Yearly Record + Pokedex
Why are there no records of circuits from before 2018?
Official circuits, with a ribbon as a prize, were standardized and officially administrated by the tournaments section starting in 2018. While some metagames had unofficial circuits before this point, they were not awarded ribbons retroactively and so are not included in the Ribbon Hall of Fame.
Why is Empo credited with a ribbon for the 2017 Smogon Championship?
The Smogon Championship was a precursor to official circuits that served much the same purpose, but was limited to one winner/one ribbon-equivalent a year over all included metagames, rather than one winner/ribbon for each included metagame. Empo accomplished this monumental task, and with 2018's Circuit restructuring, is the only one to do so.
Where is the [Year] [Format] Circuit Winner?
Some formats, like NatDex or Draft, did not have ribbon circuits since the beginning. Others, like OU and Past Generations, missed a year here or there for various reasons. The 2019 Past Gens Championships awarded a custom banner prize rather than a ribbon. If you're interested in seeing those winners, here's a link to the 2019 Finals.
