Cloud's OU Team II

I heavily reworked the team I originally had listed here. Since no one replied to it, I figured I'd post the updated team in case anyone saw this.

aegislash2-1.gif

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy - Quiet Nature (Stance Change)
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Attack / 252 Sp. Attack
- Shadow Ball
- Sacred Sword
- Flash Cannon
- King's Shield

When played correctly Aegislash is really hard to deal with. Shadow Ball, Sacred Sword, and Flash Cannon are powerful attacks backed by Aegislash's great offensive stats. King's Shield is to return Aegis to shield forme.

Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry - Calm Nature (Levitate)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 252 Sp. Defense
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest

This is the standard Rotom-W set. Volt Switch to get a free switch-out and attack, Hydro Pump because it's Rotom's only water-type move, Will-O-Wisp to burn especially physical attackers, and Rest + Chesto Berry because that's Rotom's only reliable form of recovery. EVs ensure it won't go down easily.

Froslass @ Focus Sash - Timid Nature (Cursed Body)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed
- Taunt
- Spikes
- Destiny Bond
- Ice Beam

My usual lead. Froslass is pretty underrated, as it has great speed that usually lets it move first. Taunt and shut down Stealth Rock / Spikes / Toxic users, send out some Spikes, and Destiny Bond after sash activates. Ice Beam is for STAB coverage against Dragon-types and Grass-types.

Aromatisse @ Leftovers - Relaxed Nature (Aroma Veil)
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Defense / 16 Sp. Defense
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy

This is another underrated Pokemon. Aroma Veil prevents my entire team from being taunted or having their moves disabled. Wish can be used to restore Aromatisse's HP or she can switch out to another Pokemon. Protect is in case Aromatisse uses wish to heal herself. Moonblast is for STAB, Aromatherapy is to heal status (mainly Rotom after using Rest).

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak - Adamant Nature (Gale Wings)
EVs: 252 Attack / 4 Defense / 252 Speed
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Roost

The standard Tflame set. Flare Blitz and Brave Bird are powerful attacks, but have recoil, Brave Bird is boosted by STAB, Sharp beak, and Adamant nature, U-turn is for a free switch, and Roost is to heal Talonflame, and it's given priority with Gale Wings, which will come in handy.

Blastoise @ Blastoisinite - Modest Nature (Mega Launcher)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Sp. Attack / 4 Sp. Defense
- Water Pulse
- Rapid Spin
- Dark Pulse
- Aura Sphere

My hazard-remover. It sports good defenses, so it's not easy to defeat. Max HP evs are to increase its longetivity, Modest nature + Sp. Attack make Blastoise reach 405 Sp. Attack boosted by Mega Launcher, and 4 Sp. Defense EVs, again, are for longetivity. Water Pulse is STAB and boosted by Mega Launcher, Rapid Spin is to remove hazards, mainly for Tflame, Dark Pulse and Aura Sphere are also boosted by its ability.

So that's my team. I'm open to changes of any kind except for Aegislash who I bred perfect + shiny. Thanks!

Allright, promised to rate this, so here I am. By the way, if you have a new team, don't just edit it in another RMT and bump it a week later; post a new thread, not earlier than two weeks after the first one. (Also, what is up with your Rotom-W's EVs? 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef I assume?)

Anyways, I have to say I don't really like the Aromatisse. First off, Sylveon has mostly better stats. Sylveon has 95 / 65 / 130 defenses, while Aromatisse has 101 / 72 / 89 defenses. Aromatisse has a little extra bulk, but the big drop in Special Defense means it either has to invest in that, having worse physical bulk than Sylveon as well as worse special bulk, or it is pretty much unable to take special attacks. For example, something like Hydro Pump from Keldeo/Greninja, Specs Hydro Pump from Keldeo does up to 64% maximum (still a lot, but at least it wins 1-vs-1), while it does up to 85% versus Aromatisse, notable difference. Also, Aromatisse is super slow, and hits a lot weaker due to lower Special Attack and no Pixilate. The only real advantage Aromatisse has is an immunity to Taunt, but that's not that big of an advantage either. Just look at common Taunters: Deoxys-S, Deoxys-D, Mandibuzz, and that's it basically. And you're best of just attacking them anyways.

Now, I have to say I don't really see Froslass as the best option for this team. Your team has some bulk, and pretty much everything bar Talonflame is able to take a couple of hits. Froslass doesn't fit for this, it is a suicide lead on very offensively-inclined teams that also have a Stealth Rock setter. You don't even have Stealth Rock, which is much more important than the Spikes that Froslass provides. It doesn't help that dedicated leads have taken a hit with Team Preview, and that it is inferior to Deoxys-D and Deoxys-S for the most part.

I'm seeing a problem with Mega Charizard X as well. You don't really have something to take care of it, and if it sets up you are pretty much in a losing situation. Because of this, I would put Choice Band on Talonflame. It makes it noticably more powerful, allowing it to revenge kill Mega Charizard X by OHKOing after SR. Also, it helps with noticably more damage in general, and also helps get some kills vs stuff such as Diggersby and Terrakion, who can also trouble your team.

As for who to replace Froslass, I would consider Landorus-T, since in general there are a lot of physical sweepers who can really tear apart your team when given the chance (just one turn to set up for most of them), including the Charizard X I just mentioned and other threats such as Pinsir-Mega, Excadrill, and Garchomp, among others. Landorus-T really does a good job at beating them with Intimidate, solid typing, and nice bulk. It is also one of the more reliable Stealth Rock setters out there.

Oh and I don't really like Weakness Policy on the Aegislash set you are carrying, it isn't gonna sweep anytime soon, it is way too slow for it and it has no priority + Swords Dance either, so I recommend changing that to Air Balloon to have another safety net against the likes of Excadrill and Garchomp, or Leftovers if you don't like Air Balloon. Also, consider Shadow Sneak > Flash Cannon because that priority really helps.

  • Sylveon > Aromatisse
  • Choice Band on Talonflame + Tailwind > Roost
  • Landorus-T > Froslass
  • Air Balloon > Weakness Policy on Aegislash + Shadow Sneak > Flash Cannon

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell

Landorus_Therian_anime.png

Landorus-T @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 244 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

Also, keep in mind that just building a lot of teams (and testing them) will improve your teambuilding skill over time, so just keep at it! If you have any questions or need any other help, just ask me on #mentor. GL with the team!

Thanks for rating the team! I will definitely try to get both of them, I just don't think I have access to Landorus-T (I only have Black 2, so I'd need to trade for one). I also would need to trade for Sylveon, as the best I was able to breed on Black 2 myself was 3IV. Otherwise, that would definitely work, so I'll test out the team. Thanks again!

Just pokegen it.

I'd prefer to get all of my teams legitimate.

Speaking of legitimate, I just hatched a shiny Talonflame for the team, but Tomahawk9 said to run a Choice Band on it. That in itself is fine, but Tailwind over Roost seems like an odd choice because after Tailwind, it'd force a switch.

Well, the same goes for Roost. Honestly, the last slot for CB Talonflame is always something that you will rarely use, but Tailwind has the advantage of having priority, and sometimes sacrificing Talonflame to get that 5 turn Speed boost allows you to revenge kill something you otherwise couldn't, sweep the opponent's team with that extra speed, etc. Will-O-Wisp is also usable to neuter opponents Talonflame's counters, eg Tyranitar, Landorus-T, making them pretty useless. Roost is not really that great on Choiced sets though imo.
