Cliché Rain

Cliché Rain
This team started out as a team which just trolls other weathers, but it slowly became a rain team after replacing a few members because they were useless. After testing my team with many battles, I finally got the courage to post it here, and pretty sure my team would not get laughed at. Here is my team, and i am pretty open to suggestions, and yes. I noticed that i written considerably little descriptions for each pokemon. I apologise for that.

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait:
EVs: 252 SpA/252 Spe /4 Atk
Nature Hasty (+Spe, -Def)
- U-Turn
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Thunder

Genesect is my scouter and if able, kill leads. U-Turn gives me a chance of switching safely to my dugtrio (if my opponent swithces to dugtrio weak pokemon) and kill the opposing pokemon. U-turn also kills specially bulky psychic pokemon like latios. 3 element moves for coverage. I used bug buzz before, but there were way more situations where flamethrower is more useful.

Dugtrio (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Reversal
- Memento

Dugtrio's amazing ability allows it to trap grounded pokemons, and revenge kill them. This guy makes it able to destroy some switch-ins to genesect (ninetails, tentacruel, heatran etc). I am not too sure what set i should be running though, band? scarf? sash? and the move set. Got a better set now, thanks.

Thundurus-T @ Life Orb
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Hidden Power (Ice)
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot/ Agility?

A STAB, 100% accuracy, 120 base power coming from a 145 base special attack is no joke. 3 attacking moves for coverage and nasty plot/agility to make it able to sweep. I think that agility would be better as it allows me to outspeed almost everything and sweep with deadly strong attacks.

Politoed @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Def
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Toxic
- Perish song
- Protect

This guy over here goes in on physical attackers, and cripples them with a burning scald. My weather setter and physical attacker crippler. Scald is for burning, Encore to trap pokemon in useless moves for a few turns while i set up on something else. Protect for stalling/scouting.

qC67T.png

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 56 HP/ 248 Atk/ 204 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitude
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce

With Sub up and a few Dragon Dances in its belly, hitting with a stab rain boosted waterfall is very pain, and getting an extra attack boost for each kill it gets, Gyarados is my physical sweeper. I figured i needed one since a already have thundurus-t as my special sweeper. I am not too sure if putting bounce is okay as there are other options for physical moves like EQ. Rotom-W kills this though.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Def / 108 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Protect
- Power Whip

Since i already have politoed, i might as well have a special defender. Ferrothorn makes a good job for it. Leech seed absolutely pisses of everything that does not resist it, and protect is for leech stalling/ scouting. This guy also kills gastrodons, which pretty muchly laughs at the rest of my team.

Threats:
pretty muchly anything that sets up on me

You're going to need to expand on the descriptions bud. Might want to read the RMT Guidelines before posting.

As far as the team goes,

Use this for Dugtrio
Dugtrio (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Reversal
- Memento
It will help youg et down Rocks and take care of Heatran and Tyranitar.

Thundurus wants Timid nature, not Jolly so that Satk is not lowered.

Try Bold nature on Politoed with a more Defensive EV set.

Gyaradoes would probably benfit from Ice Fang moreso than Bounce.

Try this one for Ferrothorn

Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Def / 108 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Gyro Ball
- Protect

oops. i messed up the natures. i have the correct natures, but i typed the wrong thing. my bad.
I am pretty agreeable with the dugtrio set. I would test out the Ferrothorn set. seems promising.

I will expand on the description quite soon. give me a while.

I highly recommend switching Gyro Ball to Power Whip on Ferrothorn. Two main reasons, it hits like a truck on water types, especially Gastrodon. And Thunder Wave and Gyro ball have very bad synergy.

Also, using a Fire-type move on Genesect is not recommended, due to this team being a rain team. I recommend that you replace Thunderbolt with Thunder and Flamethrower with Bug Buzz. I also recommend that you replace Encore with Perish Song on your Politoed as this makes him a good check to many setup Pokémon, especially those that are the last pokémon on the team.

Also, using Ice Fang on Gyarados is actually not a good idea. You are better off using Bounce, while it attracts Electric-types and has two turns, the power and chance to paralyze the opponent in comparison to Ice Fang make this a much better option. However, if you really hate having to use this move, Stone Edge is a nice alternative. It still hits Dragon-types but packs more of a punch and is useful against Fire-types in sun, although its accuracy can be a letdown. Earthquake is another nice alternative to scary away many Electric-types that think that can switch free on Gyarados, but note that Thundurus-T and Rotom-W are two common Electric-types that laugh at Earthquake.

If not using Flamethrower on Genesect makes you vulnerable to Ferrothorn, I suggest that you use a Fighting-type Pokémon, as due to rain they are the best option that you can use apart from Fire-types. Keldeo is a nice option, and it in fact greatly benefits from Rain; its Hydro Pump is powered up, becoming capable of 2HKOing or OHKOing things that resist it! Of course, this is only a suggestion that I think that you should accept if your team is too vulnerable to Ferrothorn without a Fire-type move to destroy him.

The reason I dislike Bounce is that Thunders are able to hit it while in the air and with Thunder being 100% accurate that's something you want to avoid.

Just a quick observation, your EV spreads are completely wrong on many pokemons.

Politoed: a set with Scald | Encore | Toxic | Protect is clearly defensive, and has no physical attack to use. Your EVs for such a set should be 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD.
Genesect: EVs are missing. Use a standard 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe if you don't have any other idea on how to allocate EVs on it.
Thundurus-T: Attack EVs are useless, since you're running only special moves. Use 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe.

I'm not sure if it's just a (quite big) typo or if you're seeking for help even on that aspect; if so, I hope my reply helped you somehow.

Good luck for your team!

I was testing different sets at that time, and i forgot to change the natures and ev in my notepad. Politioed was offensive. Thundurus is a stupid typo. I have no idea how genesect's ev disappeared.
I will correct them. Really should have checked before I posted.

The values are fixed now. I am going to hide in a corner for being very careless.

I will look at those sets and try them out.
