For a long time now Mega Gardevoir has been my favorite mega for so many reasons. It was the first shiny I've ever hatched (second I've ever caught) and I used to use it back when x and y first came out. Sense then I strayed away to try out other megas. Now that the metagame has become more developed I've decided to go back to her. Welcome, one and all, to the concert of Cinderella!
Cinderella (Gardevoir-Mega) @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Pixilate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Calm Mind
The lead singer, I decided to throw together a set similar to what I used to use. Its basic yet effective. Hyper Voice+Shadow Ball gives Gardevoir coverage for everything but Pyroar (OH PYROAR WALLS MY GARDEVOIR! WHAT DO?!?!). Psyshock is literally just for Chansey and Blissey. I decided to throw calm mind on for a predicted switch, or for those times when people lock themselves into Outrage even with a fairy type still alive.
Bouncer (Magnezone) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
Often types when Gardevoir tries to sing rude heavy metal rockers like Scizor and Heatran try to get in her way. Magnezone is here to remove these disturbances from the party. Hidden Power Fire is the most common move it uses. Volt Switch can be used to KO a weakened Steel type and get out before a ground type comes in (hes not a big fan). Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon provide decent STAB.
L0rde (Tyranitar) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Pursuit
Talonflame. Thats basically what Tyrantitar is here for. The first version of this team was almost 5-0ed by a Talonflame. I decided to run a Scarf set since I dont have a scarfer, although Im considering switching to more supportive set with Stealth Rocks. Rock Slide handles Charizard, Talonflame and is its primary STAB move. Earthquake can helps with Heatran, since that also walls Gardevoir. Crunch for STAB. And Pursuit is for trapping Psychic and Ghost types, although to be honest most run a fighting or fairy type move now a days so I really only use it if I know the opponent is choiced.
Flop (Scolipede) @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
- Baton Pass
I've always wanted to use a Scolipede, and when I noticed that how well it works with Gardevoir I had to use it. I dont like straight up Baton Pass sets because their too weak to Taunt and its not really my play style anyway. I decided to run a more offensive set instead, Megahorn and Poison Jab for STAB, and Earthquake for coverage. The standard set for this appears to run protect over Baton Pass, but I decided that it would be best to have Baton Pass for switch initiative.
Coryn (Talonflame) @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Steel Wing
- U-turn
These last two pokemon are basically here for coverage. The rest of the team lack priority and fire attacks so I figured why not use the most powerful priority user in the game? Steel Wing is completely pointless, but tbh whoever uses the 3rd move on Talonflame anyway. U-turn is for switch initiative, completely my kind of Volt-Turn-Pass core. Flare Blitz and Brave Bird are amazing STAB's and theres no reason to not use them on Talonflame.
Donny (Donphan) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
Probably the pokemon Im least impressed with. I wanted a Ground type that could Rapid Spin and get up Rocks, which is basically Donphan in a nutshell. If anyone can find a pokemon that can RS and set up rocks at the same time that would be very helpful. Ice Shard is for Ice coverage which this team lacks, and Earthquake is its best STAB.
Thanks for reading! I know the team is meh, that's why I'm posting it here to get opinions on what needs to be changed! Good day! :D
