Cloning: Obsession? A debate on Pokeconomy

Being an Economics major I have this strange, unappeasing insight into what I am invisioning for this new age of Wireless Trading through D/P. Cloning as seen amongst other games (If those her have played Diablo, you know what I mean.) can often result in disaster. By increasing the supply of 'the best' Pokemon one can get, they effectively cheapen that Pokemon's worth in the long run. This can lead to, in the future a widespread quantity of Pokemon of many species having 4-6 perfect IVs becoming the definition of 'good' just as we are seeing 2-3 IVs at 31 being seen now as 'Standard' models, some say required.

Breeding is a long arduous process which at it's pinnacle is designed to create the most efficiant Pokemon of it's species through Moves, IVs, ect. You effectively take something from the Breeder by cloning a valuable Pokemon ad infinitum until it is worth next to zilch. This is the same thing as flooding the market with too much good product. We are currently under Pokeflation and at this time I am questioning the validity or need of Cloning. While there are efforts to prevent redistribution, this does not qualify to everyone who breeds as things like the StarWizard's Breeding Competition aside where those who participate certainly earn their rights to share the sucess of prize babies among the competition.

But beyond that, can you really take pride in something that could be cloned, recloned untill there are 10 or more of then floating cartridge to cartridge. This may not seem like much. Untill you realize that there are thousands upon thousands of people breeding and cloning across the world. When is Cloning too much? Is it wrong? Where do you draw the line?

That is a pretty important thing to consider, but in reality, cloning would mean it is easier to get the pokemon you need without having to go through that long chain of breeding.

I'm guessing more than half of Pokemon players shark whatever they want, when they want it, drastically decreasing the rarity of things like legendaries and perfect IV pokes. So to say cloning ruins the trading economy is pointless, it's already been ruined. If sharking didn't exist, you would have a point.

You can't really put a value on some pokemon as there's no tradeable currency in pokemon. It also does not have rare items or runewords or whatever like diablo. There's no 'economy' here and hence cloning could not possibly ruin it that much.
