[SET]
Calm Mind (HP) (Sinistcha) @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers
Ability: Heatproof
Tera Type: Steel / Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Matcha Gotcha
- Shadow Ball
- Strength Sap
Sinistcha leverages its fantastic bulk, typing, and longevity to function as both a resilient wall and a potent late-game sweeper with Calm Mind. Matcha Gotcha and Shadow Ball provide reliable STAB coverage, allowing it to wear down foes while staying healthy. Strength Sap neutralizes physical attackers such as Zamazenta, Ogerpon-W, and Ho-Oh, while also giving Sinistcha a more reliable recovery option as compared to Matcha Gotcha. Heavy-Duty Boots ensures Sinistcha remains a consistent presence throughout the match by negating entry hazard damage, while Leftovers is an alternative option to provide passive recovery. Heatproof is particularly valuable, letting Sinistcha comfortably handle Fire-types such as Iron Moth and Volcanion. It also synergizes well with Tera Steel, which flips Sinistcha's Flying- and Ice-type weaknesses into resistances while also being a generally solid defensive typing. Alternatively, Tera Fairy can be used to deal with Dark-types such as Hisuian Samurott and Darkrai.
Sinistcha appreciates Gods with high HP stats, such as Eternatus and Arceus, which further amplify its defensive capabilities, making it even more difficult to break. Sinistcha is also able to spinblock Great Tusk, one of the tier’s best forms of entry hazard removal, keeping hazards up to wear down foes. Therefore, it pairs well with entry hazard setters such as Clefable, Ting-Lu, and Hisuian Samurott, which can consistently set Stealth Rock and Spikes, as well as Knock Off users such as Great Tusk, Ogerpon-W, and Weavile that can remove Heavy-Duty Boots. While Sinistcha has Calm Mind to boost its Special Defense, it can struggle to switch into powerful special attackers such as Kyurem-W and Eternatus, making specially defensive teammates such as the aforementioned Ting-Lu and Heatran helpful. Finally, Sinistcha can struggle against the myriad of powerful Dark-types in the tier such as Roaring Moon and Darkrai, making teammates that can handle them such as Clefable and Ting-Lu useful.
