to switch into physical attackers like Rapidash and Thwackey.

Choice Scarf Alolan Persian fits mostly in offensive teams looking to improve their matchup against other offensive teams. Slow and strong wallbreakers like Lycanroc-N, Jynx, and Alolan Dugtrio appreciate safely coming through Parting Shot. Other defensive pivots like Clefairy, Articuno, and Uxie also make for great partners, defensively checking Alolan Persian's checks like Fighting-types and special attackers. Offensive pivots like Thwackey, Rotom, and Silvally formes can also form VoltTurn cores with Alolan Persian to slowly chip down the opposing team. This works especially well with the support of Spikes users such as Qwilfish and Froslass.

A Nasty Plot set can be used, but Alolan Persian lacks power even at +2, has mediocre coverage, and faces heavy competition from Liepard. U-turn is an option over Parting Shot to deal more damage to Dark-types like Morpeko, Shiftry, and Silvally-Dark, but the stat drops from Parting Shot are usually much more useful to let a teammate come in safely. U-turn making contact can also expose it to Rocky Helmet, Static, and Flame Body from Qwilfish, Miltank, Stunfisk, and Rapidash.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: While they dislike Knock Off and Toxic, Fighting-types such as Poliwrath and Gurdurr easily force Alolan Persian out. Choice Scarf Sawk outspeeds non-Choice Scarf Alolan Persian and prevents it from pivoting.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types easily come into Alolan Persian's Dark-type STAB attacks and force it out. Due to Sweet Veil, Alcremie can turn non-Toxic Alolan Persian into setup fodder; Rest Alcremie can even turn Toxic Alolan Persian into setup fodder. While Clefairy hates Knock Off, Alolan Persian cannot meaningfully damage it in any way and fears heavy damage from its Moonblast.

**Residual Damage**: Alolan Persian's lack of recovery makes it extremely susceptible to residual damage, especially after losing its Heavy-Duty Boots to Knock Off.

**Special Attackers**: Special attackers such as Skunktank and Ninetales easily exploit Alolan Persian's low special bulk and reliance on Foul Play.

Alolan Persian is an original Choice Scarf user able to outspeed some of the fastest boosted threats like Klinklang after a Shift Gear, Drifblim after Unburden, and Shiftry under sun. Parting Shot allows Alolan Persian to pivot out and let a partner come safely thanks to the offensive stat drop Fluff. Switcheroo lets Alolan Persian cripple a foe with its Choice item, which can be quite helpful to break some walls like Alcremie, Gurdurr, and Poliwrath. Also unlike many other Choice Scarf + Trick / Switcheroo users like Rotom, Gourgeist-S, and Manectric, Alolan Persian still outspeeds the entire unboosted tier outside of Accelgor without its Choice Scarf, meaning it can often afford to lose the Speed boost from Choice Scarf. Foul Play is the main STAB move as it doesn't rely on Alolan Persian's low Attack and lets it threaten threats like Swords Dance boosted Silvally formes and Choice Scarf Gourgeist-Small. Knock Off is a far weaker STAB move, but it can remove useful items like Choice Scarf from Rotom that wouldn't expect to get outsped by Alolan Persian and try to chip it with Volt Switch. It should however be noted that Knock Off has a bad synergy with Switcheroo and that Knock Off should avoided from being clicked if an Alolan Persian check has been crippled by it. Fur Coat with maximal HP investment allows Alolan Persian to switch into physical attackers like Rapidash and Thwackey.
