Co-op Player Town vs NPC Mafia Game

There has been some discussion about interest in a game with the solving mechanics/concept of town vs mafia mafia, but without the pitfalls of the village leader system (info centralized, moling = free loss for town, people with difficult-to-prove roles sidelined/unlikely to get sheeted, you all know the complaints) that can make TvM unfun. The idea would be to emphasize communal working together to piece together who 'the scum' are, where all players are town-aligned, and 'the scum' are NPCs controlled by the host.

Or the scum could even be a known team of players who are working together to cause chaos to the town. So the town knows who they all are and the scum don't need to hide themselves, just make moves to cause problems.

My idea is everyone has a secret identity they are not aware of. If there are 20 players, there are 28 identities, 8 of which are scum. By a certain point in the game, the town must vote on all 28 identities, deciding for each identity either which player they are, or if they are scum. If they get things right, they win.

Other elements mentioned were an expanded temple concept, where the adventure is far longer, or something like Betrayal where you work together to build the 'board' and by exploring new tiles/locations of the temple, unlock helpful things or perils that the NPC mafia set up, item evolution where you upgrade your ability if you find your evolution item, instead of death the mafia's neutralizing mechanic = roadblocks or roleblocking so nobody is excluded in the graveyard.

I think my theme would be Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Like in the game series everyone starts as a babby 3-stage mon and can evolve via finding stuff as they explore The Dungeon together, getting sabotaged by the baddy mons, until they make enough discoveries to solve.

If you would be interested in trying a PMD co-op mafia game, leave a Luvdisc on this post so I know approximately how big to size it. Doesn't have to be a firm commitment, and it's probably like 6+ months away from a slot in the queue, but just for THE JIST.
