Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power Fire
- Earth Power
Kyurem is a rising star in UU largely thanks to its Choice Specs set. Its typing and bulk allow it to come in on passive attackers like Alomomola to fire off its powerful STAB attacks, which can heavily damage even targets that resist them, while thanks to Hidden Power Fire and Earth Power, which cover Scizor and other Steel-types, it can severely restrict its safe switch-ins to just Blissey. It fits well on bulky offense builds thanks to its ability to muscle past bulkier foes well so it can support sweepers like Scizor and Cobalion. As far as supporting Kyurem itself goes, it enjoys entry hazard removal from the likes of Latias and Starmie due to its Stealth Rock weakness, while Pokemon that can power through Blissey, such as Terrakion and Heracross, also support it well. Kyurem's typing results in it having weaknesses to common types such as Steel and Fighting, while its only decent Speed tier can allow faster threats to overwhelm it. Regardless, its prowess as a devastating special wallbreaker offsets its flaws enough for it to be a strong pick on multiple team archetypes.
