CM Hypno...Will it work?

Well, I tried to create a creative moveset using UU's Special Wall...Hypno. Please check it out...

Hypno@Leftovers
Insomnia
Bold/Calm
252 HP, 252 Sp Def, 4 Def

Reflect
Calm Mind
Focus Blast
Shadow Ball

I think this makes a pretty good Anti-Sleep counter. Switch in on something's Hypnosis. Most probably, the opponent will switch in their Special Wall. Reflect on the Switch. If you think they stay in or have a SE Hit on you (most probably considering one of the most common sleepers is Gengar), use CM. Nothing resists Fighting/Ghost so try sweeping. Another thing, since Hypno is really slow, it would be better with Paralysis support. If the opponent isn't paralysed, this set will probably fail. I haven't tried this yet, but maybe it would be a decent choice on Stall Teams.

Damage Calculations:

Gengar's Shadow Ball- 51.34% - 60.43%
Gengar's Shadow Ball after a CM- 34.76% - 40.91%
Yanmega's Bug Buzz- 53.21% - 62.83%
Yanmega's Bug Buzz after a CM- 36.10% - 42.25%
Tyranitar's Crunch after a Reflect- 48.40% - 56.95%
Weavile's Night Slash after a Reflect- 39.30% - 46.26%
Garchomp's Outrage after a Reflect- 35.29% - 41.71%
Salamence's Speced Draco Meteor- 59.36% - 69.79%
Salamence's Speced Draco Meteor after a CM- 39.84% - 47.06%

Notes: All attacks by major threats other than Mence here are not holding any Choice Items.
---------------
Hypno's Focus Blast on T-Tar- 79.24% - 93.27%
Hypno's Focus Blast on T-tar, after 1 CM- 117.84% - 138.60%
Hypno's Focus Blast on Weavile- 109.93% - 129.08%
Hypno's Focus Blast on Blissey- 14.71% - 17.37%
Hypno's Shadow Ball on Gengar- 43.89% - 51.91%
Hypno's Shadow Ball on Gengar after a CM- 65.27% - 76.72%

Notes: All Damage Calculations this time are based on the Standards of the opponents. Other than Blissey, all calculations have 4 EVs in HP on the defending Pokemon.
--------------

Well, after seeing the calculations, Hypno can actually KO T-Tar and Weavile. Too bad, if it wasn't for Sand Stream, Focus Blast would have KOed T-Tar. Unfortunately, Hypno has no shot at Murdering Blissey, no matter how hard it tries. Hypno also has to be wary of switching in on Gengar;s Shadow Balls, as they hurt a LOT. After a CM though, its a 2HKO on Gengar.

Pros:

A great surprise for the ever boring standard sets.
A litlle variation.
Can KO Weavile and T-Tar
Has a shot at killing most standard Gengars.

Cons:

Easily walled by the mass of Pink Fat
Needs paralysis support to efficently work.
Maybe outclassed in certain aspects.
Needs good prediction too efficently work in Standards.

Please tell me if this set has a chance of use in OU, seeing I haven't tried it yet.

So, say Gengar is trying to Hypnosis. Gengar fails, but because he carries SB he tries to kill Hypno. Hypno Calm Minds. Gengar still deals out about 90% damage anyway in those two turns. Hypno can't OHKO Gengar after one CM, and is 3KOed in return. If Gengar is not at full health, he can get OHKOed, but sand stream/SR damage will hurt Hypno more because Gengar is so close to OHKOing Hypno anyway and it negates leftovers recover.

Do I understand this correctly?

I think so. But Shadow Ball 2HKos Gengar. Plus, SR Damage would take its toll too. Like i said, the set fails w/o Paralysis support. Meaning, it'd be better too Paralyze things with something like Blissey, then try and use the Hypno.

I find this funny because, if you have blissey on the team to provide the paralysis, you might as well just ditch hypno altogether and use a cm blissey.

True, but that wasn't my point. I was trying too make an alternative Hypno and was trying too see if it would be useable in OU. Back it up with something with Thunder Wave, and it may be a decent choice.

The lack of a recovery move in that moveset allows many Pokemon to 2HKO it, or have a chance to do so. Tyranitar can have a chance to 2HKO Hypno with Crunch, and Gengar can 2HKO Hypno. I would certainly stick to Grumpig for UU, and Tentacruel, Uxie or Cresselia for OU. Nevertheless, Hypno gains the ability to be immune to Sleep status, and resisting Fighting makes it a good Breloom Counter, but still lack a way to handle Stone Edge or Seed Bomb.

Yeah, true, lack of a recovery move hurts it. If Im right though, it learns Wish. Perhaps replace one of my attacking moves?

If you're trying to use it in OU, his stats are too much of a let-down (mainly speed).
If you're trying to use it in UU, such a set is already standard-fare alongside Grumpig for lack of Blissey.

You're probably better off using Calm Mind Hypno as a Baton Passer to set up something with more sweeping potential. Needs Wish, as well. And don't use it in OU.

Nevermind, didn't read calcs clearly. I think the problem you have is that to pull off a CM set up, you need Reflect, Wish, and CM, which leaves you without enough attacking moves.

Hi! This is my first post! I felt like putting some insight here. In a Trick Room team this might actually work. To even double the odds Baton Passing some Subs would be very usefull.
