I did a trip of somewhat kind of local colleges.
Johns Hopkins: awesome. Their water polo team is way way way too good for me to play for them though. They're consistently one of the better teams in the nation, usually top25 anyways...Johns Hopkins has an extremely open curriculum; you are not required to take certain courses but are allowed to focus on specific areas. This really appeals to me, as I would like to focus in Chinese and Comp Sci with a bit of English, while completely avoiding lab sciences and History, etc.
George Washington: I would like it if I cared more about politics I guess...
UNY: meh. I don't like how there wasn't a campus whatsoever.
Columbia: awesome. Seriously, Columbia was pretty much awesome in every way shape and form. It's smack dab in the middle of the city yet has a very distinctly separated campus. Their course catalog is impressive to say the least...and they have a special track for Artificial Intelligence inside their Computer Science major.
Bucknell: kind of in the middle of nowhere...didn't really like the size of the school or the people in it. They remind me too much of the people at my current high school that I can't stand.
Haverford: Damn hippies. Hey, let's institute an honor code that doesn't work! Oh, and theres only like 1500 kids and they are very proud of the relationships between students and teachers. And they once brought in a special speaker who was a stripper who covered herself in chocolate for some reason...something about free speech? Damn hippies.
UPenn: kind of nice...they make students take lots of courses that they might not want to take which is too bad. I hear they're pretty awesome at business which could be cool...if I got into UPenn and wanted to go there, I would probably be a lot less focused with my work; going English, Comp, Chinese, and some sort of Business wouldn't allow me to really focus in any of those areas. That said, having a degree from their business school with a fluency in Chinese (and computers) with the ability to write could help with the whole job thing.
That was my college tour...shooting high. It's not the full range of schools I'll apply to, just the ones I went to see already.
