Clever Name Wanted (first RMT)

So I made this team as an attempt to create a functioning OU team that I would be able to recreate in game to relative sucess (currently ~1900 not that that means all that much)

Team at a glance:

So here are the sets:

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Dazzling Gleam
- Fire Blast

Togekiss, one of the most likely pokemon in OU to inspire rage quits, EV spread was chosen in order to give more bulk in order to survive setting up thunder wave before speed becomes unimportant due to the crippling effects of paralysis before using Air Slash which when combined with the Serene Grace ability provides annoyingly (or amusingly depending on which end of the stick you are on) high flinch chance. Dazzling Gleam and Fire Blast are taken in order to provide Togekiss coverage. Togekiss was also chosen as its typing provides synergy with my Charizard and Slowbro which make up the core of this team.

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

I chose Charizard X as part of the initial core of this team because I currently believe him to the most reliable DD sweeper in the game currently being immune to the burn that has plagued my physical sweepers in the past. Dragon Claw was used over Outrage due to the current prevalence of fairy types in the meta game where being locked into Outrage can spell death for Charizard.

Slowbro @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

Slowbro acts as a bulky water, Assault vest is the item of choice as it boosts Slowbros SpDef allowing to tank hits from both sides of the spectrum at the cost of any on field regeneration, luckily Slowbro has the ability Regenerator to save its day allowing to have some longevity over the course of the game. Slowbro is the final member of the core this team was built around along with Charizard and Togekiss.

Donphan @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Donphans place in the team was originally occupied by a Mamoswine @ Focus Sash however I quickly realised that the effectiveness of my team was suffering without the presence of Rapid Spin to clear rocks for the entry of both Charizard and Togekiss. Donphan was chosen because it brought with it the Rocks, Priority Ice move and Earthquake that I was losing with Mamoswine as well as for its huge natural physical Bulk.

454.png

Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Poison Jab
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch

Toxicroak was chosen in order to be used as a fairy killer that was particularly potent against OUs rampant Azumarill through its Poison Job effectiveness against fairies and immunity to falling to Aqua Jet via Dry Skin, Bulk up boosts attack while increasing Toxicroaks resilience to physical attacks, Sucker punch was taken to provide a measure against its gaping weakness to psychic types.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SAtk / 84 Spd
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt

Magnezone with Magnet Pull was taken as a measure against the increased use of steel types this gen (thanks fairies) many of my previous teams were pestered by the rampant use of Genesect in OU and Magnezone provides and answer preventing escape and ending them with HP Fire, Magnezone holds its own with decent coverage and bulk and the ability to act as a pivot through Volt Switch

Thank you in advance for readying, accepting any and all criticism :).

I like a lot of what you have going already! I just have one suggestion for a Togekiss set.

In my experiences, I've used:

Togekiss Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Roost
- Dazzling Gleam
- Flamethrower

Nasty Plot turns Togekiss into a powerhouse, and with its already huge special bulk, can find plenty of opportunities to set up. Roost is for extra longevity. The combination of Dazzling Gleam and Flamethrower hits everything save Tyranitar (correct me if I'm wrong) neutrally, and with a Nasty Plot boost, gives more than enough firepower to muscle through checks such as Azumarill and Talonflame.

I like the set you have going already, this is just some extra food for thought.

dazzling gleam is super effective against TTar (fairy vs dark) so that cant be the hole in the coverage, I might experiment with this set a bit though

If you run flamethrower on Togekiss then you can't hit fire types. If you run air slash then you can't hit steels. Air slash is recommended because Togekiss probably shouldn't stay in on something that has a super effective STAB on it. Also the flinch from Serene Grace is nice.

With Nasty Plot you can respec your SAtk into Def or SDef since you're going to get a +2 boost. Try this set:

Togekiss
Roost
Air Slash
Nasty Plot
Dazzling Gleam / Focus Blast
ability: Serene Grace
item: Leftovers
evs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
nature: Calm

Since Togekiss would be specially defensive you should make Slowbro a physical wall rather than special with this set:

Slowbro
Scald
Ice Beam
Slack Off
Thunder Wave / Toxic / Fire Blast
ability: Regenerator
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
nature: Bold

Probably go T-wave on this set because your team is looking pretty slow as it is.
Edit: after testing it out I prefer to use toxic to set a timer on difficult pokemon, this team is bulky enough to outlast a toxic'd mon

Hey you're using a core I have used at some point, maybe in DPP or early BW. I seem to remember Magnezone and Togekiss were in UU together at some point... Anyway, the Togekiss and Magnezone core works really well, as togekiss has lots of trouble with steal types. As you have magnezone, I would probably drop fire blast in favor of roost. Also I'll second the above post in taking assault vest off slowbro. Maybe it works, idk, but slowbro loves having reliable recovery (slack off) and your team could do with a solid physical wall to partner with togekiss.

However, more importantly, I'd like to correct you on a statement you made: "Dragon Claw was used over Outrage due to the current prevalence of fairy types in the meta game where being locked into Outrage can spell death for Charizard."

I thought this too for a while but it is false. If using outrage and a fairy is switched in your rampage ends without confusion. You can change moves, as long as not choiced, or switch. Tbh outrage is a much better choice, especially with magnezone support. Of course it'd probably be worth doing the calcs and seeing what zard-x is OHKOing at +1 that he isn't with dragon claw, but sadly I don't have time to do that at the moment. Maybe I'll edit later.

I really like how this team has no legendaries, so it's fairly easy to make in game (except Magnezones HP fire). I agree with fish6067's argument for outrage, it has been pulling off some wonderful 1HKO's for me. BTW, Toxicroak is an amazing counter to Azumarill. I never realized that before trying it out.

After playing around with the team some more i found that Togekiss almost never gets to use it's Nasty Plot and could really benefit from more immediate power. I've been running this set:

Togekiss
Roost
Air Slash
Focus Blast
Dazzling Gleam
ability: Serene Grace
item: Life Orb
EVs: 248 HP / 208 SpA / 52 Spd
nature: Modest

These EVs allow it to outspeed and 2HKO rotom with Dazzling Gleam, a common counter and threat to this team. (Also makes it easier to build in game without needing 2 leftovers). Unfortunately this does leave the team less specially defensive.

I recommend switching Donphan's Ice Shard to Knock Off. It does wonders against spin blocking ghosts and generally causes more problems for your opponent than a weak priority ice attack does.
